Snoop's Take

The ACCEL 59130 Accel Performance Distributor HEI is designed as a direct plug-in factory replacement for Chevrolet V8 engines ranging from 265 to 454 cubic inches. This performance distributor aims to enhance ignition efficiency and reliability with its all-new cast aluminum housing and OEM style ignition modules. However, consumer sentiment appears largely negative, with many users expressing a lack of faith in the Accel brand, stating, "I personally wouldn't recommend it though. It works fine, but I still keep it in the back of my mind that it could fail at any moment." Users have also raised concerns about compatibility issues and frequent replacements due to corrosion, with some noting that OEM distributors offer better longevity than their aftermarket counterparts. Given the prevalent feedback highlighting dissatisfaction with reliability and performance, it may be advisable to consider alternative brands or OEM options for those seeking dependable ignition solutions.

Accell brand not recommended for upgrades
Was wondering if anyone had good things to say about upgrading to the accel ignition coil on a 1998 3.0.
In general, Ford Motorcraft uses the most reliable and durable parts.
I wouldn't call it an upgrade to use Accell.
Unless you’re planning on building it all crazy and using a msd ignition system leave the motor craft one in there.

Incompatibility issues with Accel parts
You just have two incompatible parts
You need a different style wire
Frequent replacement needed due to corrosion issues
I'm facing distributor problems every 6 months leading to me replacing the distributor time and time again.
I believe it's about 6 months after the last time changing it, meaning they're failing every 6 months.
OEM distributors have better longevity than aftermarket
the oem lasted longer than cheap aftermarket. Get the Ac Delco.

Best decently priced distributor?
Master fuse on the firewall, can be eliminated or jumped in a pinch.
I see it as a chain reaction -- The Distributor doesn't receive adequate power, or merely varying power.
Timing issues might affect performance
a new Delco cap and rotor would be a cheap/easy way to eliminate those items.
Sounds like you do have a timing problem.
