I absolutely loved getting to play with bans, but felt like plat was the most miserable being just one rank away from getting bans.

That sling is a composite construction of dyneema and nylon. It has some of the best properties of both including a very high static strength and decent abrasion resistance.
That looks like a dyneema/spectra sling for climbing. Very strong material.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion about climbing gear testing and strength ratings
Great videos if you use any of that kind of gear.
it's not meant to be loaded full time, but rather it's supposed to take occasional dynamic loads of up to 6000 pounds and static loads of around 200-300 pounds.
I still watch these videos. It's really interesting to see how the gear fails and exactly how crazy strong it is.
Discussion about rope diameter measurement standards
the Sterling rope just felt infinitely better--it handled way more smoothly, and it actually felt thinner than the kinky Mammut rope.
There is no standard for measuring rope diamaters. Some companies measure rope diameter with the rope weighted, others without.
Preference for dual color/design ropes
I find it very nice to have the dual color/design rope.
Climber's experience with different rope thicknesses
I trust my life to it, which is probably the most important thing.
Impact of sheath weave on rope handling
often a course (big) weave on the sheath will result in a supple-er handling but increase how much metal is removed from whatever devices you're running the rope through.

Advice on rope lengths for climbing gyms
Great advice. One thing I would revise--check with your gym on the rope length you'll need.
'Alpine, carry two thin 70m ropes and you get 140m of total length to rappel with. Don't even think of considering this in a first rope purchase.'
Discussion on the quality and pricing of climbing ropes
I love my [eternity classic]. I got it for around USD110 for 60m on sale.
Definitely worth a bit more money for a rope you know will be super high quality and save your life!

Cautionary Callouts

Oh thanks for the heads up on that. That's exactly what I was looking for :D
Discussion about climbing gear and community engagement
Let's talk about buying your first rope- a buying guide.
Discussion on the reliability of lesser-known climbing brands
Thoughts on Amazon Budget gear? Just curious to hear your thoughts on all of the not name brand gear available on amazon.
Don't do it.
Climbing Technology is a legit brand.
It's a newer brand but they do pretty much everything and it's becoming really popular especially for bolting crags.
Discussion about strength loss of nylon when wet
the nylon ropes lose about 10% of strength after fully submerged into the water for longer periods of time.
