Snoop's Take

The Schick Hydro Sensitive Razor Refills are designed specifically for men, featuring 5 blades that provide a close and comfortable shave. Each refill is equipped with a comfort coating for an easy glide and skin guards to minimize irritation, making it ideal for those with sensitive skin. Consumer feedback highlights the effectiveness of these blades, with many users noting, "they work really well for me despite having EXTREMELY sensitive skin." Positive sentiments revolve around the comfort and closeness of the shave, with remarks like, "I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it felt, and I was getting a decently close shave with it." However, there are concerns regarding the price of the refills and issues with the blades falling out of the handle. Overall, the Schick Hydro Sensitive Razor Refills are well-received for their comfort and performance, making them a recommended choice in the cartridge razor category despite some criticisms regarding cost and product reliability.

Provides a comfortable shave
I like the way it shaves but is there any comparable products with a better value?
I don't have any other alternative because I've yet to find anything compare.
But it was a quite nice shave I will admit, they did know how to make a quality razor!
A nice shave with the classics.
Schick blades provide a fine shave
One of the things about injector razors is that they clamp the blade very tightly.
Blades work well for sensitive skin
they work really well for me despite having EXTREMELY sensitive skin.
Blades perform reliably
these blades sure do work pretty good for me.
Comfort coating for easy glide
I have been using the Schick Hydro Sensitive for men for years.
Comfortable shave
I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it felt, and I was getting a decently close shave with it.
I find they give a much more comfortable shave compared to comparable priced razors and shaves as close as any cart gets.
Great availability of Schick blades
I only use Schick blades, because they're freely available here, and I think they're great!
Provides a close, irritation-free shave
a Schick Hydro 5 is the best option for me. I can get a BBS with no irritation and I can do it very quickly.
They are to prevent cuts and nicks.

Cartridge refills are too expensive
Gotta rake in that money I guess - look at that price!
For that price, you're better off getting a DE and a 100 pack of blades.
Blades fall out of the handle
Falls out of the handle? Like, the razor doesn't hold the blade securely?
Slide a blade in, pull out the injector, give it a shake under the water and the blade falls out the side.
Right now, the Chinese Schicks are the only ones that work for me.
Cartridge razors are considered expensive
Cartridge razors are garbage and expensive.
Irritation and cuts with every use
I actually think they're horrible every single time I use them they tear my face up always Nicks and cuts every single time.
They seemed to play down their presence on the cover picture.
they seemed to play down their presence on the cover picture, and I didn't realize they were there until the box they came in was open.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Preference for different blade types
Just love the classic shaves.
With the Sensitive SkinGuard I can run up down/ against the grain and it’s impossible (for me) to draw blood.
I use it because it's a sustainable shave, and cheaper.
Still wish the Sensitive cartridges would last longer… I can get ~8 intense shaves out of one.
Discussion about other razors like Schick Krona
Old school - Schick Krona is a very underrated razor
Krona is very underrated razor, mild yet efficient it's just perfect for people who shave often.
IMHO, the Schick Krona from the '60s and '70s is the best-performing DE razor ever made.
Discussion on blade preferences and brands
it sounds like you are trying to solve Supply's problem with their product.
Discussion on the origin of Schick blades
I don't know what they do or how they do it, but apparently they're good.
Fun fact, you get them very cheap.
Comment about changing blades based on skin sensitivity and beard toughness
My skin is sensitive but my beard hairs are tough, an odd combo, so I change more frequently.
Visual appearance of razors can influence perception.
Visually it looks kinda stupid to me, how is a wire in front of a blade going to give me a better shave?

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Alternative razors like safety/DE razors require skill
It offers superior smoothness. BUT there are downsides.
Dollar Shave Club offers a cheaper option
If you only shave your face, you'll get more mileage from them.
Safety razors as a cost-effective alternative
If you are really trying to get a cheaper shave, look at a safety razor where blades costs about $.10 a piece depending on the brand.
Discussion about different types of razors
Definitely recommend that you try one of these razors once as it's a completely different experience.
Which razors do you have (other than shavettes) that take half a DE blade?
I just have a thorn, but I might pick up the yaqi single edge that uses half de Blades.
A single edge blade (the feather one on the right) can also be created by snapping a double edge blade in half, right?
Comments about learning curve with safety razors
Just know it will take a bit more time while you learn.
Experiences with other razor brands and types
All the other razor brands i've tried never gave me a close correct shave.
I can't believe I'm saying this but... it almost makes shaving my legs enjoyable.
The German blades glide through my course thick pubes armpit hair leaving it very smooth.
it's literally changed my life.
Discussion about cheaper alternatives to Schick blades
surely there is a cheaper way to get razor blades of Schick quality in bulk.
Packs of razor blades are very cheap ($9 for 20 on that site, but plenty of other places sell them too) and they last for ages.
it’s something like 7cents or less per shave on average.
less irritation than the 3/4/5 blade contraptions from the supermarket.
Discussion on razor models and comparisons
The Krona is a good medium/mild razor that's comparable to a Gillette Red Tip.
Discussion about the technique required for Schick razors
Impossible! Unthinkable! 130 clean shaves!
Comparison of Schick to other razors and blade longevity
I've done 130 with a Gillette Guard razor once, but my second pass was with another razor.
Discussion about switching to safety razors
Once I learned the technique it has all but disappeared.
Can you explain a little more about technique?
There's a reason they're called safety razors.
Discussion on alternatives to razors
I think I've found just the razor I can use and not dread shaving.
Discussion on different razor types and brands
The Schick Type E used to be my desert island razor, beating out my DEs and SEs. It just does everything well.
I agree the head is a bit bulky and a pain u set the nose but besides that I have had pretty good luck with it.
Your 1912 is probably the best all around SE.
I didn't notice enough of a difference between Personna and Schicks so I just use the less expensive Personnas.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Wetshaving is a fun activity for enthusiasts
Wetshaving is a fun thing for me to do. It isn't a life and death situation.
Discussion about razor brands and ownership
It's not surprising that they sell their razors under both brands.
Discussion on the performance of different razors
I feel like my mach3 doesnt give the smoothest shave and wears down a bit fast.
Conversation about blade preferences and experiences
Just use what works for you perfectly.
Historical pricing insight into razors
the honesty of that statement makes me more likely to go for their offer over the Gillette.
Wow. Makes a Feather at $.40 per blade when you get 100 look insanely cheap.
I appreciate the honesty.
Challenges of achieving a perfect shave with safety razors
Keep using the brush and soaps/creams whatever you choose! They are better than the canned stuff by far.
I understand that the Schick Hydro 5 worked well for you, but did it work better than, for example, a slant?
A lot of us I think, enjoy the journey, nicks and all.
Many of us live our lives searching for that ever elusive 'perfect' shave that you have achieved.
