Positive Feedback

My waffles are cooked ~6 minutes and come out looking like this. Results: (1) raising pH *really* works; (2) like everybody says, the glucose and fructose in honey are reducing sugars that can participate in the Malliard reaction just as well as the lactose in milk, unlike the table sugar used in earlier recipes; (3) even without specifically choosing an acidic ingredient, there is enough acid there for the soda to provide leavening.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Makes perfect thin waffles
It's not the most high quality product but it makes perfect thin waffles.
Waffles release easily with proper cooking
The trick is to not undercook the waffle. Don’t open the waffle maker until the waffle is fully cooked, otherwise it sticks on both sides and splits in half and is a disaster to clean up
I just use butter with mine, and it works pretty well.
I use a small splash of normal cooking oil and spread it with a brush, for the first waffle. The rest just works... But: my dough usually has quite a lot of butter or oil in it, that helps a lot with them not sticking.
I've been told that the propellants in Pam etc build up in the surface over time, ruining the non-stick quality. I brush on a SMALL amount of canola. No issues.
Makes great waffles
I have this one, and it makes great waffles.
I have this one too and really like it.
Aside from making waffles, I plan on using the waffle makers to create crispy deserts like brownies or waffle-shaped cookies.
My all-clad is just shy of 10 years old and works amazingly still to this day as it did the day I got it, my Breville is about 5 years old and my favorite feature is the custom settings for buttermilk vs. chocolate etc also the “A little bit more” button is amazing because I like my waffles darker than my family so I can pull theirs and do mine for an extra minute.
Easy to use with indicator lights
It also makes waffles pretty quickly which works when there are 6 or so waiting.
Compact and easy to clean
Compact and super easy to clean.
Easy to clean nonstick surface
easy to clean for plain waffles
Cuisinart waffle makers are well-received
I haven't had good luck at all with Oster/Sunbeam. However, I have noticed Cuisinart waffle irons for $29.99, so return the Oster and maybe get that if you want to have 3 waffle makers.
Cuisinart waffle maker is indestructible
Honestly I love Breville and All clad. But we have a cuisnart 4 waffle maker and it’s been pretty indestructible.
Amazing results with frequent use
Best small appliance purchase I’ve ever made!! Our family uses this at least 5 times a week with amazing results and easy cleanup
Makes great waffles and Belgian
Makes great waffles and Belgian.
Affordable option compared to competitors
the Cuisinart is almost 30% cheaper is very compelling.
Crispy waffles achievable
Yes, on the darkest setting.

Waffles may stick if undercooked

Design flaw with the relay causing issues
The relay on the board his very close to the base plate, if too much oil or butter is used it runs down inside and collects on the base plate and then seeps into the relay trough a small vent.
Quality concerns with Cuisinart model
my Cuisinart is iffy at best.
Incessant beeping during operation
it makes my kitchen unpleasant for the entire time.
Durability issues with Cuisinart waffle makers
My Cuisinart melted and broke its own back hinge.
Cuisinart is famous in the industry for making outstanding food processors and garbage everything else.
Poor customer service experience reported
Sorry your cust service experience was bad, that does sound obnoxious as hell.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion about preference for thinner waffles over Belgian waffles
You can do that will thinner less fluffy waffles and the crunch is more satisfying.
Inquiry about heating consistency
Do you find that the Cuisinart heats evenly on both sides or do you occasionally get uneven waffles?
Discussion on differences between flipping and non-flipping waffle makers.
There are waffle makers that allow you to pour the batter, close it up, and then rotate in order to distribute the batter evenly.
Flipping after you pour sears the crust into waffle shape and then just kind of steams the inside for maximum fluffiness.
It does
Mention of different brands and their performance
I have a Krups and it's incredibly mediocre. Must have been an off day for their design team.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion on using different fats for non-stick
Supposedly, the fat in the batter is enough to be sufficient.
Inquiry about hotel-style waffles
Basically what the title says I want to make really deep waffles like you can make at hotels that cook well and hopefully doesn’t cost me too much

