Snoop's Take

Bousnic Shock Collar for Dogs is a waterproof, rechargeable training collar designed to help pet owners guide their dogs through a variety of training modes. It operates via remote control with options including beep, vibration, and adjustable safe shock to influence behavior over a considerable distance. User feedback is a mixed bag: on one hand, many praise its responsive performance and comfortable fit, with one enthusiast noting, 'It works well, responsive, good fits, 99 shock levels etc.' On the other hand, there are notable concerns regarding transmitter reliability, as evidenced by a candid remark, 'I've lost all faith in it now.' Overall, the performance and functionality have sparked diverse opinions, emphasizing both its strengths and shortcomings in real-world scenarios. Considering the debates, the collar is a recommended choice for owners prioritizing range, comfort, and multiple training modes, provided they can tolerate occasional transmitter issues. It's a decent option within its category, especially for multi-dog households and dedicated trainers who value its design and battery life.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Proper collar fit and electrical contact are crucial for effective e-collar performance.
The e-collar strap should be quite tight, I usually recommend tight enough so that you can just barely squeeze two fingers in between the strap and your dog's neck.
I feel like it would be cruel to make it anymore tight, but maybe that's what needed?
No electrical contact, no worky. Resistance is not your friend.
the collar has to be pretty tight/secure to their neck, especially with the winged contacts.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Debate on e-collar affordability versus quality
Don’t buy a cheap ecollar. They’re not reliable in terms of level consistency.
You don't look for an 'affordable' one, you get a good one.
It’s worth the investment, I promise.
A level 1 on the cheaper collar was equal in strength to a 44 on the educator.
Regulatory and legislative actions on e-collars
the owner is not even aware that they are abusive.
using a beeping collar is no different than clicker training and can be a great tool for teaching recall.
Discussion on e-collar training techniques and stimulation usage
I’ve continued training consistently and 2 weeks later I can normally leave the remote in my pocket, tell him a firm “off” when a trigger comes and instead of big reactions, he looks at trigger, looks at me, and continues on his way.
After the first session of using e collar training to reinforce heel, there was an immediate difference and we could walk past other dogs without a reaction.
Just wondering how you got from A to B. I’d love any tips!!
The stim breaks their lock on the trigger, and gives you a brief window of opportunity to give a correction.
Inquiry about non-shock e-collar options (beep/vibration only)
a beep or a quick vibration seems like it might be better than a whistle in some situations where your dog has gotten much further away from you.
Alternative training methods, such as head halters and slip leashes, are recommended over sole reliance on e-collars.
Try training to a head halter.
It got Xena to stop yanking on the leash to try visit dogs and people in a day!
That creates much better contrast with any tension and so dogs learn to respond much better than in head halters.
I can steer him away without choking or hurting him, or face plant.
Professional collar conditioning may improve overall e-collar training outcomes.
Some dogs are like “I can tough this out”. They come back better and work at a much lower level.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Durability issues and reliability concerns with low-cost e-collars
I’d rather get something that isn’t going to break again.
Honestly, it’s made training so much smoother for me.
Dogtra or the mini educator are the top two e collars if you have the money.
These are things that can hurt your dog inadvertently if you get something cheap.
Concerns over using shock for barking leading to unintended stress
good lord she barks.
Shock collars sometimes will help with a problem, but can cause more problems and we have better ways to train dogs nowadays.
I’d recommend against anything that punishes the dog for a behavior.
Concerns that cheap e-collars may cause pain and ineffective training
The reviews seem pretty good.
These cheap shitty collars cause actual pain to the dog rather than just electronic stimulation.
Hard pass.
You get what you pay for, and since you’re not paying much, don’t expect to receive much.
Aversive training tools may only suppress behavior temporarily without addressing underlying issues.
A bark collar only punishes the unwanted behavior. It doesn’t redirect the dog to a preferred behavior.
It might suppress the behavior for a while, but it doesn’t change the underlying emotion.
they will probably effectively suppress the issue in the short term but won't address the root issue.
punishment only will never address the root of the issue.
High-intensity vibration mode can be overly aversive.
He responds to vibrate, but vibrate is reputed to be an even stronger aversive than stim.
E-collars may be inappropriate for very young dogs, suggesting the need for alternative conditioning methods.
5 months is too young for most dogs especially for what you want to use it for.
