Snoop's Take

The MSR Ultralight Utility Cord Kit is designed for outdoor enthusiasts, providing a versatile solution for various camping needs. This 10-meter cord features a Dyneema core and boasts a high tensile strength of 200 lbs, making it suitable for tasks like guying out tarps or hanging bear bags. Consumer feedback highlights its strengths, with many users noting its versatility, stating that "it can be used in so many situations," while also appreciating its affordability: "it is a fairly strong cord that is easy to work with." However, some users caution that it may not be the best choice for primary cordage, with comments suggesting that most retail paracord options tend to be of lower quality. Overall, while the MSR Ultralight Utility Cord Kit is a strong and effective option for many situations, users should consider their specific needs and preferences before purchasing. It is recommended for casual camping and utility applications, especially for those prioritizing weight and cost.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Various recommended cord lengths for different setups
I would think that 300' of cord is overkill to outfit one hammock by a large portion.
For my Mountainfly, I went with two 12' lines off the ridgeline peaks and eight 6' lines off the corner and beak D rings (72' total guyline).
I don’t think hardware is really necessary for the side guy lines. Just tie a taut line hitch.
One thing I neglected to mention is that I also recommend carrying a few spare lengths of cord in case you lose or break one.
Hammock camping setup requires lightweight materials
I feel like a bug net can't get much lighter and that design has worked great for us for about 3 years now.
Wow lots of info here and super helpful! Hammock camping is REALLY fun but it was hard to find a UL
Discussion of alternative materials for hammock setups
I've got a hammock made of this and it's my go-to now.
Preference for lighter cord options over standard paracord
Paracord is no good. Heavy and stretchy.
I don't find too much practical difference between brands.

wondering if anyone’s used this model and if it’s any good
Mention of DIY solutions for lighter setups
Amazing work and I'm borrowing your bugnet/stuff sack design once I find the time to get the material and make it.
Interest in modifying existing designs for better functionality
so we modified his design a little :)
Very cool.

I am ‘pro-knot’, so no hardware in my opinion.
