Snoop's Take

The John Deere 35024 Tough Tractor is a robust and durable toy designed for sandbox play, featuring a die-cast metal hood and tough plastic construction. Its soft plastic tires and steerable front axle make it a great choice for children who enjoy imaginative play and want a realistic tractor experience. Users often praise the tractor for its well-made design, with many stating, "It’s seemingly bulletproof and incredibly easy to work on," highlighting its reliability and craftsmanship. While the feedback on the John Deere 35024 is largely positive, some users have expressed concerns about the company's policies and repair difficulties related to their larger tractor models. For instance, a user mentioned, "These good for nothing God damn cockroach motherfucking tractors!! Ain't a God damn one of em easy to work on!" Such sentiments suggest a mix of appreciation for the product's quality while recognizing frustrations with the brand's broader practices. Overall, the toy tractor is recommended for its category as it provides an enjoyable and durable play experience for children.

Positive Feedback

Too little too late. It's why I'm currently shopping for a $40,000 Kubota and not a Deere.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Strong dealer support and accessibility
It's seemingly bulletproof and incredibly easy to work on.
Reliable and efficient tractor performance
I feel like starting a war. The John Deere 7810 is the best tractor ever made
that 2wd 7810 is a great planting tractor, cant beat that
Advanced software enhances farming efficiency
Deer may as well be a tech company at this point.
Good size motor for tasks
I like that it has a good size motor, but worry about actual size of tractor.
Well made machines
Well made machines.
Reliable performance over time
1500 hrs and all original.

Negative sentiment towards John Deere's policies
Too little too late. It's why I'm currently shopping for a $40,000 Kubota and not a Deere.
I'm happy for the farmers, but the downside is that this doesn't make John Deere suffer as it should and never try and do this again.
Tractors are difficult to repair due to design and software restrictions
These good for nothing God damn cockroach motherfucking tractors!! Ain't a God damn one of em easy to work on!
Anything that is mechanical can be repaired by anyone willing to pull the wrench.
Wait until you need to replace a sensor that requires it to be activated on the computer.
If you modify your tractor to not meet emission standards, John Deere gets in trouble.
Farmers face issues with emissions control compliance
Do you know what most farmers do when they change software? Delete emissions controls.
Almost every part of the tractor has to be running correctly to meet emissions controls though...it's not like you slap on a catalytic converter and suddenly the tractor meets emissions standards.
Tractors are being designed with a bun of extra sensors that can fair and with limitations on engine output controlled by software in order to meet emission limits.
> If you modify your tractor to not meet emission standards, John Deere gets in trouble.
Concerns about warranty voiding with unauthorized repairs
That's all anyone wants at the end of the day.
That's illegal.
Lower quality compared to traditional John Deere models
They aren't as high of quality.
Just not sure if the John Deere brand is worth the cost.
High costs associated with repairs
Just change brand.
Seriously, John Deere needs to make money, if we let farmers fix their own traitors, think about how much money John Deere would lose!
John Deere's market dominance limits choices
So... not sure why you are trying to make this political.
Loader controls placement is inconvenient
I much prefer the R.
Concerns about parts availability
As long as there's dealer support I wouldn't hesitate to buy one.
It still does everything I ask it to do and more.
Limited resale due to brand preference
I think I’ve owned one of everything from Allis Chalmers, to Zetor, I don’t recall many people buying their second Branson.
No right to repair policies
Farmers in USA are hacking their John Deere tractors with Ukrainian firmware, which seems to be the only way to actually *own* the machines and their software, rather than rent them for lifetime from John Deere
Good for them. John Deere company sucks with their no right to repair policies.
That is really disgusting, can't believe they don't let you repair some thing large and simple like your tracter. The right to repair should be added in law.
And I wish when ever his tractor ha problem, He can fix it easily instead of buy a new one or ordering stupidly expensive official repair. That's the most important thing: right to repair.
Complexity of modern tractors
Tractor is far from simple . They have advanced chips , navigation GPS ,hydraulic systems , environment controls.
I agree you should be able to repair, but, there's nothing simple about these new tractors that have all that Def and EPA crap on them.
You are missing the point here. The tractors they are hacking self drive based on GPS, IMU (inertia measuring units), and optics.
Concerns about expensive repairs
Like my grapple will stop working randomly and I gotta reset it like a PC.
Issues with software and hardware compatibility
So it still kind of works out in JD's favor.
Frustration with John Deere's service and issues
Has anyone used a Kubota m5/m6 and what did you think of it?
just get a kubota they are great machines that perform as good