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Various models of waffle makers discussed
The only thing that has gone wrong is the temperature indicator light burned out.
How's the Cuisinart?
Discussion on finding quality waffle makers
Has anyone found a good waffle maker that’s not cheap but isn’t professional grade?
Discussion about alternative brands and models
it makes damn good waffles, has a temp control setting etc.
Honestly makes the best damn waffles, easy to use and even easier to clean.
Discussion on various waffle makers
I'm leaning towards one of these two but I'm open to other suggestions.
I can't vouch for the ones you mentioned, but the [Breville Smart Waffle Pro](https://www.breville.com/us/en/products/waffle-makers/bwm640.html) has been my go-to for years.
Desire for a great waffle iron with easy cleaning
Waffle Maker I really want to get myself a great waffle iron... I want it to work well, clean easily, and not have anything that I would be concerned with material wise.
They make old fashion cast iron Waffle makers/pans. My parents still have the one they got as a gift for their wedding 45 years ago.
The moderate in me: how often do you make waffles? If it’s like monthly, I personally would just buy one that works.
If going the moderate approach, I can say I have the breville and love it.
Discussion about the effectiveness of different waffle makers
Maybe the extra mass help transfer heat better, etc.
Most makers if they cook evenly will be fine.
Sorry for the late reply. For me better just means being able to make thick waffles that stay crispy.
It can get up to 500F which is great when I want to make Mac and cheese waffles.
Discussion about preference for different brands and models
Honestly, 300-400 seems like it's grossly overpriced, and I do mean GROSSLY.
Ended up getting it for around $250 new, 48% off. Can't wait to use it!
The cleaning ease and storing standing up are more convenient than I expected. Highly recommend.
We went through a number of "cheaper" waffle makers for several years. Then, we got the All-Clad and
Recommendations for deeper waffle makers
It makes deep, crispy waffles and is reasonably priced.
Discussion about pricing on waffle makers
Cuisinart WAF-F30, $58 on Amazon.
Discussion of flipping vs non-flipping waffle makers
I have a regular Cuisinart Belgian waffle maker from crate and barrel and I love it.
Suggestion to buy used waffle makers
Unless you make waffles all the time, save some money... buy used.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion about longevity of waffle makers
My parents had a Black and Decker one for decades.
Mine is at least 20+ years old and has never failed me.
Both All-Clad and Breville make great waffle irons and they're actually known appliance brands with good customer support.
What kind of Belgian waffles don't you like? Liege? Brussels?
Discussion about quality and safety of waffle makers
The title really says it all. I don't want to buy a waffle iron that is going to smell like burnt plastic after 20 minutes.
I reached out to the company to get one of these, but they don't ship to US because their products aren't designed for American voltage.
I'm living in the waffles country, not in the US and I didn't know they only sold in Europe.
Hi, do you know if it's safe to put these plaques in a dishwasher?
Discussion about lead in old cookware
Not so fun fact: if you have an old waffle maker (or any other cookware) that predates the 1980s, it's advisable to avoid using it for food preparation as it probably contains lead which can leach into food during cooking and storage.
If you have concerns about lead in cookware they sell test kits that you can use to be certain.
Lead wouldn’t work in a waffle maker. It would melt. Lead is never in cast iron. They don’t alloy.
Why are there bullets in your cast iron
Lack of schematics and difficulty in repair
You probably won't get much help here, as schematics are most likely not available, and we have no way to know how the microcontroller is programmed.
Debate over which waffle maker to keep from gifts
Currently reading through reviews to decide which to keep and which to return, but there's been very little consensus/comparison.
Discussion about various waffle makers
erhg, annoying situation
The all-clad is good, but the little silver nubs that cover the screw holes all fell off from mine (they are glued on to an appliance that constantly gets hot - not a wise choice).
Discussion on longevity of old waffle makers
Those things will outlast Cher and Keith Richards.
Been making waffles for over 100 years and still going strong.
