Snoop's Take

The Ninja BN701 Professional Plus Blender is a high-powered kitchen appliance designed to effortlessly blend smoothies, frozen drinks, and even ice cream with its 1400 peak watts and Auto-iQ technology. It features a 72-oz Total Crushing Pitcher, making it ideal for large batches without compromising on performance. Consumers have been divided on this blender: while many praise its affordability and durability with one user stating, "my ninja has lasted for 6 years and still works like new," others take a sardonic tone about its design, calling it a "PAIN IN THE ASS to clean." Feedback ranges from high praise for its powerful motor and versatile preset programs to sharp criticism regarding blade design and assembly issues. The debate is as spirited as it is informative, mixing genuine endorsements with humorous gripes about inherent design flaws. Overall, despite its quirks—especially in cleaning and assembly—the Ninja BN701 holds its ground in the competitive blender market. For budget-minded buyers who appreciate a blend of performance and versatility (albeit with a few design compromises), this product is recommended with caution.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Affordable and reliable performance
Powerful, easy to clean and very reliable.
I do just fine with a cheap Ninja.
Affordable reliable and gets the job done.
it’s living up to its price and expectations and then some.
Easy cleaning process
It is very easy for me to clean my ninja blender.
Easy peasy.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Poor blending performance
Ninja was super loud, a pain in the ass to clean, and didn't blend that well.
It's smoother, creamier, breaks down all the seeds in fruit plus chia seeds and leaves nothing behind.
The vitamix destroys everything though.
I hate the shape of the blades and how it never fully breaks down seeds in my smoothies.
Difficult to clean due to design
Ninja blenders are a PAIN IN THE ASS to clean.
Same, I always thought this was the standard accepted way to wash a blender.
Am I the only one that like.. pulls the seals off once and awhile and cleans underneath them?
It really doesn't blend all that well and that tower blade system they have is a pain in the ass to clean.
Poor durability and build quality
Broke my ninja pro two months in...it kills the ninja in pretty much every way.
Ninja died 6 months ago after 5 years of light to medium use.
Weak pitcher durability
The pitcher is gonna give out. When it does the base is going on Craigslist for cheap.
Insecure cup/base installation
I have to hold it on the base for it to blend, it won't click in place.
quite frankly i got this blender at goodwill too so it might be a little messed up
Bro literally just turn it more, that light happens when the cup isnt secure.
The unit isn't installed properly.
Cracking due to overtightening in bottle cap
You may have a micro Crack in your blender bottle cap where the blades are or along the outer edge.
Got a new blade set (about 20 bucks online) and now working like a charm.
I'm sure I'm doing the same thing so that one side gets really tight and the other side gets loose.
I basically cranked it so hard it got a twist crack in it.
Sharp blades risk injury during cleaning
Blades can cut you when cleaning.
Dishwasher cleaning leads to gunk buildup due to design gap
Ninja blender accumulates gunk from the dishwasher through a tiny gap with no easy way out.
Why are you putting your blender in the dishwasher?
It specifically says it's dishwasher safe. However I only hand wash mine for the same problem as OP.
Poor blending performance with frozen fruit and leafy greens
Filling it up to the 'min liquid' line usually results in a thin smoothie.
No kale or spinach or it will stop the blade in my experience.
Requires constant power connection to operate
It's crap. I have to keep it plugged in for it to work.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
General blending tips and usage advice
Would love to have some nutritions smoothies.
But I like mine hurt-your-teeth cold.
A better blender makes a better consistency than adding ice to a worse blender in my experience.
Frozen fruit works great.
Differences between immersion and regular blenders
I swear I could throw my car in there and it would grind it up.
An immersion blender is super handy, but it will never crush ice, blend and cook a perfectly smooth soup or get you completely smooth smoothie.
Immersion blenders are really more of a convenience tool.
Alternative smoothie preparation methods suggested
Why not just buy a couple blender bottles and make your smoothies and take them with.
Mainly because I wanted it for vacations and also as a backup if my countertop one dies.

Cautionary Callouts

Troubleshooting tips for blinking red light
I'd start by unplugging it, waiting a few minutes and plugging it back in to see if it fixed itself.
Maybe you made the cup too full?
Discussion on immersion and stick blender alternatives
I don't necessarily view these as a buy it for life sort of appliance.
I actually use the attachments that come with it quite a bit, too!
Love the wish too.
Damn i use that small processor bowl way more than anything else.
Retailer model differences and durability concerns
In most homewares cases I've seen (blenders, vacuums, etc.), the Costco-specific model of something generally has an identical base product, but comes with extra accessories as part of the bundle.
You get what you pay for.
Small appliances from either Target or Walmart are notorious for breaking in about a year or less.
If you are really going to put something through its paces, it's worth it to get it someplace else.
