Snoop's Take

The EVEREADY LED Headlamps Pro200 [5-Pack] is designed to provide reliable and bright illumination for various activities such as camping, hiking, and emergency situations. Each headlamp is water-resistant and operates on AAA batteries, making them both durable and convenient for outdoor enthusiasts. Consumer sentiment around these headlamps is generally positive, with many users appreciating their value for money, especially since they come as a 5-pack with batteries included. One user noted, "That’s a good deal for batteries included, those batteries are ideal for long term storage and cold/hot ambient temperatures." While some users expressed concerns about the brightness and runtime for more demanding tasks, others found them adequate for basic use, stating, "They work." Overall, the EVEREADY LED Headlamps Pro200 is recommended for casual users who need affordable and durable lighting solutions. However, those seeking top-tier performance may want to explore other options that offer higher lumens and longer runtimes.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Red light default is beneficial for hunting
this energizer headlamp defaults to red first no matter what.
Good value for money with multiple models available
Second this they have lots of models to choose from. I just picked up a 2 pack for 11bucks.
Headlamp recommendations I'm looking to get myself a rechargeable and battery-operated headlamp but to be frank I haven't the slightest idea of where to look or what to look for so what brands or models would you all recommend?
What will you be using them for? That really will drive the answer to your question.
What is a best headlamp?
Good deal for batteries included
That’s a good deal for batteries included, those batteries are ideal for long term storage and cold/hot ambient temperatures.
Durability of Energizer headlamps
My crappy energizer that my kids use has outlasted by years my Skilhunt (clip broke in less than 6mo of use).
Company pays for batteries. No reason to get expensive rechargeable ones.
Water resistant, adjustable brightness, long battery life, night sight (red light) mode, small/lightweight.
On REI, the Tikka is listed at 80 lumens for $30. On Amazon, the Tikka 2 is also $30, but it says only 40 lumens - seems suspicious.
Good value for multiple headlamps
I just want to know what you all use for a good head lamp that can be on for the whole day.
Energizer 3 packs from Walmart for $20 because bands stretch out or they get lost so it’s nice to have a spare in the truck.
If you can fork over $50-60, you can get the Zebralight H52. It's a fantastic little headlamp that weighs about the same as those Tikka's or a little less, but uses a single AA or rechargeable nimh AA or rechargeable lithium ion 14500, and output is many times higher.
headlamp : petzel w/ Rechargable Battery I was looking for a cheap light with a rechargeable battery.
Preference for battery-powered over rechargeable
Having a long battery life is great and all but for me that means forgetting to charge it before I really need it.
Headlamps work adequately for basic use
Energizer head lamps Has anyone here ever tried those energizer head lamps they sell at Walmart, Lowes, HD, etc? What’s the quality of them?
They work.
Convenient power button placement
Most people I climbed/skied/camped with got 2-4 years out of them.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Inadequate brightness and runtime for emergency use
The lumens and runtime will be unimpressive
It kinda depend on what you mean by the "best" headlamp...best in price? best in features/functions?
Negative perception of Energizer headlamps
Sorry...You lost me at energizer headlamp.
Don't buy an energizer headlamp. There are much better options.
The battery compartment BARELY latches into place and often comes apart just sitting in my backpack.
Quality perception is low
My petzel headlamp cracked through the plastic of the body.
Battery maintenance needed when not in use
Key is don't leave the batteries in the lamp when not in use.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion about preference for simpler headlamp features
I want a dead-simple headlamp, preferably with just an on/off switch.
Even Energizer headlamps have that.
I just need a light with ~200 lumens for close-up work lasting no more than an hour at a time.
Personally I am on the fence.
General preference for headlamps over flashlights
headlamp for sure, you can always hold it in your hand if you want.
Consideration of brightness differences in headlamps
Other than the usual lights function the 550 lumens has an added green light, that’s about all!
Discussion on lumen and battery life claims
Most flashlight manufacturers advertise the battery life for how long the light produces any output, not how long it remains at a useful output.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Preference for lithium batteries over AA
I wouldn’t worry about the AA battery thing too much.
If OP is building a kit that wouldn't have batteries checked/charged for years, lithium primary cells are the way to go.
Discussion on battery discharge rates
I don't know about those discharge rates, it doesn't match my experience.
Eneloop batteries and other "Low self discharge" nimh cells are much better, more like 5% per month.
Debate on battery types for headlamps
Honestly, the best bet is to find something that can run off of both.
Comparison with higher-end brands like Black Diamond
I know people have had really good experiences with BD headlamps in general, but I'm unsure on how significant or worthwhile an upgrade this would actually be.
Black Diamond are barely better than Energizer.
Discussion on preference for battery types
Comes with a headlamp strap, and lasts for weeks.
Discussion on alternatives to Energizer headlamps
there's so much better quality stuff out there for the same price or even 5 more dollars.
it would likely be an okay light, its just as feature dense or as high in value for money as some of the other recommended lights.
The downside is it uses a cool white led and it only has a IPX4 water rating.
What's your price range? The DW4 is a pretty premium headlamp.
Comparison with higher-end brands like Petzl
You can always use regular headlamps with rechargeable NiMH batteries.
Discussion on preference for rechargeable batteries
but does the energizer have a lithium batter?

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion favoring alternatives to Energizer headlamps
I advise you to get the Sofirn SP40 instead of either of the Energizer lights
As a fellow SP40 enjoyer, I second this opinion. It is to versatile and bright! Right angle lights are awesome. I often clip it to my vest and it turns into a chest light.
