The AUTOWN Tire Repair Kit is designed to efficiently fix punctured tires for various vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, and ATVs. Users appreciate its effectiveness and ease of use, often stating, "Crisis averted for $12" when faced with flat tires, while many others confirm its reliability for temporary repairs, noting that they have successfully traveled long distances with plugs installed. Despite some concerns regarding the reliability of plugs and their temporary nature, the product is generally recommended for those seeking an emergency solution for flat tires.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Effective for tire repair
They say it’s not 100% but I’ve used these plenty of times and they have worked 100% of the time for me
Still have a plug in my Duratracs on my ZR2 after 25k miles. No noticeable leaks.
Put extra tire repair stuff as we don’t carry a spare.
The tire is now holding at 39psi, but the instructions indicate that I shouldn't drive faster than 50mph with this sealed tire.
Effective for temporary tire repairs
Should it be any more complicated than that?
Agreed, have used plugs kits for 20+ years at least a dozen times and never had one fail before a tire needed replacing anyway.
Yeah I made it from MA to FL and back with a plug in May and it's still going strong
I’ve had multiple plugs in multiple tires over the last 30k miles of LA roads and still holding fine.
Easy to use with clear instructions
Easy fix just follow directions.
Yes, patch is better than plugs. But sounding kinda over dramatic about the plug 😆
Useful for tire repairs
tire inflator, tire repair kit.
These are the ones I purchased.
Includes a comprehensive toolset
That’s an easy fix. Cost you less than $30 to buy a full kit and so it yourself.
Saved users in emergency situations
Saved me that one time I got a flat. So not completely useless.
It's intended to get you able to drive just long enough to get somewhere safe or to a tire shop to get a replacement tire.
Effective for basic tire repairs
Just wondering if this can be patched?
100% that can be plugged or patched
A plug by itself or a patch by itself is an improper repair.
Does it leak?
Convenient for emergency situations
And everyone should carry one in their car.
Provides a solution for flat tires without a spare
Luckily it was in a place I could patch.
I now keep this tire repair kit and an air compressor in the car.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Not 100% reliable
that puncture is about as good as it gets for being repairable.
If a random tire can fail so can a patch.
Only thing that goes in the hole is a plug but it’s not even air tight.
Once you put sealant, you can't repair the tire.
Plugs may cause slow leaks
Plugs though, almost always LEAK!!!
I always tell people patch over plug any chance you get.
Same. Second tire still has the bolt it in and hasn't lost air.
Not suitable for sidewall repairs
Plug failure doesn't cause a blowout, just causes a leaky plug.
But tractor tires don’t spin at 70mph, just not apples to apples.
I've put a plug IN the sidewall, but it was just for 60 miles, I replaced the tire.
I know plenty of people who have used them with little to no issue.
Temporary fix, not a permanent solution
It's a temp fix you can perform on the side of the road to get to where you can do better...
I think that's a bit extreme.. yea sure patches are better but plugs work just fine on most situations.
It’s a gamble and a risk. That’s why it’s not recommended.
Tire repair kit caused leaks
The capsule finally did what I was anticipating.
Not effective for actual tire repair
Managed to limp it after filling up three times with air to Firestone, where they informed me that you can’t patch a tire that’s had fix a flat or whatever in it.
It's... Not a tire repair kit
Everyone should toss that thing out and spend $20 on one of these: https://www.harborfreight.com/heavy-duty-automotive-tire-repair-kit-58593.html
Can cause leaks
I double bagged mine (because they have a habit of leaking) and put it in the front trunk, hoping to never use it.
Not suitable for all types of repairs
A slow leak you can just fill back up and make it to a tire shop to get patched.

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion on run-flat tires and their performance
Sure a tire shop will not start working on any type of tire that was run flat, it's hopeless.
Run-flat tires enable the vehicle to be driven even if the tire pressure drops due to a puncture.
Those run flats are shit!! Been thru 3 this year so far.

Discussion on the decline of spare tires in new vehicles

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Different methods for puncture repair
Fed up with fixing punctures and then finding the patch falls off as soon as you pump the tyre up.
You need to lightly scuff the area around the hole with the small piece of sandpaper that comes in the repair kit, apply a thin layer of the solution in an area larger than the patch you want to apply, then let that solution dry.
Always thought the chalk was to mark the hole so you don't lose it too.
IME most kits with a small bit of yellow crayon to mark the hole.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Comparative effectiveness of plugs vs. new tires
well at least the customer gets a new tire and feels safe and someone who's broke as fuck gets a good tire that's patched up and safe
And as any tech knows, anything brand new off-the-line is not 100% either. Sweet spot is probably a few months of use/battle-testing.
Comparisons of plugs vs. patches are common
I worked 16 years at a tire shop. Plugged thousands of tires. You are correct and 90% of the people in this thread are clueless/brainwashed by misinformation.
Preference for quality kits when self-repairing
If you're going to be in the middle of nowhere and dependant on yourself to self repair, you should absolutely go with quality stuff:
Discussion on the cost and necessity of proper tire maintenance
Tires are the shoes of a car. You can tell if someone has money or is just trying to look like they have money by their shoes, especially the ones on their car.
Yo, if he has this he should have a backup car and drive that. You're not allowed to have a broke day if you're driving a Porsche.
Concerns about proper maintenance and containment
Let the dealer know and they'll replace the kit and the carpeting.
Now I am worried.
Preference for professional tire repair solutions over DIY kits
Never plugged a tire. Can I plug this?
Take it to a shop. They have patches with integrated plugs that will last the life of the tire
Many big tire stores will repair that for free. Just give them a call.
Comparison to other tire repair solutions
So like fix-a-flat?
Discussions on the necessity of tire repair kits
Everyone with a car should be able to do this one basic repair by theirselves.
The instructions on the patch say it is a temporary solution because they don't want to assume liability for all of the morons out there.
Discussion on what to include in a flat kit
What's in your flat kit? Advice needed! Flatted today on my way into the office. Realized I need to
My tool roll includes the following: * Tire lever * Patches (Park Tool GP-2 have served me well) *
Small and effective.
Used to flat a few times a month from thorns. Switched to Marathon Plus tires and have had one flat

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Common experiences with tire punctures
I've plugged my car's tire (singular) about 3x now and it's doing great.
I’ve probably got about ten in my tires right now.
Zero problems until I replaced the tire.
Does well on sedans but not so well on trucks and SUVs.
Experiences with using plugs vary widely
I plug tires constantly and have never had one fail. Ever.
The “blow out” is from moisture getting into the cords causing them to rust and eventually break.
Concerns about plastic T-handle safety
It’s easy to see how any side loading or over pressure can send that steel rod through your hand.
Perception of luxury car owners and their tire maintenance habits
Driving a Porsche you should be able to afford tires come on!!!
There is a reason for that - here a BMW and Merc servicing costs are covered by the lease agreement, but not tyres.
Too many people trying to flex on low income....the reason half of California cars have bald or wire showing tires.
You do realize you own a half million dollar car 🤦🏻‍♂️
Common experiences of neglecting tire care
the amount of people who bought a Ghibli for $18-25k and couldn’t afford to even change the oil was insane.
Combine that with some expensive maintenance parts like a compressor job for the air suspension that cost 5k.
Varied experiences with tire puncture repairs
Big tire tells you punctures on the corner like that are not repairable…
