La Roche-Posay Anthelios Tinted Sunscreen SPF 40+ is a lightweight, mineral-based sunscreen designed for sensitive skin, providing broad-spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays. This sunscreen features a universal tint that not only prevents white cast but also offers a healthy glow, making it suitable for various skin tones while being oil-free and oxybenzone-free. Consumer sentiment is largely positive, highlighting the product's effective UV protection and its suitability for sensitive skin. Many users have praised the formula, stating, "None of these products caused any breakouts or stinging around eyes," and appreciate its lightweight feel, with one user noting, "It spreads nicely and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin." However, some have raised concerns about the product's price and potential reactions for certain skin types. Overall, La Roche-Posay Anthelios Tinted Sunscreen SPF 40+ comes highly recommended for those seeking a reliable, mineral-based sunscreen that caters to sensitive skin. Its effective formulation and positive user feedback make it a standout choice in the sunscreen category.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Effective UV protection with new filters
I like the idea of benefitting from La Roche Posays latest UV filters.
Effective for sensitive skin
Black girl sunscreen kids is sold at target and it’s amazing.
If you have oily skin or prefer your sunscreens to be nothing short of *unquestionably* matte, I think this would be a great try for you.
La Roche posay.(European) also very good in preventing a tan or burn however I would still layer.
It seems as those EVERY SINGLE western sunscreen out there has/will leave a white cast.
Provides high SPF protection
We rotate through different brands of sunscreen, but always spf 50 for the kids.
No breakouts or stinging around the eyes
None of these products caused any breakouts or stinging around eyes.
Lightweight feel on the skin
Love the middle one, the other two feel very heavy on my skin.
Its texture is definitely more like other brands' lotion/milk, which for me, makes it easier to apply the full amount.
Overall positive feedback on effectiveness
Good stuff. B seems like the best.
Formulated for sensitive skin
Stick to physical sunscreens (example zinc based) la roche posay makes one formulated for kids.
High SPF protection
it’s been the only sunscreen we’ve ever used on them and have never had a reaction or a sunburn!
No white cast on skin
I like Hydrating Cream because my skin is dry, no white cast (4 to 5 pumps), and doesn’t bother my eyes.
Hydrating cream 50+ is the best.
Ultra Light Fluid is comfortable to wear
The Ultra Light Fluid is the nicest to wear in my opinion.
Provides a healthy glow on the skin
I feel like a nice thick moisture, comfortable on the skin.
Effective UVA protection with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide
Turns out the Neutrogena one is one of the worst ones you can buy based on UVA protection and health concerns.
physical sunscreens (those that contain titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide) are your best bet because they offer broad spectrum UV protection.
Lightweight feel under makeup
I actually loved the way it wore especially under makeup so was really sad that it broke me out.
It wear well under makeup though, and I find it pretty hydrating.
Light texture
I'm glad I did because it's super light, and very comfortable to wear on the face and body.
I always have the best experience with their sunscreens!
No white cast
it's one of the few products that don't leave a white cast.
no white cast, but one down side for me is that the alcohol in it can be pretty drying during the winter.
Smooth, non-greasy texture
Oh! And the texture is smooth, nongreasy.
I like the matte finish.
Provides a good tint and healthy glow
It gives a little color but it blends and just makes my skin look good.
The tint adds a little color but might be off for any pale skin tones.
Good for medium skin tones
I really like it and the tint works for me, but I have medium toned skin.
Spreads nicely and lightweight feel
It spreads nicely and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin.
Good for sensitive skin with no reaction
I have sensitive skin as I use tretinoin and have had no reaction whatsoever.
No white cast after application
However, both of these don't have their PPD listed: only that they have SPF50+ and UVA coverage, and based on European standards, their PPD should be at least 16.
It's very watery and didn't leave a white cast on my hand (I'm about NC25, very yellow).

