Snoop's Take

Dial Antibacterial Foaming Hand Soap Refill in Spring Water is designed to effectively kill over 99.99% of bacteria found in household environments. This gentle, dermatologist-tested formula contains aloe vera and is free from harsh chemicals, making it suitable for regular use while providing a refreshing scent. Consumer feedback highlights its effectiveness in various contexts, from body odor control to acne treatment. Many users appreciate its gentleness, especially those with sensitive skin; "I feel this! My father has cancer and we're so cautious of germs in the house." However, some have raised concerns regarding potential skin irritation and the impact of fragrance on sensitive skin, underscoring the importance of individual skin types. Overall, despite some mixed reviews regarding skin reactions, the Dial Antibacterial Foaming Hand Soap Refill is generally recommended for its effectiveness and affordability, particularly for those seeking an antibacterial solution for everyday use.

Gentle on skin
I feel this! My father has cancer and we're so cautious of germs in the house.
I didn’t like how it made my skin feel *at all*.
Recommended for specific medical conditions
In your specific case, that product is useful.
Kids can use regular foaming dispenser easily
Do you have recommendations for a foaming hand soap dispenser?
My 2 and 5 year olds have been able to use any regular foaming dispenser just fine.
Effective for cleaning tattoos
Then Dial gold antibacterial is what I use on fresh tattoos.
I second Dial gold antibacterial, it's never steered me wrong.
i heard dial gold is really good might have to get some.
Effective antibacterial properties
My healing procedure: leave tattoo wrapped over night. This method has never failed me.
Effective for acne treatment
I'm confused. He also gave me epiduo and doxycyclin something like that.
Yes this is 💯 the best thing for acne!!!! Iv tried everything including Accutane and dial bar soap is the only thing that actually works!!!
I have used the Dial white since acne years. I'm 32 now and stand by it.
Recommended by dermatologists
I say, TRY IT. Don’t listen to these clowns — do what your fellowship-trained physician told you to.
Affordable option
Anyway, YES, use dial gold bar because it’s antibacpterial and that will kill acne bacteria.
it works well and is cheap, which is a priority.
Works well with oily skin
I dont and have no issues. My skin is natural pretty oily I guess tho.
Effective for oily skin
Most of this alleviates when I use the dial. But it doesn't feel healthy.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Concerns about antibacterial soap overuse
You don't want them to evolve resistance, that's why you shouldn't use antibacterial soap to wash up.
There’s absolutely no reason to need more than soap and water to clean yourself.
Can cause skin irritation
It seems like everyone everywhere recommends to use the gold dial soap, but I can’t even use that just to wash my hands after trips to the bathroom as it’ll cause my eczema to flare up.
I’ve never used or recommended the dial soap in my fourteen years of tattooing or my twenty years of getting tattooed.
Contains fragrance which may irritate sensitive skin
i have noticed dial gold antibacterial has fragrance on the ingredient list, never had an issue but if you have sensitive skin it could be something to think about.
Why is dial gold hand soap recommended if it has fragrance in the ingredients?
Dial’s own website clearly lists “parfum (fragrance)” in the ingredient list!
Fragrance may irritate sensitive skin
I have always been told soap with absolutely no fragrance in it.
Concerns about using soap on tattoos
Tattoo artist said to NOT use soap!! Because it can ruin the tattoo!!
I was dumbfounded when she said not to use soap lol
Soap is too harsh for fresh piercings
Please do not use soap, it has additives that are waaaaay to harsh for a fresh piercing.
Don’t use soap, get a can of sterile saline solution (0.9% sodium chloride and water without any additives)
Soap is quite harsh for fresh wounds and it can actually dry out your skin.
May cause skin irritation for some users
But that's because my skin is very picky.
Can dry out skin
I would think it would be quite harsh and drying.
If you have very oily skin the soap is probably contributing, it dries you out and then your skin over produces oil to compensate.
Concerns about active ingredient
Triclosan is not something you want to mess with.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion on the effectiveness of foaming soap
i don't feel clean.
IMO, foaming soap tricks lazy people in to believing they are doing it right.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Preference for non-antibacterial soap
I prefer this one because it includes interesting information about *why* soap works, why it doesn't need to be "antibacterial," and why simply washing your hands is more effective than using hand sanitizer.
Seeking non-toxic options for hand soap
Been using Dr bronners but it dries my hands out SO bad.
been using it for years and do not have an issue with dry hands.
It’s not perfect, but helps with how drying it is somewhat.
I ordered Evolved by Nature off Amazon and love it.
Discussion on safe products during pregnancy
I made the switch while we try for baby #2. My attitude hair products were nicer than what I was buying and I haven’t looked back.
Discussion on alternatives to antibacterial soap for sensitive skin
Baby unscented soap.
I swear by Cetaphil soap.
Discussion about fragrance-free recommendations for aftercare
Gold dial and aquaphor are what I’ve used every time and haven’t had any trouble as of now.
They’re talking about antibacterial soap - dial, Softsoap, etc - as long as it’s the orange one.
Discussion on soap types for acne care
I like to use Dial Gold bar on my face and body in the shower (before bed), and Noxzema at the sink (in the morning).
I will DEFINITELY try this because I am having this SEVERE dark spot break out on my back.
got it please thank you 🙏🏻
Preference for bar soap over liquid soap
Id recommend the bar soap for your body.
I like the gold one but any will do as long as it says antibacterial.
Debate on the cost-effectiveness of making soap at home vs buying
Savings and lazyness in a lovely package.
So the difference is $8 to $2.25, or less than 1 to 4.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion on soap effectiveness vs antibacterial properties
Soaps are inherently anti-microbial.
the soap kills virtually all of the batceria already.
they don't actually work better than soap for the types of germs you're describing.
Concerns about superbugs and germ resistance
antibacterial is to be avoided for everyday use, unless there are extenuating circumstances.
Discussion about soap clogging drains
the drain of my sink seems to clog very fast (I notice that from the speed or rather the slowness my water drains)
Soaps will bind to calcium and deposit, what we call “soap scum”.
Discussion on antibacterial properties and resistance
Triclosan specifically targets protein and lipid synthesis in bacteria, although it does have some antifungal properties as well.
Concerns about diluting liquid soap reducing preservative effectiveness
You basically end up with something that bacteria would find quite hospitable.
every time you dilute it, you thin out preservatives, and make it much easier for bacteria to thrive inside that bottle of soap.
Thank you dr sex machine, Reddit soap hero.
Am I just fucking stupid, or does it seem a bit absurd that people would market a soap that becomes 'something that bacteria would find quite hospitable' when it's mixed with water?
