I was very surprised at how good the audio quality is from sonos.
Great starter turntable option
it’s just a damn decent TT at a decent price that will last a long time.
if you are on a budget it's a great entry to vinyl, even for some simple DJing duties if that's your thing.
Reliable performance of LP120X
I think it’s pretty solid.

Direct-drive system
Don’t forget direct drive.
Affordability and built-in features
Affordability. Built in phono pre, decent cartridge and discounts, makes the AT a popular choice.
High quality cartridge and build quality
Carts are shockingly well made and underpriced.
Few if any companies have as good QC as Audio Technica.
Enhanced audio quality with cartridge upgrade
I definitely feel like there’s an improvement in separation and a bit more air and openness from what I can tell.
nice! i really like my grado black 1, i've used it to play at least 200 or so discs with no issues.

Lacks semi‑automatic mechanism
I just wish it was semi-automatic.
Audible hum from Grado cartridge upgrade
Grado cartridges sound wonderful, but are known to have an audible hum on many direct-drive turntables.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
AT‑LP60x feature and value discussion
It’s a huge step up over one of those suitcase style turntables, but it does lack any kind of adjustability.
I found one used for cheaper as the seller upgraded their turntable.
it’s a great turntable, not too expensive and excellent quality, it also looks amazing and is very simple to set up.
You've got a decent turntable with some extra function for ease of use (the bluetooth is a snap) and even a little bit of upgradeability.
Essential turntable design criteria
I am trying to find the absolute minimum criteria to differentiate between good and bad designs.
Well-built and upgradeable design of AT-LPW40WN
pure build quality, material choices and pound-for-pound value, the LPW40WN is a mighty fine choice for a turntable.
I'd say it is above a beginner table.
Agree. Carbon fiber tonearm raises the bar.
I upgraded the cartridge to the vm750sh.. awesome sound.
Unconventional tonearm wiring design in AT-LPW40WN
It is a great table.
Confusing speed adjustment mechanism on LP60
the speed goes absolutely nuts (70+ RPM).
33 screw rotate counterclockwise to decrease. However, 45 screw rotate counterclockwise to INCREASE!
this post just helped me fix it and now sounds as it should.
Debate over features and usability in entry-level turntables
Neither of these are a good choice.
for a beginner who just wants to listen to some music, its great.
I heard it doesn't save bluetooth, so you have to re-pair everything every single time you turn on the device.
it is super quick and easy.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Rediscovering vinyl through fun turntable experiences
this "cheap" turntable doesn't sound amazing but is just soooo fun to me that it got me back into listening to vinyl.
The best turntable is the one you actually use.
if i want fun and that little ritual of putting a huge 12" colorful PVC disc on a platter, i've got the sound burger.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Revised model identification and connectivity questions
How do I know I'm purchasing the REVISED model?
How can I tell if mine is the revised model or the original?
How do you find the sound is connected to old school phono?
Entry-level turntable options and budget considerations
This is a affordable and convenient option including Bluetooth.
would these also be good?
what is your total turntable and speaker budget?
Confusing pricing and value proposition for Audio-Technica turntables
At that price point, the Technics 100C and 1500C seem way, way better values.
At that price I'd like to at least see a higher-spec stylus than the competition.
I’d have put a VM530EN or at least a VM520EB on it.
Know your place, Audio Technica.
Entry-level turntable suitability and limitations
If your getting into analog audio and don’t think you’ll be able to tell much differences in sound quality, then that is a great turntable to start out with.
Audio Technica makes great affordable tables.
Generally, this is a fine beginner turntable.
Feature trade-offs for budget newcomers
Don’t get the LP60 as it is a very limited entry level table.
I'm thinking I'll go with a quality turntable with more classic features.
If you need fully automatic and easy setup beginner plug and play then get the better AT-LP70X.
Because you want to use a Bluetooth speaker you already have that lacks a wired AUX input?
Speaker/amplifier setup guidance
Sorry but theres some terrible suggestions here.
You need an amplifier somewhere in the chain, but worry not, the world makes powered speakers with amplifiers in them!
This audio technica video tells you everything you need to know about your model turntable including what other equipment you will need.
You 100% need something that amplifies turntable signals.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
AT‑LP60x record safety reassurance
You are fine. It will not damage your records.
So no, the ATLP60x is not a 'bad' turntable that will damage your records.
Have no concern with it damaging records.
I've had the older ATLp60 for almost 6 years and no problems.
AT‑LP70xBT design criticisms and queries
Thanks to that cartridge, a perfect stepping on point for those who can't afford much more.
for an automatic that is an odd choice if not a design flaw...
Now I see the new LP70xBT is being released, upgraded stats…
It's such a shame as it's a nice looking unit, sounds good and is very capable for the price point.
Mixed experiences with AT-LP70XBT upgrades
All told, I recommend the AT-LP70XBT if you want simple, zero setup needed record playing bliss.
It's really nice to hear that this model isn't garbage.
The LP70X is a good turntable, but not really worth upgrading to if you've already got an LP60X.
I've sadly not had a good experience with this table.
Debate over automatic vs manual operation on entry-level turntables
the Sony might appeal to the masses, but for me, it's like having a self-driving car.
You can still operate it manually -- just pick up the tonearm and put it on the record by hand.
It sounds okay, not great, but better than average.
This is a decent turntable and you were not wrong when you bought this turntable.
Debate over drive type and vintage vs new trade-offs
I'd get the direct drive.
At the price range you're shopping you had to have a heck of a time winnowing down the options.
$450 for a 'new' turntable is not going to get you much.
None of which matters because I don't plan on spending 1k+ on a turntable.
Normal vinyl playback rumble is inherent
The better the turntable, the less rumble.
It is normal.
Normal part of playing records, don’t stress about it too much.
Turntable cover stability under cat weight
It's not gonna collapse but when the cat stands on one side it's going to tip the table some.
It'll hold (my cat is 12lbs) but don't let them jump on it while it's running.
8 lbs is the maximum recommended cat force for this player.