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Pricey compared to other options
I’m freaking out about if what I’m doing is correct/enough.
Horrible white cast from certain products
I couldn't use this at all because of the horrible whitecast (from the titanium dioxide). I think I tried it once and never again.
Pilling issues when applying makeup
It makes me a little bit shiny but it's definitely tolerable.
I found it quite sticky/tacky and would ball up if I tried to put makeup on top.
Requires a lot of product for adequate coverage
Do you find that the Ultra Light you have to apply a lot to get the required coverage and that you go thru the bottle quickly?
Claims about UVA protection may be interpreted poorly
The EWG is a very biased source.
Would you say the claims about UVA protection and SPF accuracy are correct, or also based on poor interpretations of the science?
Causes eye irritation and stinging
I liked it but it stung my eyes so bad 😭
Stung my eyes *and* stung my face.
Different formulations in different regions
There are different ingredients due to our stupid regulations.
Can cause reactions for sensitive skin
I had a very bad reaction to this sunscreen.
Sticky texture reported
the Light version is slightly sticky on, but it's very easy to use the full 1/4 teaspoon without feeling like I'm suffocating my skin.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Mineral-based creams are preferred for sensitive skin.
the mineral based creams e g. Zinc Oxide based are better.
Kids sunscreens often marketed differently than adult ones.
Is there actually a difference between Kids face sunscreen and adults face sunscreen? Apart from it being 3x the price?
From a scientific perspective: no difference at all.
Most importantly, the best one is the one you'll use.
From a performance standpoint I don’t think so but sometimes kids sunscreens can be less cosmetically elegant.
Discussion about the product's scent
Many reviews say they can not get past the smell.
Discussion about different sunscreen formulations
I can't tolerate whitecast.
I don't really mind the texture of the rich one but it's definitely a cream.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Body sunscreen can be used on the face
It’s marketing, totally fine to use body sunscreen and children sunscreen as long as you’re ok with the texture.

I really recommend an SPF hat in addition.
Discussion on SPF hats for sun protection
You don’t want a burnt head but you also don’t want to deal with sunscreen in their hair 🙈
Interest in alternatives for baby sunscreen
Sunscreen brand for sensitive baby? Which one do you use and do you know if eucerin / aquophor makes one.
Not what you asked exactly, but also think about spf rated swim clothes - rash guards, hats, and full suits.
We use Blue Lizard mineral sunscreen and I’m very happy with it.
For me it was the clean ingredients, coral reef safe, and cruelty free.
Overwhelming selection of sunscreen options
the selection is so overwhelming!
Preference for other sunscreen brands
So far it´s been my favourite sunscreen.
User experiences with different skin types
What if you have combination acne-prone sensitive skin 😂

Thank you so much for not only compiling the list, but also collecting reviews!
While I'm super happy with my Bioderma Photoderm Max Lait, now I want to try some of the PPD 45+ options to see how they compare!
Preference for specific brands
Thank you for this review! I'll have to try and find it online so I can try it.
I’m always on the lookout for a great body sunscreen.
Availability of LRP products in the US
If you have a bluemercury near you they sell it, as well as probably Amazon.
Comparing with other products like Ultraceuticals
Thank you! This is exactly the kind of information I needed :)
Discussion about layering sunscreens
Layering different sunscreens isn't actually a great idea; the different formulas can impact the effectiveness of the sunscreen.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Concerns about using sun cream on babies under 6 months.
I feel I'd rather be safe than sorry!
Concerns about sunscreen for babies under 6 months
What’s a good sunscreen for little ones? I’m a ftm and am lost looking at all the options lol.
My Doctor said the reason they don’t recommend sunscreen is because people will leave their kids out all day at the beach and think it’s ok.
Concerns about carcinogens in mainstream sunscreens
CHECK YOUR SUNSCREEN!!
thankfully I don't use those ones
I stopped because it would give me a migraine every time I used it.
Fucking hell.
Interest in UV filter percentages and their disclosure
I think it is very interesting so I searched for hours to find them from countries where the manufacturers must disclose them.
The % of filters is kinda meaningless to a layperson.
Thanks for all your contributions to the sunscreen world Stav, as usual.
Frustration with US sun protection standards
Im frustrated with the standards in quality for sun protection here in the US.
Different experiences with other brands
If you’re after a good, reliable sunscreen with a pleasant texture you can’t go wrong with Anthelios.
I’m still not sure I’d bother with this brand, since the first experience was so unpleasant and I have many others that I know I like.
Concerns about the effectiveness of thin sunscreens
I mean to say, like, the sunscreen is too thin?
