Snoop's Take

The NEEWER MS60B LED Video Light is a versatile lighting solution designed for photographers and videographers seeking high-quality, adjustable lighting. With a color temperature range from 2700K to 6500K and a bright output of 40000lux, this compact light is perfect for various shooting scenarios, including interviews, live streaming, and studio photography. Consumer sentiment around the MS60B highlights its affordability and performance, with many users praising its value for money: "they are the best, most affordable lights I’ve used." Additionally, feedback indicates that its compact design and portability make it easy to transport for outdoor shoots, as noted by users who appreciate the balance of quality and convenience. However, some feedback raises concerns about durability for heavy location work and outdated technology compared to newer models. Overall, the NEEWER MS60B is recommended for those seeking a cost-effective, bright, and versatile lighting solution. While it may not be the most durable option for frequent movers, its performance and affordability make it a solid choice in its category.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Affordable and good performance
Neewer has a large, affordable ecosystem that appeals to me solely for the price.
I can only afford neewer products and so far have no complaints.
I haven’t had them long yet, just a couple of weeks, but I have a pair of the MS150C RBG lights from Neewer and they seem great for the money.
Neewer has a sale on their FS150B light at $140.
Compact and easy to carry
I actually just built a fairly robust single-subject focused lighting setup with mainly Neewer gear for sub $900.
Being able to bring them to shoots is kind of important, so you have to find a balance of #1 and #2 that work for you.
I like the Neewer's myself.
Loving every minute of this!
Affordable and effective lighting solution
they are the best, most affordable lights I’ve used.
I’m already happy to have them over my Viltrox LED panels.
Good color accuracy and performance
Personally I would avoid the Neewer gear. They tend to use cheap LED beads and overdrive them to get the stated specs.
The Magenta and green color spill is incredible bad.
Versatile for various shooting needs
I think a set of two or three Neewer panels is enough for first steps in video making.
Its a good light. The bigger models are even better.
Bright continuous lighting solution
Absolutely fantastic. Unbelievably bright.

Concerns about durability
The Neewers may not hold up as well if you’re doing a lot of location work, loading and unloading the gear.
If you were asking for a light for your desktop, web stream or podcast with a couple friends, something to set up in a small studio and never move or change, then the lower half of that list is fine.
The Neewer Equipment is in my personal experience always the lowest of the lowest possible Quality.
Outdated technology compared to newer models
I don’t recommend that light, it’s several years old at this point and their color science has gotten way better over the past few years.
I don’t recommend that light, it’s several years old at this point and their color science has gotten way better over the past few years.
Green tint at higher color temperatures
I'll return the Neewer 660, they are okay, not bad lights, but they're just not for me.

For video: Product videos: amaran f22x or f22c, amaran 200x, Aputure 60x spotlight (kicker, edge light).
Discussion about using gels with continuous lights
I've searched around and can't find a really good answer to this or the safest way to do it.
this will be a pain the first few times sorting out how to get the gel not to wrinkle, but a few pie cuts may help you avoid overlap or gaps.
Good stuff from Rosco or Lee should stand up to 2kw lights or more.
You can always try tapping the gels to the diffusion material on the soft box.
Helpful review on outdoor Christmas lights customization.
its super bright and the pattern it leaves on the siding is awesome.

if you intend to use the tools to make money, it almost always worth the added upfront cost.
Discussion on budget lighting definitions
What does “budget” mean? It’s a pretty broad term.
“Budget” is a broad term no one can define.
Discussion on Neewer and Godox lighting compatibility
I want to change that. By spring, I want to begin using my own lights for most shoots to really break out of my comfort zone a bit.
Godox. And it isn’t close.
General discussion on the need for professional lighting upgrades
I have been using some shitty newwer led panels for years now and honestly it has gotten the job done however it doesn’t look professional.
Discussion on comparing continuous lights to speedlights
it would be way easier with continuous lights. Either way, it won't hurt to have a few continuous lights at hand for future projects.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
General preference for Godox over Neewer due to product improvements
Neewer might get there one day, but Godox keeps getting better and adding more products to their lineup.
Godox are currently as good as name-brand.
General commentary on lighting setups and brands
My take: two panel lights, and then a COB LED monoblock style light like the Aputure 120 or the Godox SL60 (if budget is super tight). More power is always welcome when it comes to overpowering existing light (when needed).
General thoughts on studio strobes vs continuous lights
Everything else is a P.I.A. to work with.
