Snoop's Take

The BLACKSTONE 22" Electric Griddle Nonstick with Lid is designed for both indoor and outdoor cooking, making it a versatile addition to any kitchen. This large griddle offers a nonstick surface, allowing for an array of cooking options from breakfast items to stir fry, providing a convenient solution for meal preparation. Consumer sentiment has been largely positive, with many users appreciating the ease of use and maintenance. As one user noted, "I love mine. I cook pork chops, salmon, burgers, stir fry and breakfast on it all the time." However, some users expressed concerns about the griddle's ability to achieve the desired crust on food and its performance compared to gas models, highlighting the challenges of cooking with electric appliances. Overall, while the BLACKSTONE 22" Electric Griddle is highly praised for its versatility and ease of cleaning, potential buyers should consider the feedback regarding its cooking performance and price point. It is recommended for those seeking a convenient cooking solution, particularly for indoor use during inclement weather, but users looking for high-temperature cooking may want to explore other options.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Nonstick surface is easy to maintain
Way less maintenance.
I assume I should not due to the nonstick surface but any advice would be helpful.
No seasoning needed.
Versatile cooking options
Got the e-series. 100% worth it.
I love mine. I cook pork chops, salmon, burgers, stir fry and breakfast on it all the time.
Easy to use once accustomed
just takes some getting used to.
Fun for indoor cooking
Electric Blackstone? Anyone try or buy one of these? They come in 17", 22", and 22" with cart.
Seems like it could be a fun way to do indoor hibachi, teppanyaki, and breakfast/pancakes right in the middle of the table.
I have the 22 with cart and I love mine. It doesn’t get hot enough to get a good crust on a smash burger but I use it constantly for breakfast items.
I think it is great for home. I guess it works for camping if you have electricity.
Versatile for various foods
That electric griddle coated in some sort of nonsense? Smoke up the whole kitchen if your cooking hot enough to sear meat.
An electric griddle doesn’t compare to seasoned steel.
Easy setup and controls
just bought the 22' e series I enjoy cooking on this instead of my stovetop.
I'm really liking it so far easy setup easy controls cooking within minutes out of the box.
Easy to clean
Love it and it’s very easy to clean.
Displays temperature accurately
once set it has hash marks that show how hot the surface is so you arent trying to cook when its too cool.
Effective grease management
it worked great.
Convenient for indoor cooking during bad weather
I've got both the 17 and 22 at my campsite and at home, and I think it's well worth it just to be able to cook indoors with it on rainy or ridiculously cold days.
Great for cooking breakfast items
I think the Blackstone absolutely destroys anything electric when it comes to dishes that require a lot of intense dry heat such as fried rice or stir fry or putting a crust on a steak or burger.
Convenient for quick cooking
The point of an outdoor griddle is for flat and even high heat with loads of space.
Allows for outdoor cooking without mess indoors
I like the room on it and I like the mess staying outside.
Improved design elements
New Blackstone Griddles for 2021 - Lowes Culinary Series and Walmart E-Series Electric Griddles
They have definitely upped their design element this year over years passed.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Does not achieve desired crust on food
I can’t get the same crust on my food on this ceramic coated nonsense.
Electricity doesn't heat as well as gas
Has less to do with the griddle and more to do with the fact that electricity can’t get the griddle as nearly as hot as gas.
Cools down significantly with multiple items
the giddle will cool clear down to 350° and zero crust.
High price compared to functionality
The electric Blackstones crack me up because they’re basically just repackaged electric griddles that have been around for decades.
High price point compared to functionality
Looked at them but for the price couldn’t justify it between a regular electric skillet that’s like $25 Max.
Was hoping that the Blackstone with its premium price point accounted for those flaws.
Temperature drops during use
Temp drops.. but sure to he expected with such a thin griddle plate and being electric doesn't help that either.
Customer service issues with product failures
I have one of the 17 inch Blackstone e series and it's trash.
To date, still have not had any updates on the parts. They could have made contact with me with a status update.
I wouldn’t buy a Blackstone to use with electric.
Nonstick surface deteriorates over time
Most of the complaints I've seen are lack of heat retention and the nonstick not lasting.
Electric model is less reliable than gas counterparts
That is so disappointing to hear.
Does not provide the same flavor as charcoal grilling
It’s just a fad. A steak cooked on a cast iron pan is going to be better as far as flavor goes.
Electric griddles have limited temperature reach
Why do electric griddles always have non-stick cooking surfaces? Even Blackstone's electric model is non-stick.
My uneducated guess was always electric griddles don't reach the temps has models do?
This was my guess also. The same reason you can’t take non-stick pans to a campfire.
Electric appliances are generally limited to a 15 amp plug. Every electric griddle/pan/skillet I have used had trouble getting much hotter than 400 or so.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Advice on using nonstick utensils with the griddle.
BE Sure to get some good silicone utensils. You should not be using metal ones on this nonstick surface.
Discussion about nonstick versus other materials
Cast iron or rolled steel would create to much smoke inside your home I would imagine.
Discussion about gas stovetops vs gas griddles
What's wrong with having the 36" blackstone in the house? Some people have a gas stove, why not a gas blackstone griddle? If you ask me that is way more usable than a stove anyways LOL.
General excitement about electric griddles
Electric Griddle worth the premium? We are considering the electric griddle to take on vacation with us and then to replace our current cheapo griddle.
Discussion about previous design improvements
Thanks I totally missed that when it was originally posted. I have seen them mentioned on some FB groups.

Discussion about needing electric appliances for apartments.
What is the best well rounded electric griddle on the market? I am looking for something that can do it all.
It handles everything from pancakes and bacon to perfectly seared steaks and smash burgers without any issues.
Lowes has these 28" griddles with a lid for $100.
Recommendations for other electric grilling options.
Made out of USA Marine Grade stainless steel and reaches temps of 550F
for an indoor grill its is one of the best i have seen for even heat distribution across the whole cooking surface
Discussion about electric appliances for apartments.
this will give him grill vibes lol
Price comparisons and potential for lower prices at Walmart.
Walmart buying power! If the model number matches up exactly, I’d buy the Walmart one with confidence.
Walmart may very well have their own custom model that is sold only through their company and could be some form of exclusive in size or operation.
If you wait until the middle of September, the prices will be dropped steeply.
I just bought mine at Walmart and it was 100 less than Lowe’s.
Need for indoor cooking options during winter
Nice…it would be cool to have an indoor option.
Might have to cop for those cold winter months.
Discussion on comparisons with cheaper alternatives
Why not just get an electric griddle for a lot less?
Considerations for cooking style and appliance needs
I think i wouldn’t worry as much about the mess i make while cooking and cleanup would be easier with the blackstone.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion about electric appliances for apartments
My family does a fair-ish bit of camping, and I recently found out about the Adventure ready griddle, the 20" version that folds up like a briefcase.
Comparison with the 17" model's issues
The 17" is wracked with issues. I've heard the 22" is better.
I love it as far as how it cooked but damn the issues.
Limitations of electric appliances in heating
it can get quite hot. But the power units on the electric griddles are much smaller (from what I remember... It's been a while since I've messed with one)
General discussion on electric cooking appliances
If you’ve ever left cast iron on an electric hot plate, you know exactly how much heat electric elements can create.
