Snoop's Take

The Peugeot - Paris u'Select Manual Pepper Mill is a finely engineered pepper grinder that promises a precise two-stage grind with six adjustable settings. Crafted in France with a blend of beechwood and stainless steel, it’s designed to enhance the flavor of your culinary creations with a touch of French elegance. Consumer sentiment ranges from enthusiastic praise for its durability and design to pointed critiques about its cumbersome refill mechanism and inconsistent grind settings. One user remarked, “I expect to have for the rest of my life,” while others bemoan issues like leaking and the constant need for readjustment. The debate is spirited, with loyal enthusiasts clinging to its classic charm even as detractors highlight its ergonomic shortcomings. Overall, the pepper mill earns a recommendation for those valuing timeless design and robust build quality, provided you can tolerate a few usability quirks. Experts say it’s a solid choice for the discerning chef with an eye for style, despite its occasional practical misfires.

They are a pleasure to use each time I use them and I think fondly of the gift giver like every time I season my food.

Positive Feedback

First they are huge and cumbersome they fall over constantly, they hold almost no product so you are refilling them maybe every few days which is next to impossible to do.

Excellent durability and satisfying performance
They are a pleasure to use each time I use them and I think fondly of the gift giver like every time I season my food.
I've had a smaller model for about 10 years, use it any time pepper is needed, and refill it ... every other week or so?
I have an orange cast iron Peugeot pepper mill that will surely last the rest of my life and then some.
I personally think it's one of my better investments in the kitchen.
Responsive customer service and support for older products
Peugeot replaced this piece that looked ugly and worn for free.
Great to hear they are still supporting older products.
Solid build quality with quality materials and non‑plastic components
I decided to get a peugeot pepper mill even though they have some plastic part at the top there is no plastic in the actual grinding mechanism.
Good call, I have the peugeot and I love it.
This baby is SOLID. Every grind feels industrial strength but also elegant.
So much better than those plastic grinders you get with the spices in the supermarket.
Long-lasting durability and reliable performance
I expect to have for the rest of my life. My parents have had the same Peugeot mills for over 30 years and they still grind both pepper and salt just fine.
I've used them almost daily for about 6 years. They are fine, same as the first day.
We have Peugeot and they are fantastic.
They’re supposed to be a buy it for life house item.
Aesthetically pleasing design
I bought them bc they match my LC; I anticipate having to replace them at some point b/c I KNEW I was just buying them for the looks.

Unwieldy design with inconvenient refilling and leakage
First they are huge and cumbersome they fall over constantly, they hold almost no product so you are refilling them maybe every few days which is next to impossible to do.
I wonder why we ever bothered. Now we use our salt box and soon the grinder will go away.
Can you recommend a grinder that doesn't leak any below so that you can have it standing somewhere without making everything dirty?
Durability issues and performance degradation over time

I’m on my third warranties replacement.
Once you get a new one, the difference is like night and day.
they certainly aren‘t BIFL.
Inconsistent grind adjustment requiring frequent readjustment
i got fed up with constantly readjusting the coarseness setting on the Peugeot, which constantly changes as you use them.
Underwhelming overall performance despite the hype
I honestly don’t rate it that highly.
Select-a-grind ring durability issues
I like them conceptually, but just didn't have a good experience with them personally.
I've had multiple issues with mine and the company hasn't been much help.
hard not to think yet another quality brand is being hollowed out and running on reputation for short term profits.
the more old fashioned ones where you adjust with the nut on top are durable.
Adjustment collar durability issues
The wooden adjustment collar thing at the bottom broke after just a couple months of minimal use.
Inconvenient refilling design causing spillage
My wife is still giving me shit 2 years after I knocked over the peppercorn storage when trying to fill our grinder.
Loose top adjustment nut requires constant manual readjustment
the top adjustment nut is always loosening.
you use it to adjust the coarseness of the grind.
Every other grinder I have used the nut just stays in place.
That's exactly how mine works.
