Snoop's Take

The Beeline Moto II is a next-generation motorcycle GPS tracker designed to enhance your riding experience with its compact, waterproof, and user-friendly features. It provides a minimalist navigation interface that allows riders to focus on the road while receiving essential information such as speed and distance. Users appreciate its compact design and the distraction-free navigation, with one rider noting, "It’s a great device if what you want is minimal interface, no distractions," while others highlight its impressive battery life and ease of use on long stretches of road. However, some feedback indicates limitations in urban settings and complex navigational scenarios, with users stating that it can be confusing in dense areas and lacks detailed junction information. Despite these drawbacks, the overall sentiment is positive, with many riders recommending it for countryside rides where minimal guidance is beneficial. Given the strengths and weaknesses highlighted in user feedback, the Beeline Moto II is recommended for those seeking a straightforward and reliable navigation tool for leisurely rides, especially in less congested areas.

However, over a long stretch, it does have the benefit of my not starting at a screen.

Positive Feedback

I find it much more distracting to ride with than a phone GPS, and distraction is not good for new riders.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Compact and distraction-free navigation
However, over a long stretch, it does have the benefit of my not starting at a screen.
I like mine as I don't want my phone on my bike but I wish it had audio prompts as well.
Useful for long stretches of road
On long stretches of road it's great, but when you have 200m till a turn and 10 or 15 different possible turn points over that distance, it becomes very confusing.
For navigation on highways or other spots where there aren't a number of options for turns that could mislead you, it's fine.
Secure mounting options
It gets delivered with a plastic case where you put the nav, but this case is held in place by 2 rubber bands.
Not even Thanos will be able to take it out.
Easy to mount once figured out
Was the bigges ring like you said. Had to exert some pressure on the rubber ring so the hole aligns with the screw but at least its on now.
Nice one that’s what I had to do but it’s on and you can forget about it and not have to worry, ride safe.
Minimalist interface with no distractions
Beeline Moto II -- anyone riding with one? Haven't installed it yet, but I'm writing to ask: 1: How
It’s a great device if what you want is minimal interface, no distractions.
If you don't want a screen and hate audio directions, it's great.
Brilliant for countryside rides with minimal distraction
Beeline is brilliant for days out in the countryside, clear enough directions with minimal distraction.
Clearer directions with a better display than previous models
Beeline have their new unit, which looks clearer and has a bigger display than the original one, looks like the mapping is better than the simple arrow was too.
Improved mini-map view
Good minimap view. Simple. Super easy mounting.
If it wasn't for this, Beeline would be the clear winner for me.
Insane battery life
The battery life is insane and you hardly have to charge it.
Simplicity in navigation
Absolutely love it's simplicity.
Still beats having a phone strapped to the handlebars imo.
Good for countryside navigation
it's basically like voice navigation but on the bars. great in the countryside.
it's just as accurate as listening to directions, it will not help you with complex intersections, so it's mostly a country side thing.
Low intrusion navigation system
This gizmo is enough for me to enjoy the roads of an unfamiliar area without getting lost.
The folk who have it I've spoken to seem to rate it as a really low intrusion system.
Displays navigation information clearly
with something like the Beeline it's actually displayed in front of you so you can check it a second or two later...
Minimalist design aesthetic
For me I just like the low-key aesthetics of the device and it’s minimalist.
Compact and lightweight design
It’s great for a quick glance - turn left next junction - or “3rd exit on the roundabout ” “37 mph”.
Clear visibility for navigation
the large arrow of the Beeline is clearly visible without wearing bifocals or reading glasses.
Appeals to users wanting simple navigation
I just want simple navigation without having my mobile on my handle bars.
Minimalist design appreciated by users
Basically it’s a handy little minimalist thing most suited to rides where you know roughly where you’re going but just want a little prompt.
Minimal approach to navigation
I like the minimal approach.
So far it’s been wicked and has gotten me to where I needs to go in Vancouver.
Great battery life
The battery on the device is great, the display is good enough until it’s pissing down on a grey English dull evening.
Handy for navigation despite limitations
overall I find it to be handy.
overall I prefer this then leaving my phone on the handlebars, it's a fantastic piece of kit.
Compact and reliable design
It is small, reliable and doesn't look bulky.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Ineffective in dense urban areas
I find it much more distracting to ride with than a phone GPS, and distraction is not good for new riders.
Mounting setup can be difficult
Good to know someone managed to do it. I played around for around 20 minutes but couldn't get it to fit.
I ended up buying a mount that goes on the mirror and it solved my problem.
Subscription model for audio directions is off-putting
The subscription is highly off putting. That’s a dealbreaker for me.
App functionality is lacking
As much as I love the beeline moto 2, the app is pretty crappy.
Lack of detailed map view
This is the main reason I won't buy one... I like to know what junctions or roads are ahead.
Lacks street/route name display for upcoming turns
It doesn't display the street/route name I'll be turning on next.
Not effective in complex junctions
In short it is not perfect but for my recreational riding it is just right and the cost is reasonable to keep my phone from getting wrecked by Ducati vibes.
High price for the features offered
For what it is it's pretty expensive so I came up with an alternative: I bought a second hand Android smartwatch and mounted that to the bars.
Ineffective for complex junctions
I really wanted to like it but it can't beat voice directions.
What kind of lunatic will be checking his Nav system to see if there’s another turn coming straight after the turn you are currently taking?
Requires proprietary app for functionality
It's basically Google Maps' voice navigation but on a screen - there's no map so you're getting things like "turn left in 200yds" which is fine out in the countryside, but I found it very annoying to try to use in town.
Lack of graphical representation for complex navigation
Absolutely would not survive without the graphic representation.
Less effective in unfamiliar areas
If you are looking for something to follow routes on back roads and be ok with missing a turn once in a while and discover something new, it's great.
Beeline Velo 2 does not support motorcycle routing
motorcycle routing is arbitrarily disabled when you pair with the Beeline Velo 2 for no real good reason. Lame.
the piece of shit doesnt work with motorcycle routes lol.
GPS fails to avoid unpaved routes as intended
the funny thing here is that velo 2 does not avoid unpaved routes.
Not useful for serious cyclists
it's not very useful for anyone but the most casual of bicycle rider.
High price for the offered features
Way too expensive for what it is.
Significant delay in audio navigation with other apps
Google maps sometimes have significant delay in audio and doesn't tell you if you're on a junction/roundabout until you've passed it.

