What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Bright and long-lasting light
This light is very bright and lasts me a long time.
I am trying to find a bulletproof Led headlamp that is USB-C rechargeable, has a red night light and that remembers what color was on when I turned it off and goes back to that color.
I’ve had it for at least 6 years and it’s still my go to. It’s seen loads of blue water sailing, been dunked in bilges, dropped on every surface you can think of and still keeps trucking.
I generally run it on the wide output unless I need the spotlight, and in spotlight mode I typically run at about 60% power just because the light is so bright.
Lightweight and comfortable design
I’ve been having really good luck with those super cheap 2/$20 rechargeable headlamps over the last few years and am having a hard time rationalizing spending $75 on the Storm.
Versatile for multiple activities
I don’t know what other sort of features or options they could have other than a red light.

Did you buy the headlamp that has a daylight sensor built in that will shut the headlamp off automatically in 3 minutes?
Let it charge overnight and itll work fine.
The light kept shutting off when I was trying to carry a $$$$$ telescope without tripping, and the light would shut off after a few seconds, when I needed it the most AT NIGHT! then I would have to sit the scope down in the wet grass or gravel, to free a hand up to turn it back on, only to have it go off again before even taking one step...Im fucking pissed, I will never buy a Energizer headlamp again until they get rid of that stupid feature.
Quality complaints about headlamp
These headlamps are absolute shit. Klein has fallen off.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Preference for lightweight headlamps
Thanks! The ones I’ve been using are definitely not light weight, and if I was backpacking a long way, I’m certain I’d much prefer a lighter one.
Discussion about red light mode for night vision preservation
Has a mode with a red light - VERY important as usually we sail with no lights to preserve night vision.

Discussion about preferences for waist lights over headlamps
Dark in the mornings now.
I do less leaning while running vs a headlamp only.
Ultraspire 400z waist light works great for me. Waist lights are better than head lamps IMO.
Petzl is amazing. Automatically adjusts brightness and has lasted easily through the night.
Discussion about preferences for chest lamps over headlamps
Lightweight headlamp that can withstand sweat for 2hrs
here’s a chest lamp that I use and it lasts hours and is very bright
Easily the best light I've ever used
The light is super bright and the vest is actually very very comfortable

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion about other headlamp brands
Looking at how many lumens each is and the battery power.
RTFM I guess?
Look at the fenix brands they make good head lamps.
Solid structure and materials. Easy to recommend.
Discussion about reliability of other brands
Reliable, rechargeable, long battery life, good brightness, and a spare fully charged battery doesn’t add much weight.
For an extremely bright light, there are some pretty crazy options, but in terms of packability, simplicity, use with gloves, and bomb proof durability I give an 18650-based Zebralight my vote.
Petzl Actik works great for me. Not perfection, but definitely good enough.
They eat batteries. The 21700 Flashlight stopped working on high mode and their warranty really sucks.
