What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Powerful performance for tough tasks
it had plenty of power.
Lots of power and it’s light.
Zero problems.
Lightweight and easy to handle
It's light and easy to store, and doesn't make a mess with gas and oil.
It also has plenty of power for me. And two speeds.
Works well with attachments
I have this and it works really well with the rototiller attachment.
Yep me too. Love my 972, it never bogs and the attachments (edger, polesaw and stihl brush) all work amazing.
Effective Autofeed Mechanism
Works well enough. Autofeed thats easy to manage.
Needs better string than what comes with it to avoid getting tangled in the head but works about as well as the echo I put on my Stihl trimmer.
No need for mixing fuel and oil
Not having to worry about mixing fuel and oil and stuff is well worth it.
Standalone hedge trimmer is effective
The standalone dewalt hedge trimmer is great and I use it constantly.
Powerful performance for various tasks
I'm very happy with my flex volt weed eater/pole saw/ edger.
Compatible with various attachments
The flexvolt string trimmer with removable ends is great. You are not limited to dewalt accssories.
Great reliability and performance of the edger
Yes edger is great.
Have it, love it.
Satisfactory performance for light trimming tasks
Haven't had any issues with it.
I have a dewalt 20v trimmer and no complaints.
I’ve been very impressed with both! I can’t imagine ever needing much more power.
Good value for the price
If the 20 is good enough for a half acre with just a few trees, I’m cool with that.
Effective performance with battery efficiency
Just using it for one yard and I maintain my lines so I won’t be cutting in lines with it.
I did everything with a 5.0 battery and still had 2 bars left.
Compatibility with existing Dewalt tools
Plus, I wouldn’t have to deal with the cord.
Powerful performance for edging tasks
Dewalt Edger Attachment Any one have experience with the Edger attachment. Less than great reviews.
Attachment capable tools are beneficial
plus attachment capable which makes it amazing.
if you are trimming 10ft of grass, you don't need that much power.
I am a huge fan of the 60v line of tools.
Powerful performance of 60v tools
I've never tried the blower, but the 60v line trimmer is badass.
Brushless motor provides better performance
922 is brushless motor and foldable; it has easier reload options
922 for sure. prefer it to the 60v.
Overall satisfaction with the 922 model
I agree have one myself and love it!!
Good battery efficiency and performance
I've been using mine for 3 years without issue.
Reliability and performance of the edger
Have you guys used it? How is the reliability? I have all dewalt power tools, but need new lawn equipment…

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Confusing operation due to backward movement
The 18v/20v model spins clockwise towards the user, the FlexVolt attachment capable model spins counterclockwise away from the user.
Bump head is too sensitive and fragile
DeWalt String Trimmer Head Options I’ve got the 20v String Trimmer (DCST922) and love it, with the exception of the bump head.
Husqvarna T35 head works well
Disappointment with the performance of the DeWalt blower
The DeWalt blower sucks for anything but the lightest duty work.
the Dewalt one just doesn’t make enough air speed or CFM to do a job quickly
Poor design and underpowered motor in the trimmer head
poor design and will only last a few years.
Disappointment with the 922 model performance
Get the flexvolt. We had the 922 and was disappointed with it at every turn. The flexvolt is a monster.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Debate on different model capabilities
The DCF870 is the newest model. Its quietest and the slowest since its for fine finish work.
the DCF870 is the slowest? bro, I beg to differ..it’s quite fast actually:
Confusion about product naming and features
So the dcf860 sounds like the model I want.
Looks like you have the DCF887 if you posted the right kit.
Curiosity about new design features
Ya that looks lil cooler and newer lol.
Popularity of Aftermarket Trimmer Heads
many prefer to put an echo trimmer head on after having issues one way or another.
I have the dewalt 60v and got the husqvarna head for it
I put the Husqvarna T35, I think that's the number, it works great.
Curiosity about the locking rod's purpose
What is this doohickey that came with my DeWalt edger attachment? I flipped through the tiny DeWalt manual but did not see anything about it.
It's a locking rod to stop the blade from turning. It's in the manual, figure D on page 2.
Inquiry about the edger's design and stability
Does this edger stand on its own while the motor's off
Curiosity about the capabilities of different battery options
Another advantage of having a 60v battery is you can now use the other 60v tools and people seem to have a tough time selling old 60v tools because no one has batteries.
Debate on different Dewalt model capabilities
The DCD800 and the DCB805 are good drills.
Need for effective length in hedge trimming
However the 20v normal hedge trimmer is a badass piece of kit.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion on aftermarket head options for trimmers
I've been using this for a while and would recommend it, too.
Thanks. Are you able to mount it on a DeWalt trimmer?
Debate on upgrading attachments
I have the brush cutter attachment and its great.
Diverse opinions on edger attachment usage
I”e got the TrimmerPlus one… they’re part of the SBD family of brands, so there’s probably a lot of overlap with the Dewalt one…

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Debate on upgrading vs. buying standalone product
but I currently have 14 5aH 20v batteries, and no 60v tools or batteries, so my decision is probably made up for me.
They seem great but having to invest in 60v flex batteries seems a bit daunting.
Interest in real-world performance comparisons
I really want to know what they amount to real world.
Compatibility of different attachments
The Masterforce FlexConnect attachments at Menards are compatible with the Dewalt DCST972 trimmer head.
Debate on the benefits of combo kits vs standalone products
From what I understand the XR is better and it’s a no brainer to get the combo but wanted to check to make sure
Confusion about model differences
Why are there two models for sale that are so similar?
Debate on best tools for hedge trimming
Has anyone used both?
Discussion on comparing 20V and 60V models
The 20v is fine If you are just using it for string trimming, the 60v is comparable to a good gas trimmer in power.
I’ve had mine for roughly a season and it’s not proven enough of a nuisance to change.
Interest in performance comparisons with competitors
holy shit - it has like 1/3 more power than the 60v dewalt which is already a beast.
Discussion about tool performance comparison
I am considering returning the drill if it is so weak and I was wondering if there was maybe something different between these max xr drills.
Interest in tool return and customer experience
It's possible you got a dud. Happens with every company.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Limited reviews may not reflect true product quality
Other than that I love it.
Debate about design choices and functionality
I cannot figure out why when it's turned on, it moves backward instead of going forward along the walkway.
Mixed reviews on DeWalt trimmers
Dewalt trimmer ? Dewalt trimmer owners, are they any good ?? In particular the 18v ones. I’ve heard very mixed reviews.