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion about old John Deere tractors and their history
This old tractor was brought out by a friend of my dad’s to be stored for “a few months” about 40 years ago.
Well hot dang, that's a Lindeman conversion.
Whoaa, that's a BO Lindemann crawler :0 some pretty serious value in those, plus they're super cool.
This John Deere wins the game (unless a red tractor shows up)
Discussion about naming conventions of John Deere tractors
JOHN DEERE How does JD name their machines? ( as in : the difference between a 4440 and a 4630)
From the early '70s through early '90s, the numbers denoted what line the tractor was in.
Completely relevant fact, In 1928 they switched from C to GP because it was hard to tell if customers were saying D or C over the phone
The first digit denotes frame size, the second digit denotes engine power relative to the other tractors in that frame size, and the last two reference when it was made.
Comparative discussion on bucket setup between John Deere and Kubota
John deere or Kubota? Compact yard tractor
Either are solid.
Discussion about farmers' rights to repair their own tractors
John Deere relents, says farmers can fix their own tractors after all
Comments reflecting on societal perceptions of farmers
Reddit's majority stance is essentially "Farmers are stupid hicks, that's why they don't hate GMO Crops, Monsanto, and John Deere like us city-folk who know all about farming"
It's rediculous how they vote for a political party that favors large corporations over people and competition then buy a tractor worth tens or hundreds of thousands they can't fix then think the government should do something.😒
Reflections on the role of farmers in the community
Most of them are barely scraping by.
Mention of Yanmar as the manufacturer
They’re made by Yanmar.
Historic context of John Deere tractors
Their business is booming because the cost is still 1/3 of a new one and you can actually work on it yourself.
Comparison of old and new tractor technologies
My friends combine is almost like agri Tesla
Comment on the quality of accessories with the tractor
the King Kutter's and Land Prides are basically scrap metal in the long run.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Discussion on the historical context of John Deere tractors
John Deere Promised Farmers It Would Make Tractors Easy to Repair. It Lied.
Discussion about potential aftermarket suppliers and competition
The FTC should never allow Apple to get into automotives, then we'll have three companies who will not honor right to repair, Mercedes, BMW, and Apple
We need an open source tractor. I think Open Source Ecology is actually working on one.
Discussion about dealer service importance over brand preference.
New holland or John Deere? My grandpa wants to get a New Holland because his old Ford tractors are still running solid (The farm has expanded and we need a new tractor) but my Dad says John Deere is better than the New Holland tractors today.
Dealer, Dealer, Dealer.
Came here to say this. You aren't going to go "wrong" with either, so instead of worrying about the tractors worry about the service, because crappy service will make even the best tractor seem like a POS.
Nothing wrong with either one. Go where you'd get the best service.
Seeking advice on John Deere models and features
I need a new riding mower never owned a John Deere don't know enough about the models and what to look out for.
Discussion about comparing different types of tractors
John Deere tractors are heavier duty. They're better built.
Also, construction, forestry, and compact equipment. :)
Discussion about John Deere identification for models
Hey guys, Need some help IDing this thing.
John Deere 2020 diesel tractor,
Serial plate should be on the rear, but I'm thinking a JD 2020 or 1020, depends on whether it's a 4 or 3 cylinder respectively
That appears to be the engine SN, not the tractor SN.
Exploration of alternatives to John Deere
New Holland blue and Kubota orange are great alternatives for the JD green.
Probably a dumb question but as I know nothing about farming, could farmers just not buy John Deere…?
Comparisons between John Deere and Kubota
In all reality it’s going to come down to price between the Kubota and JD.
Discussion on upgrading seating for comfort
I am looking into maybe a seat upgrade so that it will take the shock a little better for the bouncy trails.
Comparisons between different tractor brands
Very excited to be getting this tractor, from what research I’ve done they seem good for the price.
Value retention of well-maintained tractors
if you wanna go into some detail about specific models
Discussion on the importance of dealer proximity for tractor purchases
Honest to goodness truth... buy a tractor that has a dealer near you.
Comparative pricing between John Deere and other brands
people say Deere is much more expensive but honestly, with modern day tractors specced out the same, I find very little price different between brands.
Our JD was $20 less then the Kubota model we compared it too, and in mid 2020, was in stock.
Suggestions for finding comparative reviews on tractors
They're doing comparative reviews all the time.
Discussion on the value of RK37 compared to other brands
The tractor would arrive in 7-10 business days but it ended up taking 15 business days.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion about antique John Deere tractors and their failures
Antique John Deere tractor that was a failure? I have heard stories about a tractor decades ago that Deere built but was a complete failure.
Rumor is they sent them all out west on a train and buried them.
Third paragraph from bottom gives a couple theories.
All but one was recalled due to severe transmission problems, were rebuilt and sent back out as the 8020.
Discussion about farmers or tractor owners being labeled unfairly
A local farmer passed away. It’s what I was hoping to hear, strange as that sounds.
I'm not sure why there are people in the comments here suggesting that farmers or tractor owners are white supremacists but I feel that those jokes are in pretty poor taste.
Debate on farmers' rights to repair their own tractors
that these articles and the reaction make people think that farmers can’t touch their equipment at all, which is not the case.
The headlines are misleading. They leave the scroller thinking John Deere prevents farmers from working on their machinery at all, which is false.
Discussion on Right to Repair legislation
Deere basically own the market.
It's alittle more than just firmware.  This has passed 2 years ago.
Discussion on brand loyalty and dependability of John Deere tractors
My Grandpa says they are more dependable and easier to re-sell.
The quality of your dealership will also determine local resale when you’re ready to sell, more so than the brand.
overall, product support and quality was obviously lacking, parts and service delays due to the factory reflects negatively on the dealer.
Discussion on the right to repair movement
Im pretty sure the right to repair lobby just won against John Deere in court and the court forced John Deere to allow thrid party repairs.
Write your representatives, although in NY, even though a right to repair bill was overwhelmingly approved by both parties, the tyrant, and probably bought by the anti right to repair businesses, Hochul, changed it in such a way that it was worthless, and business as usual for Apple, John Deere, etc. She's a POS.
Not much success as I heard, but definitely important for gathering people into that cause. The guy is a legend
Inquiry about service work and warranty issues
any updates on service work. I’ve been looking at the rk37 and the only thing holding me back is possible issues with service work.
