I really think I need the reassurance that the baby is breathing properly, at least at the start of being a mom.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion about Samsung's accessibility features for deaf users
I found out that samsung has a sound notification under as accessibility today and it did notify my phone.
Best bet would probably be looking for a baby monitor recommended for deaf parents.
General discussion about smart device integrations for monitoring
It has Alexa integration so I can bring it up in my FireTV whenever I want.
Who's giving up their phone for this in these days of living digitally?

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion about linking Ring security cameras to Samsung TVs
I feel like the smart home convenience is just not worth buying all new devices of the same brand.
You don’t need the Samsung hub, download to be fair smartthibgs app and link your ring to it and you will be able to see it.
I did figure out I can mirror my phone to the tv and watch the camera feed but only if I mirror first and then start the live view camera feed.
If so and you have a Firestick you can see your cameras.
Discussion on using temperature sensors with baby monitors
I use a temperature sensor because that’s one thing baby cameras have that’s useful.
I completely agree that it is a super useful part of the baby monitor.
Discussion about smart home ideas for a baby nursery
Wife approved Baby Nursey automation.
When the door opens between the hours of sunset and sun rise, the lamp turns on dimmed to 1% brightness which is just enough to see, but not so much to wake the baby up.
Love it.
it is MUCH easier on the eyes and it doesn't ruin your night vision if your eyes are adjusted to the dark already.
Curved ultra wide monitor benefits
Honestly, if you work in an office, or space isn’t a concern, I’m not sure an ultra wide really makes sense just for office work.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Comparison of baby monitors and their notification systems
The phone, through video, is better as you can see the baby movement (see the baby actually crying).
Discussion about finding baby monitors with specific WiFi features
I can't seem to find any baby monitor that has a parent unit that uses WiFi.
I recently found a vtech that works with wifi and has a parent unit, but I believe the parent unit is not actually on the wifi.
VTech has monitors that have a monitor unit and use both a direct wireless connection and WiFi when out of range.
I'd recommend getting a wifi enabled baby monitor and purchasing a cheap Android device or tablet to use as the parent unit.
Preference for non-WiFi connected monitors
I wanted a closed circuit monitor with no WiFi.
I love that it isn’t on WiFi but the picture is clear and it doesn’t run my phone battery down.
I still opted for a non-wifi monitor.
Discussion about the effectiveness of smart devices as baby monitors
A smart device is not a good baby monitor. Dedicated devices are much better for that.
Discussion about window management software for productivity
I absolutely love my dual monitor setup.
The main issue with office work, I have found, is if you present in virtual meetings and use multiple programs during the presentation.
Curved super ultra wide is great for productivity (you get three monitors in one).

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion about anxiety related to monitoring devices
I really think I need the reassurance that the baby is breathing properly, at least at the start of being a mom.
Personally, I didn’t want one because I thought it would make me more anxious.
You may find video/audio helpful to get a sense of what baby is doing that you wouldn’t get from a breathing monitor.
I love my owlet sock.
Concerns about WiFi baby monitors being hacked
I just found that our baby monitor has been hacked. (Which is super expensive garbage. The resolution is shit.)
Baby monitors are the easiest of wifi devices to hack into, making them the perfect door to the rest of your devices.
You want a baby monitor that runs on a radio antenna like the Infant Optics DXR-8.
Discussion about baby monitor security and privacy
Disgusting pieces of shit out there. Just wrong.
I immediately unplugged the thing.
General dissatisfaction with other baby monitor brands
The only weird "quirk" I've seen is if my phone is too close to the monitor sometimes it will say "out of range".
It’s called Wyze. We love it.
I love it and already have 2 in the house.
Great product for a great price.
Concerns about WiFi security for monitoring devices
I, personally, have hacking concerns about these but my significant other is as pilot so he is gone for a week at a time and will probably want to sneak a peak at the baby at night or in the morning.
I use my echoes as a baby monitor in different rooms do a drop in a mute the mic at your end also have the show to see the kids room.
Discussion about hacking concerns related to streaming monitors
The Philips Avent SCD630 is one of the few that is truely hard to hack due to its rotating frequencies (adaptive FHSS).
