Snoop's Take

The SanDisk 32GB Ultra 100MB/s SDHC Memory Card is a no-nonsense storage solution designed to fulfill basic memory needs without any frills. It provides essential capacity and steady performance ideal for casual photography and everyday device usage. The community’s feedback is as mixed as they come; while a few loyal users insist, “I’ve never had one fail electronically,” many others lambaste the product for being overpriced and rife with counterfeit risks. Comments such as ‘Do Not Use SanDisk Ultra Memory Cards In Your Dashcam’ underline concerns about its subpar 4K performance and limited durability. Several voices also caution buyers to be wary of Amazon’s inventory shenanigans. Overall, the tone is sardonic yet pragmatic, reflecting a blend of cautious endorsement and skepticism. In conclusion, if you’re a budget-minded user who prioritizes affordability over blazing speed or professional-grade reliability, this card may serve your needs. However, for anyone demanding robust performance and guaranteed authenticity, the weight of negative feedback suggests looking at alternative SanDisk lines or other brands.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Affordable high capacity storage
this is still an affordable mass storage option.
Reliable performance and longevity
I have only used SanDisk and haven't had any problems with them.
I have had good luck with them and Lexar.
All in I can’t recommend them enough.
In 20+ years professional work I never had a problem with SanDisk.
Adequate performance for Nintendo Switch
Basically, Ultra is the slowest. But considering the Switch only reads at the maximum of 90 MBs, Ultra is good enough.

Overpriced with poor value for money
They look nice but for something you’ll very rarely ever see it’s not worth they extra price lol
I wish they wouldn't do this, looks like I'm buying an overpriced Gengar SDcard.
Another thing to waste your money on.. after you buy this you put it in a device and don't look at it again for awhile.
Sandisk with Nintendo Switch is just a sponsor product.
Risk of counterfeit products on Amazon
I must say it looked legit. The packaging was exactly as you would expect from a SanDisk product.
I always run it through a program to make sure it actually has the reported capacity.
Amazon mixes inventory of the same sku to optimize shipping by either location or to ship the least packages possible.
People also buy these regular cards, swap them for the counterfeit cards and return it to stores.
Poor reliability and quality issues
I’ve either had terrible luck or the cards are trash.
It's very much a liability for anything other than a backup role.
I've had 3 cards from them all die within a year.
Most of the time the card would physically break.
Insufficient 4K video performance
it is not good enough for 4k video.
Shorter warranty period compared to other SanDisk lines
the lifetime warranty being a thing for them meanwhile the ultras is 10 years.
Unsuitable for dashcam usage
**Do Not Use SanDisk Ultra Memory Cards In Your Dashcam**
Yup I wasted my money on two SanDisks that I burned up before I figured this out.
SanDisk's website states that all cards are void warranty in in-car recording devices.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
General SD card speed and class explanation
You can see most brands just put the speeds right on the cards (though that’s also advertisement and doesn’t always indicate the speed you’ll get under every circumstance).
Sometimes if a card isn’t fast enough it can’t keep up with what you’re recording.
Wouldn't Sony do this to confirm compatibility for *older* hardware?
So why all the different ratings? Why hasn’t V-rating, since it is the latest, just replaced all the others?

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Requires compatible card reader for optimal performance
You need a card reader to bust past the normal limit of 100MB/s on UHS-I card bus.
Confusing SD card speed and specification labels
What's up with SD card specifications?
The numbers plastered all over the packaging are generally “up to” numbers like your ISP advertises.
But if UHS-I has a speed limit of 104MB/s how come the card can have "up to" 170MB/s reads?
SanDisk and a few others sell card readers that violate the UHS-1 spec and allow faster than 100mbyte\s reads.
Confusing pricing and product line differences in SanDisk cards
On the surface, it would appear that #2 is faster than #1, bigger than #1, and cheaper than #1.
these numbers are always super misleading as to the actual performance of the card.
What's the deal with ImageMate? That's the first time I've seen it referenced on a SanDisk card.
never buy memory cards in a brick-and-mortar store unless you want to get ripped off!

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Fragility and lack of long-term data protection in microSD cards
microSD cards are among the worst places to store data long-term. They're fragile than most other types of media.
Not ideal for professional camera high bitrate needs
For professional cameras it is not that unusual to see higher bitrates.
Marketing perception of Nintendo Switch SD cards
i think it's just 'cooler' with the nintendo name attached to it.
