Snoop's Take

The Inline Speed Skates by CYLQ are designed for both men and women who are serious about fitness skating and speed performance. Crafted with a lightweight carbon fiber shell and equipped with high precision ABEC-11 bearings, these skates promise an exhilarating experience for long-distance skating and competitions. Consumer feedback highlights several strengths of the skates, including comfort during extended use, with one user stating, "I don't experience pain from my skates". Many users appreciate the skates' speed capabilities, noting that "inlines are faster" and that they perform exceptionally well outdoors. However, some users did mention initial discomfort due to the stiffness of the skates and a lack of ankle support, stating that they are "very stiff" and lack padding. Overall, the Inline Speed Skates are recommended for those seeking high-performance skates that excel in speed and comfort for distance skating, provided users are prepared for a break-in period and understand the minimal ankle support offered.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Comfortable for extended use
I don't experience pain from my skates. They're not like wearing slippers, but they're comfortable for two or three hours without a problem.
Good fit can reduce pain
it seems like the pain comes from not having the right fit.
Good for distance skating
I’d like to have a pair of skates that would do well if I got motivated to up the distance a little.
More comfortable than other brands
The Bont Jet is much more comfortable than the Luna.
Inline skates are faster due to wheel arrangement
I’ve been able to go fast but it takes a lot of energy to do so and I’ve been debating switching to inline skates for this purpose as I’ve heard it’s easier to go fast and you can go at higher speeds.
Inlines are faster. The bigger the wheel the better.
You can go fast on inlines because of how they're set up if i'm not mistaken. If you're outdoors you'll mainly go faster on inlines because of the wheel arrangement.
Better speed performance outdoors with inlines
If it's in your budget I would go for both because both are fun for different reasons.

Where it needs some work!

May cause initial pain due to stiffness
you will feel pain when you start out. they can be very stiff by design and it will correct your form.
Speed skates lack ankle support and padding
I have skated on speed boots with long frames (4×110) in NYC, and while it's fine and do-able, it's a hell of a lot more fun to skate with an agile set-up with a shorter frame and boots with ankle support.
They don't have ankle support, they are very stiff, they don't have padding at all.
Instability in urban environments
they are a significant handicap and not practically faster than a freeride big wheel skate.
Speed skates are less comfortable than higher cuff boots
Are you sure you want a speed skate boot? They tend to be less comfortable than a higher cuff marathon boot.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Diversity of skating experiences
can't rental skate in an outdoor park my man. otherwise, some fair points :)
Differences between inline skate types
What's the difference between each inline skate type? for example there are freestyle, aggressive, r
aggressive skates are skate parks, street, grinds - mostly tricks oriented. little wheels, grind plates. Usually not skated A to B.
Freestyle skates, are between aggressive and recreational. You can do A to B, they are rigidity built to sustain jumps, stairs, drops etc. But also have big wheels for speed, no heel brake.
can you use aggressive skates to street skate? or are freestyle skates better?
Comparison of wheel sizes for speed
I was amazed by how much better the 110mm wheels rolled compared to the 84’s on the old speed skates.
Importance of fit for performance
Foremost, fit is super important.
Discussion on achieving higher speeds with bigger wheels
bigger wheels would make it easier, but you could just work on your technique and achieve it without spending on a new setup.
You will feel a lot of ankle strain when you get started on the bigger wheels, but with practice you will be GooD :)

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Speed skates can be used for various skating styles
Yeah don´t get fooled by joey mantia. Love his reacent dabbling in urbanskating a lot though.
Quads are better for dancing, inlines are better for speed
But you can do either skate style on either type of equipment.
Variety in skating experiences
Skating on 110 will be a game changer for you to do longer skate sessions.

Consideration of budget vs quality
Overall, with skates you get what you pay for.
Not everyone even has access to rental skates.
I agree that the around $200 dollars is where you get good skates, but I also think the $100 dollar skates are good to see if you even like skating in the first place, while still getting a fair amount of learning in them.
It would have cost less, overall, if I’d bought nice boots up front.
Pain can be mitigated with proper fitting
Nothing too fancy. It may take a bit to build up to 20-30 miles; you'd need to build the new muscles, the front of my shins and the outside of my calves were fire for a few practices getting started again.
Even with the poor form on the new skates, it took 2 practices on the new skates to go from a 13second lap to a 12 second lap with about the same effort.
Fear of transitioning from hockey skates to speed skates
am I ready to have my first speed skates, and are they really an upgrade compared to those Maxxum skates?
Exploring city skating with speed skates is possible but comes with challenges
They still work, but a rec skate will handle this much better.
If I use speed skates my legs are going to be fucked.
Speed difference between quads and inlines may not be noticeable for non-competitive skaters
You can’t go as fast on quads as you can on inlines generally, but you can go fast still.
Consideration of budget when selecting skates
if my budget were strictly sub $200, I'd probably be looking at the 2024 Rollerblade Lightnings or the FRXs for the stuff I do, which is a mix of everything and a whole lot of F around and find out.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Speed skates are less maneuverable than urban skates
A low cut race boot isn't going to be good for anything other than speed skating and races.
Speed skates are pretty awful for urban skating, which is why Joey used urban skates in the streets of NYC.
Experience of being slow on both quads and inlines
Meanwhile I’m busily proving the inverse as I am slow on both.
