Positive Feedback

It really doesn't offer any "fun" outside of reading CEL... Which if you don't have any then you wasted $15.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Effective for monitoring vehicle performance
I can set up gauges on my phone to monitor while driving.
It's an essential item IMO.
What does a $400 one do that a $40 doesn't?
As you go up in price you'd get extra features like being able to get codes from transmission and airbags.
Ability to pull and clear check engine lights
I'd only spend $100+ if it were capable of reading manufacturer-specific codes.
I've been known to leave my SCT X4 connected and running gauges.
User-friendly app for diagnostics
Love VCDS.
I love being able to quickly screenshot my diagnostic codes or just Google them right on my phone.
Where exactly in the intake system do you read your pressure off of?
Broad compatibility with various car brands
despite having the obd port ....and despite having a 2006 model year which means it should work in UK by a good few years earlier, but damn blast did it take me a while to learn about the forscan dongles on eBay 😁
Fast scanning and frequent updates
Always scans pretty fast and has more information then most on most vehicles, and like the previous comment, updates pretty consistently.
User-friendly Bluetooth functionality
I got the bluetooth driver as well, it's great.
Ability to read live data and delete codes effectively
It also does live monitoring, will read your mode 6 data, takes freeze frame snapshots, has a database of the most common causes and fixes per code for your specific car.
Effective tool for reading vehicle data
it's been a great tool yet.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Limited functionality for non-mechanics
It really doesn't offer any "fun" outside of reading CEL... Which if you don't have any then you wasted $15.
Even a $10k snap on zeus scanner can't do this.
Even the $400 ones don’t have full access to the vehicle’s programming functions.
May not provide detailed diagnostics for all vehicles
A generic OBD2 reader can be better than nothing to get a basic idea of a problem.
Mine was a little over $200 IIRC and has saved me lot of time with manufacturer-specific issues already.
Inconsistent Bluetooth connections
I've purchased 2 of those scanners and both eventually wouldn't connect over Bluetooth.
I purchased one long time ago it worked flawless.
Some scanners may be unreliable or low quality
I am extremely happy with this thing, since I can use my smartphone to operate it.
Can drain car battery if left plugged in
never had an issue for months until i was not driving for a week and my battery was dead.
My OBD reader will drain the battery in about 36 hours.
Potential issues with microcode causing crashes
There’s something wrong with the microcode since it would hard crash after 3 weeks or so.
