Finally! Cardio that is low impact, something I can do inside when the weather sucks, doesn't require a pricey machine that takes up a lot of space, and is actually interesting to do.

Positive Feedback

Feel like I don’t have a base conditioning level that would even allow me to have a good program around battle ropes.

Finally! Cardio that is low impact, something I can do inside when the weather sucks, doesn't require a pricey machine that takes up a lot of space, and is actually interesting to do.
I haven’t been able to use them much :/ they are such a good workout that I’ve considered in-home use (I’d buy my own).
Giving battle ropes a try. Anyone else incorporate these along with any suggested routines?
I have an interval timer on my phone. I bought a battle rope poster from Amazon for inspiration on movements too.
Adaptable for different fitness levels
Just keep at it and your endurance will improve.
Yes. Was thinking of doing a Tabata workout tonight using them.
Effective for grip strength and endurance
they seem like a way of simulating the kind of of cardio in a match while also working grip strength.
Especially if you’re a trainer and your client can’t do low body stuff.
Good for conditioning and muscle endurance
20 seconds at RPE 10, every two minutes for 7-10 rounds. It’s a lot harder than it sounds.
Effective for weight loss
Battle Ropes Helped me from 130kg to 97kg
Improves strength and balance
I like how they help with strength and balance too.
they really do a great job of increasing your functional power and stamina, that's for sure.
Drains energy effectively in workouts
It really drains me so I don't do them every day I go to the gym and sometimes if I'm feeling really low energy I skip them all together.
30' rope is suitable for a good workout
the 30' section is not ideal, but still long enough for a good workout.
Shorter ropes allow for faster and longer intervals
It’s not a super heavy workout but adds variety.
Good for grip training
Looks badass & a good way to build functional strength.
Battle ropes and weight sleds are awesome.
Effective for conditioning workouts
Tons and tons of videos of different drills and techniques, which is more than enough for me to piece together a solid workout.
If you actually exert max effort, you should feel like puking after one tabata cycle.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Can be challenging for beginners
Feel like I don’t have a base conditioning level that would even allow me to have a good program around battle ropes.
Challenging for strength training goals
If you want strength, you need to be doing things that take strength and not things that just make you tired.
Challenging for those with shoulder issues
they are rather heavy for the shoulder (not surprising at all)

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Battle ropes are a good exercise tool for conditioning.
I am not sure.
It's a fad but it's also a good exercise.
They are an alternative to regular cardio movements, so if you enjoy it enough to keep consistent you can make them work for you.
Battle ropes.... just go hard... 45 seconds, rest for 45.. Do as much as you can, and get your heart rate to around 100-115.
Battle ropes require endurance and technique.
I’ve been doing F45 for almost a year now and I’m loving it! But I find the battle ropes nearly impossible to handle!!
stay in a low squatted position and then if you're slamming both ropes at once use your whole body to slam both ropes by raising your arms as you raise up from your squat and lowering them to slam both ropes into the ground as you're lowering back into the squat.
Move further back to reduce the slack.
When I slowed down and took my time, I was able to last the whole set.
Tips for better technique and performance
Give those ropes PLENTY of slack, and enjoy the suck that is battle ropes.
Considerations for HIIT workouts with battle ropes
Mainly looking for hiit.
Variability in battle rope prices across brands
Prices from different companies seem to vary from $50 to around $170, which is frustrating.
Discussion on proper technique for using battle ropes
The goal of rope training is to teach proper transfer of force from the core to the arms, improve standing angular force and stability
It's more a question of ensuring that the rope is large/heavy enough that you need to recruit the core, hip, and leg musculature to move/control it.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Concerns about weather affecting outdoor workouts
Great to hear! I mainly got it, because my garage gym is going to be cold this winter.
Questioning the relevance of simulating battle ropes in a fitness game
this just seems redundant.
