Snoop's Take

The Manfrotto Element MII MMELMIIA5BK is a lightweight, 5-section aluminium travel monopod designed for photographers on-the-go. With a load capacity of 15 kg, it provides a sturdy support system for compact cameras, mirrorless, and DSLR systems, making it an essential tool for capturing high-quality images with ease. Feedback from users highlights the monopod's lightweight design and portability, with many praising its ease of movement and quick setup capabilities. As one user noted, "my default is a monopod as it aids in stability and takes the strain off of my arms," showcasing its effectiveness for various shooting scenarios. However, some users expressed concerns regarding its stability for long exposures, stating, "I don’t think I’d trust a monopod for actual long exposures." Overall, while the Manfrotto Element MII monopod is celebrated for its convenience and portability, it is best recommended for casual photography and videography rather than for situations requiring extensive stability, such as long exposures or heavy rigs.

Lightweight and portable
I used a monopod for bird photography because it was lighter and I could get into position faster.
I regret to inform you it costs $2000 for a good telephoto on M43 (an Olympus 150-600mm review) [1](
Manfrotto Element MII 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with Ball Head $69.88 [56% off]
Provides ease of movement and setup
I also use mine to get my camera way up in the air over crowds and use a remote shutter release.
Lightweight and easy to carry
In an effort to pack light I was considering just taking a monopod.
I also have a Giottos monopod, which is nice for some situations where I need light and more stability.
I also use a Manfrotto monopod for most of my shooting during a wedding day.
Durable and reliable construction
Thank you for that valuable advice!
A decent monopod or tripod will outlast all of your cameras.
I’ve had my manfrotto with feet for over 5 years and it’s great.
My Monopod is a Manfrotto. It’s a tank that still has so much life in it.
Quick and easy setup
I can totally see that being a problem.
Quick setup compared to tripods
Monopod or Tripod? would love to hear people’s opinions and choices as im trying to figure out if i
that ifootage is so quick to set up compared to a tripod.
Convenience for shooting
I shot a whole show on monopod cause of the convenience.
if you want to just switch your camera in between them anyway, Buy something like this.
Easily portable for run-and-gun shooting

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Not stable enough for long exposures
I don’t think I’d trust a monopod for actual long exposures.
Didn’t really get along with it as it was never stable enough to be really be useful.
A monopod is best for video work and taking steady shots on the go.
If you can do that, you might as well just shoot handheld.
Limited stabilization compared to tripods
If you need stabilization then a monopod is not the correct choice.
Stabilization issues for heavy rigs
I wouldn't trust a $200 monopod to hold my $3000+ rig.
Limited features for videography
Videography monopods often come with feet/threads and other features to make them work better for video work.
Sections become stiff and difficult to retract
I have to bang the tripod leg on the floor to be able to get it back in.
I’d be concerned that if I did manage to get it out somehow, I’d never be able to get the thing back together haha!
