Any thoughts on the Uniden bearcat 980 SSB
I have followed all the steps and tutorials I can find for tuning my radio as far as squelch and RF gain controls.
Discussion about SWR calibration methods and challenges
I have verified everything is tight and connected correctly to the SWR meter, "ANT" to antenna, etc.
I had a really awful SWR reading that was almost off the scale and just moving my antenna a few inches on my car dropped the SWR to under 2.

Discussion about the types of conversations on CB radio
What you talk about on CB radio I imagine it’s mostly “move the fuck out the way” sort of talk.
Staying safe on the highways and by ways and keeping the airwaves clear.
It’s what you make of it. Channel 19, driver coming from where you are going to….you can ask them about road conditions, is the scale open, ask about detours if you need one, Smokey Bear report, and other general questions.
Mud duck. The reason I don't use mine much anymore.
Mention of broken radios affecting use
My radio broke over a year ago, and that guy is the reason I haven't gotten it fixed.
Discussion about antenna calibration issues
I’m not getting a SWR reading when I went to calibrate my CB
Discussion about high SWR readings and installation issues
A few days ago they were along the lines of CH1: 3.9, CH20: 4.0, CH40: 4.1.
Move the antenna mount to the roof if possible.
The picture of the coax connection to the antenna is a bit blurry.
I have the center wire connected to the antenna and the outside wire connected to the mount for grounding.
Discussion about the reputation of GE CB radios
Most of the radios on there are 'vintage', including several from GE.
Mention of vintage GE radios perceived performance issues
They seemed like okay performers but both had segments of the channel display out.
