Snoop's Take

The TronX Stryker Soft Boot Ice Hockey Skates are designed for recreational ice hockey players seeking comfort and affordability. These skates feature a soft shell, cushioned padding, and a stainless steel blade, making them suitable for casual use and beginner players. Consumer feedback highlights that these skates fit true to size, with one user noting, "They fit more 'true to size' than the missions, width excluded." Many appreciate the lightweight design and the overall value for the price, with sentiments such as, "They look decent for the money." However, some users caution that the lower-end models may not hold up under intense use, suggesting that while they are comfortable for casual skating, they may not be suitable for long-term or competitive play. Overall, the TronX Stryker skates are recommended for budget-conscious players looking for entry to mid-tier hockey gear. While there are concerns about durability and brand reputation, they provide a good balance of comfort and affordability for recreational use.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Fits true to size compared to other brands
They fit more 'true to size' than the missions, width excluded.
I went from size 10 with the RS to Alkali Fire 1s in size 9.5 and width was no issue at all.
Lightweight design
Super light 1 piece carbon boot and a pretty good chassis.
Affordable prices for hockey gear
Hockeytron.com came up today - anyone have any experience with this site ? Is it legit?
it's legit and relatively affordable.
Good value for entry to mid-tier gear
Some products are great value (protection). Some are not so good (sticks & skates).
Legit retailer with positive experiences
They have free shipping over $99. It is legit though.
Another confirmation of legit.
Comfortable padding for warmth
Hi all, Any comments or reviews for the Tronx Stryker skates?
[tronx-stryker-senior-inline-hockey-skates](https://hockeytron.com/collections/senior-inline-hockey-skates/products/tronx-stryker-senior-inline-hockey-skates)
Most god uncomfortable skates ever…
Affordable price for budget skates
No plans longterm to play roller though.
Decent quality for the price
for $50 you're probably not going to find a better shin guard.
I had a Tron bag that was only $30-40 bucks that lasted a 14 week beer league season and then looked pretty haggerd.
Decent value for the price
They look decent for the money.
Extremely comfortable skates
They were extremely comfortable and pretty darn protective.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Lower-end models may not hold up for intense use
the soles of mine started cracking just after the warranty expired.
Not suitable for intense use
I bought tron skates for my brother in law so he participate in the family summer roller hockey games.
Tron gear is generally considered low quality
it looks like a solid option for about half the price.
The stuff just doesn't hold up or last compared to the big brands.
If you need to save a few bucks a ReAkt 150 used would be better than a new Tron.
their actual gear is pretty crappy.
Doesn't hold up compared to more established brands
Tron isn't really known for its quality, so when you think about how that bucket is a clone of Bauer's least protective helmet, you're probably better off getting an actual 4500
Uncomfortable for extended use
my feet cried. Granted, I'd already been skating in my old Bauers until the toe cracked open, so maybe I'm spoiled, but I was shocked at how bad cheap skates could feel.
Quality of lower-end models is poor
Most entry level skates come with a crappy two piece chassis that's prone to bending
Inconsistent quality of Tron equipment
Some of it is old designs they bought (mainly CCM and Mission) but it's very hit-or-miss as far as quality.
Durability concerns with lower-end models
some of the kids I coach are looking at buying some gear from Tron. I know their stuff is decent for jerseys and accessories but had no idea they made protective gear.
tron stuff is cheap. don't expect it to last.
Tron products are low quality and built to a low price point
I will be joining beer leagues and pickups. Let me know everyone and thanks ahead of time!
Polycarbonate masks are not protective enough for ANY type of adult level play and that's even from the established brands.
Knock-off products raise safety concerns
No experience with them, but I don't trust knock-off products in general, especially where safety in concerned.
Not a reputable brand compared to others
Trying to save a buck on skates will only cost you more in the long run.
I appreciate your input here. Do you see anything about those that scares you away other than them not being name brand?

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Tron and Alkali are related brands
Tron and Alkali are one in the same, so either one will work.
Tron gear perceived as budget alternative
Features are all there for a pad that would probably cost you 150 from bauer, but theres no carbon, special foams, or proprietary materials or treatment for the fabric.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion about other skate options
the best, but it might be tough to find them in your size
If you want cheap I’d atleast buy the Bauer RS skates if they fit your foot profile.
Discussion about personal experiences with boot covers for skating
Most of the boot covers I've seen have been made with thicker yarn and larger needles, so I was definitely making A CHOICE with my yarn and needle size, but I think it works well with the color work.
Oh fun! I’m a figure skater too!
My two worlds collide! I’m also a figure skater

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Comparison to other brands suggests diverse sizing experiences
Alkali’s are the same boot sizing as True’s I think.
the revels were the first really solid skates they made IMO
Budget considerations for skates
Budget is a big consideration for me.
I think the best beginner deal right now is last year's Alkali 3 series.
Being a big lad means you'll need to spend a bit more anyway as they'll be under more pressure and the entry level ones would probably not last you that long.
Recommendations for skate fitting and local shops
If you get skates that hurt your feet than you won’t stick with playing and you’ll waste event more $ than had you spent a little more.
Comparisons to other brands and models for beginners
Nice thing about the Bauer RS/RSX is they open up for wide feet and cinch down pretty well on narrow feet.
Sizing charts may not reflect true fit
Never go by skate sizing charts, which is where the 1.5 sizes down from shoe is.
You have to let your feet decide the skates.
Personal fitting experiences vary widely
What do you mean by toes barely touching the front of the skate see the problem is that with me is that I get ingrown toenails if my toes have any sort of touching to them while I’m skating so if they’re touching the top or the side of the skate or the tower of the skate like anywheres I’m gonna get Ingrid toenails plus if I’m wearing socks as well so what do you guys mean by barely touching
Your toes should barely touch the inside of your skate with the ability to wiggle your toes up and down but not side to side. If you can’t feel the front of the boot with your toes they are too big.
My dad always said "Your skates should feel like an extension of your foot. You shouldn't be able to tell that they're on." I wear a size 9.5 shoe. My last skates were size 8, but normal width. I would constantly have sore feet and everyone offered different advice (eg. get insoles; it's lace bite, don't tie your skates so tight). My newest skates are CCM size 8 (but DD width). When I finish getting dressed they feel like a comfortable pair of boots.
wear a 10, 10.5 shoe and have a 8 boot fit 3 in bauer. as others have said, gotta try them on. I put on about 4 different skates after doing the foot imaging tool.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion on entry-level skate reliability
Haven’t played in over ten years, but getting back into it! Looking for recommendations for decent entry level skates.
Discussion on skate durability on asphalt
Best Puck For Asphalt/Concrete/Outdoor Rinks IDS, TronX, Green Biscuit's Roller Hockey Pucks, The Rocket Puck, Mylec, Bauer Silvver, etc.
They are going to get really chewed up and will need to be replaced much quicker than on sport court.
