Snoop's Take

Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Anti-Colic Options+ Wide-Neck Baby Bottle Newborn Feeding Set is designed to make feeding easier for both babies and parents. Featuring an anti-colic internal vent system, this bottle helps reduce colic symptoms and allows babies to feed at their own pace, mimicking the breastfeeding experience. Consumer sentiment around this product is largely positive, with many parents noting its effectiveness: "I can’t recommend another bottle because we tried probably 5 and Dr. Brown's was the clear winner." Additionally, users appreciate the ease of cleaning the wide-neck design and the fact that the Options+ bottles can be used without the vent system, which simplifies the feeding process. However, some have expressed frustrations regarding the complexity of assembly and occasional leaking issues when not used correctly. Overall, the Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Anti-Colic Options+ baby bottles are highly recommended for parents looking for a reliable feeding solution for their newborns, particularly for those dealing with colic and gas issues.

Our baby will literally only take the Dr. Brown bottles and we've tried allllllll the alternatives.

Positive Feedback

Until I found Avent. The nipples have a built in air vent for colic and the shape resemble much like a real nipple so it’s very ergonomic.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Effective for some babies
Our baby will literally only take the Dr. Brown bottles and we've tried allllllll the alternatives.
The only time I had issues with them leaking is if I put the cover on too tight.
I can’t recommend another bottle because we tried probably 5 and dr browns was the clear winner.
Most of them were bottles that weren’t recommended or actively discouraged by lactation consultants.
Options+ can be used without extra parts
I like Dr Brown Options+ specifically because they can be used without the extra parts.
Wide neck bottles are easier to clean
So... I like wideneck better because my dishwasher definitely cleans them better when I'm too lazy to handwash.
Loved these bottles. I also had major leaking issues with Dr Browns.
I hated dr brown and went to avent with both of my kids.
Effective for gassy/spitty babies
They are vents to prevent gas/air bubbles from getting into the nipple to keep your baby from ingesting a bunch of air.
Less parts to clean compared to other bottles
Works well, and less parts to clean!
Glass bottles heat up quickly
Dr. Browns glass bottles Switching from plastic Dr. Browns to glass! Those who also use them- how do you like them?
We like them. We use a mix. The glass heats up so much faster so we turn the warmer way down.
Silicone sleeves protect glass bottles
The sleeves can withstand getting chucked from the crib.
Overall satisfaction with glass bottles
The main pro for me is that I can put them in the dishwasher to clean and sanitize them without worrying about plastic leaching.
I love the glass bottles. High quality glass
Consistent flow rate helps transition from breastfeeding
Phillips Avent Natural! Never had issues with gas and he goes from these bottles to boob no problem
No leaks when used correctly
They didn't know what to do with the insert (despite being shown several times!) so they just left it out and complained about how crappy these doctor browns bottles are.
No leaks when assembled correctly
So it leaks when the vent fills up with liquid
We use the Dr Browns. They leak when the collar isn’t put on tight.
Effective for some users
No experience with Dr. Browns wide neck - only the regular anti colic which we love!!
Dishwasher safe with no warping issues
all their products are dishwasher safe, but I'm still wary of the potential issues that I mentioned, so I would love to hear people's experiences with this.
Use dr. brown's (glass and plastic) in a munchkin basket. High heat, daily washing (and then some) with high heat dry. No issues with warpage or anything that you've mentioned.
I wash our bottles in the dishwasher every single night. I have zero extra time to hand-wash bottles 😛
We wash our Dr. Brown's bottles in the dishwasher with no issues. Our LO is 11 months so she doesn't