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Compatibility with Google Maps
Have good compatibility with google maps?

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Phone mounts may be more convenient for navigation
A phone mount is going to be more convenient than a Beeline.
Exploration of using Velo as a speedometer
Im thinking of using the Velo as a motor bike GPS speedo? will it work?
Exploration of spontaneous rides
Totally want one of these for those "let's go down this road and see where I end up" kinda rides.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Subscription model for additional features
They posted a blog on their website that they've released a subscription for 3,99£ with extra features like audio.
I may be able to do it fairly cheap for the times I use it then 😁
User experiences vary based on location and biking experience
The Beeline is more of a reminder of how long I should be on any route before I turn.
Users have varying preferences for navigation tools
I don’t think the price is too bad and looks quite neat.
Potential future updates for road closures
At now the best solution to me is the Beeline. Not perfect but the best compromise I think.
Marketing for Beeline Moto is appealing, but users are cautious
I'd prefer a smaller device with a simple display taking up less real estate and attention.
Comparison to previous models mentioned
The Moto II seems to address these, aside from the app thing.
Comparison with other navigation methods
Missed turnings with my zumo in full view, also with my google maps on my phone.
User preferences vary for navigation methods
I used to use the bicycle version and it was crappy already. Really hard to follow the instructions.
Potential resale value
Probably will be able to resell with minimum loss so I see no downside trying this one.
Comparison of Beeline products with user experiences
its odd cause this person uses the original velo which they say works just fine for motorcycle riding.
Preference for alternative navigation tools like Samsung Gear 2
Still the best thing I've found is a Samsung Gear 2 watch paired with Google maps.
Comparison with mobile navigation solutions
It seems like a great thing definitely for the cost.
User preferences for navigation tools vary
I guess you could set the route on the Beeline app and mirror it on Google maps and listen that way.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Original design concept for bicycles may affect performance
Wasn't beeline originally meant for bicycles anyway? The concept might work much better at those lower speeds.
I think it would be much better at lower speeds.
Concerns about using phones for navigation
But that means strapping your phone to the handlebars... my phone isn't waterproof.
User curiosity about limitations of Beeline Velo 2 for motorcycle use
I'd be curious to hear if anyone out there has tried it.
