6x combo on a slackline 💥
Seems like my best option for two slacklines (one to balance on, one to hang climbing things on) as well as the climbing accessories themselves.
Slacklining has immense benefits on several physical and mental areas, among them brain plasticity.
I practice just sitting on it and balancing for like 20 mins every day and I’m literally falling so often it’s almost funny.
Good for improving balance and core strength
You’re really buying an obstacle course first.
Think more along the lines of moving with the line as opposed to trying to stop it moving; a much smoother motion.
Safety features included (safety line and ratchets)
Having a helper line was hella useful when I was learning.
The first couple days suck, you just gotta have that 'ah ha' moment.
Improves balance and core strength
Slackline also helped me learn to relax my body on command.
Slacklining has made me enormously steady on my feet, which has helped in a litany of ways.
Builds stabilizing muscles effectively
Yup, you have a lot of stabilizing muscles that don't normally get used, slacklining is a really good way to build them up!
Not brute strength, but it does require strong / fit stabilizer muscles.
As your core develops alongside the stabilizers in your legs, you get more and more steady and the line moves less and less.
Improves core strength and balance
Without core, everything above the waist would just flop around!

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Anecdotal evidence of improvement in other sports
Slacklining also made me much better at climbing slabs, doing rockovers, and trusting no-hand rests since I can tell when I'm balanced enough to go without hands.
Discussion about brain plasticity and other benefits
So the improvement in your arches happened after slacklining with shoes? That's really interesting.

If you told me that guy was really really good at one thing and you made me guess I would have said slacklining.
Incredible Slackline balance and focus
Very impressive. Doesn't mean I simply forgive him for selling out Morpheus to the Matrix!
Discussion about slacklining with shoes vs barefoot
Out of interest, do you tend to slackline barefoot or with shoes?
Now I prefer barefoot when it's warm, neoprene diving boots in the cold.
Preference for slacklining with or without shoes
Shoes or no shoes? Hi, first post here, just wondering if you guys prefer to slack with or without shoes? Also if there's any advantage or disadvantages
I prefer no shoes. Main reason is because I like to feel the line.
I agree, but been trying to train myself with shoes so I can slack in the colder months
Get some skinners, they're the best. It's like being barefoot but at the same time I've worn them in snow and been fine
Preference for slacklining barefoot vs with shoes
I like barefoot because I can feel the line better.
Shoes all the way except when slacklining on a beach.
Barefoot. Sometimes shoes when its too cold/muddy/sketchy to land.
I'm with you guys barefooted is my go to.
Winter slacklining is possible with adaptations
Slacklining in the Winter, is it possible? I live in Cedar Rapids Iowa, and it gets really really cold here in the winter.
Definitely possible. As mentioned in the comments, bring some hot chocolate and wait for a day that's not -30, but definitely don't stop just because of winter.
I too am used to barefoot slacklining, and not slacklining over the winter isn't an option. I just bought myself a pair of 'barefoot' style shoes that are water and winter resistant.
I don't see why you couldn't still slackline outdoors during the winter. You'd probably have to wear socks with some kind of waterproof liner inside.

Discussion about slackline shoes and alternatives
Slackline shoes, are skinners a good option? Hey all! When I slackline I like to do this barefoot, but now that it's winter this is much harder.
Haven't used skinners but my vivobarefoots have been amazing on the line. They are pricey but very well made and mine have lasted 5 years now.
Yes I’ll jump on this! I love my vivos, they are the only barefoot shoe I’ve tried but I’m very happy with them.
They are the best! I haven't tried other barefoot shoes either but a friend recommended these (he has like 5 pairs) and seeing how well these have held up... Im personally sold on the vivos.
Discussion about slacklining techniques and tips for beginners
If you are on a 2 inch line, I recommend barefoot.
Um...It's not what I'm slacklining ON, but where I am slacklining.
Most people just in for balancing are going to be barefoot.
I'm in it for the crazy flips, although I am enjoying the balancing as well.
Discussion on techniques for turning around on a slackline
Turning Around on a Slackline I can pretty consistently walk to the end of my slackline, but I really need to work on turning around when I get to the end.
Hope that helps! I love just cruising back and forth on a line without getting off.
I try to switch it up, though, so I can get smooth turns to the right and to the left.
That's the way I do it. I'm also crouching down a little during the turn, makes it easier to keep your balance.