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Too many parts and complicated to clean
Until I found Avent. The nipples have a built in air vent for colic and the shape resemble much like a real nipple so it’s very ergonomic.
Over-designed, too many parts, assembly is a nightmare when your newborn is screeching in your ear at 5am.
Dr browns bottles SUCK
Philips Avent Natural Response all the way!!
Did not help with colic for some babies
The best bottles are the ones that your baby take a liking to.
I have about 12 Dr Browns bottles that mostly go to waste.
Nipples did not work for some users
We bought a whole set and LITERALLY none of the nipples work, AT ALL.
Second this, love those bottles!
Bottles leak for some users
I have tried multiple different ways to keep them from leaking and nothing works.
Switching from Dr. Brown wide mouth bottles to Phillips AVENT Natural bottles! I need advice!🙏🏼
my son is comfortably on level 2 nipples with Dr. Brown’s but is struggling a bit with the level 3 Phillips Avent Natural Response nipples and is acting like they are too slow.
Bottles leak when baby drinks milk
They leaked when baby was drinking milk, not while pumping.
Glass bottles are heavy and large
It's nice that they're glass but the 8oz (or maybe it's 9?) are soooo big and they're absurdly heavy.
Some babies dislike the bottles
Kiddo liked the Avent bottles the best, he really disliked Dr. Brown’s which was a shame because we were gifted some nice ones lol.
I hate them. I’m a total Comotomo stan.
Complicated assembly with too many parts
Their fancy patented vent tube is just a hole that leaks through the collar and all over baby's face, neck, hair, clothes, mom/dad.
Parts can be mismatched and complicated
No leaks, no miss matched parts no tiny bottle brush needed.
Frequent leaking issues reported
I had no problem with leaking by making sure the lid was on tight/sealed and not filling the bottle above the fill line.
They do leak if you don’t tighten them correctly.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Narrow bottles are compatible with many nipple brands
Narrow bottles are compatible with many nipple brands including Medela.
Perceived scheme with nipple and bottle size pairing
it's gotta be a scheme to make more money because if you're buying the bigger bottles, chances are you need a bigger nipple.
Preference for narrow neck nipples
We’re still using them w my 2 yo, cos he drinks less milk if we don’t.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Users share tips for preventing leaks
The secret to not having your dr browns bottles leak is to make sure the screwed on nipple lid is loose when you put them in the warmer.
I really only have leaking issues if the nipple isn't screwed on tight enough or I fall asleep with a bottle in my hand and it all Leake out the nipple lol.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Assembly becomes routine over time
all the parts 😩) but the bottle boxes from target/Amazon were so helpful!
Transitioning to daycare with prepared bottles
How do we transition this to daycare? How do i bring the whole pitcher (dr brown) to daycare without spilling?
we send the prepared formula to daycare in a small cooler with an ice block to keep it cold the whole day.
Preference for glass bottles over plastic
Dr. Brown has glass bottles!
I used Dr. Browns glass bottles. We love them! I have a hard time imagining any plastic bottle not leeching plastic, honestly.
Availability of large bottles with level 2 nipples confirmed
We have large bottles with the level 2 nipples from dr browns
User assembly experiences vary
I use Dr. Brown's, and the only thing that leaks is the baby.
Preference for different bottle brands
we use the MAM wide-neck anti colic bottles and love them.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Preference varies greatly among babies
My baby only takes Mam. We tried everything from tommee tippee to Nuk to nano bebe and she only takes Mam.
I really like the Avent bottles, and Dr Brown, currently trying for a baby and I just can’t decide so just curious which bottles you and your LO’s liked or that worked best for them?
Mine had Dr brown bottle.
Effectiveness of wide neck bottles compared to breast lacks research
People often say wide neck bottles are more similar to the breast but there isn't much research behind how effective that is.
Varying experiences with different bottle brands and nipple flows
The nipple flow may be too slow, Philips Avent nipples don't flow on their own, the baby has to actively suck to get milk
Yeah I'm not a fan of those bottles for that reason. I'll ask her if she can try a faster nipple level
Preference varies when switching nipple brands
We switched from Dr Brown to Avent recently and holy heck it was a game changer.
Probably a 2 or even 3. We bought both and ended up on the 3 pretty quickly.
I am using a 3 for Philips and a 2 for my Dr Brown bottle for my 10wk old.
User experience varies significantly based on handling
Without the inserts it will leak everywhere, no doubt!
