Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Tires made for EVs share technology with older high-efficiency tires.
Ultimately, you sacrifice grip for tread life.
Comments on the performance of different tire brands for EVs.
Wearing well.
None of my Benzes with staggered sets would last more than 30k and those cars had way less power.
Really like them, and pricing is definitely cheaper than the Michelins.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
The importance of proper technique in mounting tires.
The most important thing is keeping the bead in the lowest point of the rim “trough” for the parts that’s on, if any of it is seated against the side “hook” of the rim, the last part you’re struggling with could be impossible, and there’s a much higher chance of breaking tire levers or rim.
Squeeze the opposite side into the channel of the rim with your thumbs. Then keep squeezing and bring your thumbs up towards the top part where you are trying to get it in.
Absolutely nailed it…The channel is the key. I struggled and struggled on mounting a tire…once…A friend comes over, puts the beads in the channel and boom tire was on with no levers…Learned my lesson then!
This is good advice, also finish at the valve, as you can't push into the center where the valve is in the way.
References to helpful resources for tire mounting.
Excellent description. There's a diagram and a video to help with this, as well as a few additional tips, at /r/bikewrench/wiki/tire_mounting.
The importance of proper technique in tire mounting.
If he goes to a professional, and their professional statement when on the job is that it doesn't need to be repaired, and later the tire blows out, it could be deemed that it was due to the tire being weakened by this.
Personal experiences with tire mounting and repair.
There was never a judgement, it was all settled out of court, so the only precedent would be a suit being filed, which amounts to nothing.
Concerns about the complexity of tire compatibility and installation for average riders.
However this is simply too much to ask for from the average rider in my opinion.
Comparison of tire installation ease with hookless rims.
Hookless has no advantages for a road rider.
Avoiding Canadian Tire for auto service is common advice.
then i told him give me a wrench i will try to get the loss… and guess what i got all nuts off with a couple of swings
You've learned a lesson that most of us have: avoid Canadian Tire for auto service.
after the second time the following year, it's just not worth it.
I went home and changed my tires myself.
Concerns about the challenges of cleaning old sealant off tires.
Thanks for the suggestions. Someone elsewhere recommended using an eraser designed for cleaning sanding belts, and that's worked best so far.
The issue I've had in the past with dried sealant is that it makes it much more difficult to seat a tyre with a regular stand pump because the bead's now uneven.
Sometimes takes a while to remove it all but it works. Grab a chair and a beer and a Bluetooth speaker and get to work.
I was able to rub it off using my thumbs and an old towel. I personally wouldn't use any solvents on my tires.
Discussion about matching tire sizes for specific builds.
If anyone has a grasp on where to find what I'm looking for, it's this sub, so here goes
Thanks! I mean I'm already running 2.5" in the rear, so 2.3 would actually give me some daylight between tire and chain stay.
No problems tubeless yet.
Guess you'll be running tubes?

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Breaking the bead can require significant effort.
You just need to use some elbow grease and it will come off just fine.
grab the tire and push with both thumbs right at the bead, right above the rim.
I have some rims where I have to stand on the tire with my heel as close to the rim as possible and then pull up with all my might to get them to unseat.
Push with both thumbs down “into the bead” while still angling away from the rim then make a sweeping up motion with your thumbs while still pushing.. HARD.. you’ll get it
Concerns about damaging the tire or wheel.
Ok I just didn’t want to break it, all the videos I’m watching it looks like it comes off without any force.
Experiences with tight tire beads.
You have to bunch it up on the back roll the tire over.
There was a split in the tire that I thought was a quite a deep scratch as they were pretty beat up - turned out it was a split that went most of the way through so when I pulled the tire out it tore.
Humorous remarks about tire removal struggles.
Lol you won’t break it. You weigh more than you can apply in pressure to it! So it can handle a lot more!.
Talk about a low risk/low reward bet.
Personal experiences with tire mounting struggles.
This worked like a dream.
Thanks for that note! Great that it helped.
Concerns about professional liability in tire repair advice.
They are not going to put there name on it for no money.
Our shop got sued for this and now we suggest replacement for any mark on the sidewall of a tire
The issue is not in not replacing the tire.
You’re someone offering a professional opinion, from your business, on something you are presumably an expert on.
The potential risks associated with tire sidewall damage.
That’s a rim guard, honestly I did that to a tire and ran it for like 20,000 miles with zero issue.
No issues.
You forgot to mention that it can blow for whatever other reason, like running over some debris and you still could be found liable.
if it were my tire I'm not gonna get too bothered by this
Humorous takes on tire removal struggles.
Oh come on let's not split hairs, just eyeballing a tire and saying yeah it looks doable or no it doesn't is hardly a formal inspection service.
Discussion on the perceived risks associated with hookless rims compared to hooked.
I mean they are arguably passing on some of the savings.
Insights on manufacturing defects and their impact on tire safety.
A small manufacturing defect in a cheap tyre doesn't result in the tyre blowing off the rim like it does on a road bike.
Concerns about tread life based on tire choice and driving conditions.
When I took them out for an 8-mile run though, the excessive room became apparent.
Discussion about the weight and impact of dried sealant on tire performance.
Once the sealant has dried it doesn't really add much weight.
My problem is the vibration caused by having the product inside the tire.
