Snoop's Take

The Renogy 2000W 24V Pure Sine Wave Inverter is designed to convert DC power from batteries into AC power for running various appliances, making it ideal for RVs, trucks, and marine camping. With a peak power capacity of 4000W and a high energy efficiency of 92%, it provides reliable power while protecting connected devices through multiple safety features. Consumer sentiment around this inverter shows a mix of appreciation and criticism. Many users commend its performance, stating that "I ran a 5000 BTU window air on it with no problems on a deep cycle battery," highlighting its effectiveness with resistive loads. However, there are notable concerns about the product's reliability, as some users reported issues with defective units and poor customer service, with one stating, "there are an overwhelming amount of negative reviews that mention defective products and terrible customer service." Overall, while the Renogy 2000W inverter has received positive feedback for its energy efficiency and portability, potential buyers should weigh the risks of inconsistency and customer service challenges. It may be recommended for those specifically looking for a budget-friendly option in mobile installations, but caution is advised regarding its reliability.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Good performance for running appliances
I ran a 5000 BTU window air on it with no problems on a deep cycle battery.
Buyer beware: Sun Gold Power TLDR: This Company does not stand by their product, operate on good faith, and does not honor their warranty or return policy.
what is the best brand for full time off grid solar system set up?
FCK RENOGY. Trash company trying to pretend they are advanced/easy to use/premium like apple, but instead it's horse manure in a pretty wrapper.
High energy efficiency at 92%
A 100Ah LiFePo4 will outperform any lead battery.
Flexible installation and portability
Super archaic I'm sure but it's worked for me so far.
Good performance with resistive loads
I have seen it powering a 2400 watt kettle.
If you want to run inductive loads, you need a low frequency inverter.
Useful for mobile installations
The only thing I’d recommend renogy for theses days is small mobile 12V installations for vans/compact RVs.
Convenient remote control feature
Struggling to find other makes that are in the 3000 watt range, any suggestions?
Comes with appropriate 4 AWG cables
Is 4 awg the correct size wire for a 2000W 12V inverters.
It's not the way I would do it, but it does work.
Good product quality
Renogy Solar Panels - What to Choose? I am sourcing out my solar system and I see that Renogy sells
Good product.
The products seem to be high quality and perform well.
Very happy with it.
Good value for money
Bang for the buck it’s hard to beat in my opinion.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Inverter failed shortly after purchase
Had one of their hybrid inverter which worked for a week and then died.
I'd say no.
What makes some inverters more valuable than others?
Poor quality of solar controllers
I've had 2 of there solar controllers. Nether was any good.
No you need a different charge controller for wind.
Inconsistent performance of PowMr equipment
I’d avoid altogether.
The amount you will get from wind is about the same as one or two panels.
Poor customer service and support
Really useful, they should know more than me about their products.
General dissatisfaction with product quality
Renogy is consumer solar. Pretty packages for budget products.
Inconsistent performance with inductive loads
Just returned my third Renogy inverter because the 3000W inverter couldn’t power a 1500w device.
Not saying that this is everyone experience, but it’s unfortunately been mine.
I’ve never been able to run my fridge on it.
Failed products and poor customer support
it didn’t do half the stuff it was advertised to do.
Defective products and poor customer service
there are an overwhelming amount of negative reviews that mention defective products and terrible customer service.
They are the walmart of solar.
It's not the highest tech or highest quality, but they are ubiquitous.
Inability to repair or replace parts
Renogy doesn't actually make anything - they just badge stuff made to their specs.
Misunderstanding of product capabilities
Some folks think they can buy a kit and run a 4000w AC system off of it and either burn it up or be mad and leave bad reviews cause they don't know how things work.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Concerns about inverter wattage limits and applications
I think I will just not buy anymore and be happy with what I have got.
If you can put the DC-DC converter fairly near the 12v end of the run, then you only need a short bit of the stupid-thick wiring required by 12v.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Exploration of off-grid system setups with various brands
Just looking for a little clarity and understanding.
Very high quality kit.
Sweet thanks for the recommendation!
Everything is built into one unit and they’re smart enough to do all the transferring internally.
Discussion on DIY solar power systems
I want to start messing around with solar power but I want to DIY my system instead of getting an off-the-shelf solution.
Discussion on adding wind power to an existing solar system
I’m thinking about adding wind energy to this system and I don’t know how to do it.
I suggest you start with reading https://www.solacity.com/small-wind-turbine-truth/ and then build/buy an anemometer to get (long term) info about the 'actual' wind speed at your proposed location and height.
If you have a *huge* budget, on the other hand, it might be worth it.
I always recommend solar before wind.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Discussion on inverter compatibility with different system setups
I believe the 5000w is 48v. I'm going to stick to a 24v system.
Is it possible to use the turbine instead of PV to charge my new lithium batteries with the solar inverter?
Want to move away from my generator as far as I can.
Goes on to never actually naming said 'famous engineer'.
Discussion on reputable brands for inverters
Recs for 1000W pure sine wave inverter? Looking for some advice on reputable brands for a 1000W 12VD
Good brands that come to mind are victron, xantrex, and magnum.
Looks like those brands are in the ballpark of $400, give or take, for 1000W pure sine wave inverter
I know there's a lot of junk out there.
Mention of recommendations for different brands
I use this one, works great and super cheap.
Discussion on alternative inverter brands
Check out Samlex or Xantrex both solid.
You really need to stretch you mind a little and start thinking in 48v.
Victron makes a 3000VA (I think that’s about 2400 watts) inverter charger that is 12 volt input.
Discussion on solar system setup and efficiency
I wanted to start small and build up to a 1000W system.
You'll need at least a 50 amp at 24v. Using a 24v inverter would be more efficient.
why get 10x 100w panels as opposed to for example 4x 400w panels?
That should be costing around 50 to 60 cents per watt.
Mention of power outage experience
Funny enough, I actually lost power for 6 hours yesterday during the wind storms in the midwest.
Discussion about sizing solar and battery systems
I would like to run a tv, pc, phone chargers, laptop, playstation, electric heater (not all, but some at same time) and some other devices in my fixed accommodation.
First, forget wind, just size the solar and batteries slightly bigger.
Concerns about mobile system costs
I think 25k sounds like a lot more reasonable as a beginning pricepoint.
Recommendations for solar panels and concerns about their efficiency
What concerns me is overcast days in winter in Europe where I live, there is light of course, but not much some days!
Discussion on wind power efficiency and limitations
Unless you live in an ideal place with lots of *consistent* high wind speeds, skip it.
Discussion on battery bank size and settings
I have to turn the heater off which isn't sustainable if I am using it for my tiny cabin.
I will use that equation to better help me.
Lead-acid batteries can only give you half the Amp Hours before Low Voltage.
Tiny wind turbines are great at making noise and burning out, but not much else.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Mention of cold weather affecting inverter performance
When its -20c here I get overvoltage fault with only 4 100w panels in series.
Concerns about brand reputation and product reliability
If you Renogy when you're supposed to Victron, you're gonna have a bad time.
