Snoop's Take

The NBJU Bark Collar for Dogs is a rechargeable training collar designed to help curb excessive barking in dogs of all sizes. This collar features three working modes—beep, vibration, and shock—along with seven adjustable sensitivity levels to cater to different dog temperaments. Consumer feedback indicates that while the collar is designed with various modes, some users have expressed challenges with the vibration mode, stating, "Dog doesn’t even react to the vibrate on the ecollar at all?" Many suggest that introducing a shock correction before using the vibration mode may enhance its effectiveness, highlighting that the vibration isn't particularly useful for everyday training. Despite some criticisms regarding the vibration feature, the NBJU Bark Collar is still recommended for its humane approach and versatility in training methods. Its thoughtful design and safety features make it a solid choice for dog owners looking to manage barking behavior effectively.

Vibration mode may require prior shock conditioning to be effective
Dog doesn’t even react to the vibrate on the ecollar at all?
So I introduced the shock as a correction, and now I use the vibration as a warning before the shock.
The vibration isn't really a useful tool for your every day dog.
I wouldn’t use a vibe before a correction.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Aesthetic and Style of Spiked Collars
Great, now my chihuahua can look like he's going to a Judas Priest concert.
I was not expecting them to look so camp 🤣
I always assumed spikes collars for dogs where just an adaptation of punk or biker styling into a dogs collar, purely for fashion.
Modern Multi-Stage Warning Systems in E-Collars
The idea is, after a few times of getting a light shock, then the beep and vibrate warnings are enough to stop the barking.
I agree with all of that except that it does actually work.
Anecdotes on protective benefits and humorous encounters with spiked collars
Fucking amazing.
I like to think he thought 'Oh shit, you're pretty fucking big, nevermind.'
It not only helped him survive but helped quicken his rescue.
Welp, I guess I'm an indoor dog now.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Spiked Collars for Predator Protection
They make lttle „blankets” for smaller dogs with the spikes to deter coyote rgabs as well.
From what I can tell, they have to be used for deterring pitbulls more often than coyotes.
They’re called coyote vests and they’re awesome!
I don't think that collar is aggressive enough to make any difference tbh.
Non-Canine Uses for Bark Collar Technology
I need a no-shock bark collar for me, a human I have night terrors and scream in my sleep.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Effectiveness affected by dog’s fur thickness and collar fit
the shock did work because my uncle tried it on his arm at 10.
He would look around for a half second, then continued fucking off.
The thick fur on some dogs makes them not able to feel it as well.
If they don't react at all it's not making contact.
Preference for non‐shock modes for effective training
I just got one that is only vibrate and it works really well for my stubborn coonhound mix that sometimes just barks at the air for like 15 minutes.
Is there not an option for a collar that only beeps or vibrates? No shock, just an audio cue or something like that to get their attention.
I found that annoying my dog with the beeping was way more effective than the vibe/shock.
90% of the time, the little beep warning is enough for her to listen.
Proper e-collar fit and contact is crucial for long-haired breeds
The e-collar strap should be quite tight, I usually recommend tight enough so that you can just barely squeeze two fingers in between the strap and your dog's neck.
No electrical contact, no worky. Resistance is not your friend.
the collar has to be pretty tight/secure to their neck, especially with the winged contacts.
Age considerations: 5 months may be too young for effective e-collar training
5 months is too young for most dogs especially for what you want to use it for.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Shock collars cause pain and distress
It’s just cruel.
The pain makes him scream which triggers the collar again.
The collar definitely hurts at that level.
Some dogs just panic when they feel that shock.
Government regulation and societal debate on electric collars
the owner is not even aware that they are abusive.
using a beeping collar is no different than clicker training and can be a great tool for teaching recall.
Concerns over negative reinforcement and alternative training methods
This isn’t necessary at all.
You're describing punishment I think.
Hair Interference Affecting Collar Performance
There have been multiple times where I didnt part her hair, and all of a sudden the collar shifted and she yelped since the stim was too high.
Hair was definitely an issue at one point but now we just make sure it’s all put to the side before we put the collar on.
Prong collars can be effective alternatives for controlling strong or aggressive dogs
the trainer whispered to me that I should try a prong collar, but it was against policy at the training center so she couldn't help me with it.
I had already been doing positive only for 6 months and decided it was time to try a different approach.
Prong collars are undeniably one of the best ways to create a mechanical advantage over a dog that is too big for you.
Worked absolute wonders with our dog and now we never really have to use it.
Dogs may manipulate or adjust their collars to relieve itch or discomfort
What if the dog wants to scratch his neck?
Probably lay on their side and scoot around to roll the collar.
The dog will find a way to scratch. They always do.
Get one of those mini wire brushes it worked wonders.
