Handheld steamer is quick and easy to use
As a normal person, I much prefer the handheld steamer because it’s quick and easy to put together, swipes swipe Bam Bam and you’re done and it uses regular water.
I'll send mine back and will forget about the idea of steamers. As most comments pointed out - an iron is what we have to use.
Durable, lasting around 10 years
These typically have lasted her ~10 years.
Steamers are more versatile and gentle on fabrics
Steamers are indeed more versatile and gentle on most fabrics compared to traditional irons.
They are 100% better than ironing. You can do it faster, there's less risk of damage to clothes and it looks better, especially for more delicate fabrics or fabrics designed to drape.
Steamers are faster and easier to use
100% steamer over iron, for me.
Durability of older Rowenta models
The ones that last forever are the old ones, and I'd say the ones without steam.
Long-lasting Rowenta Steam Force model
I have a Rowenta Steam Force that's been my go to iron for almost a decade.
Excellent performance and longevity
These are really excellent irons and you can’t go wrong with them.
I iron a shirt before work every weekday, same iron still doing the work.
Good for pleated fabrics
good for pleated stuff
Steamer has longevity and reliability
This Rowenta has now lasted me 8 years of daily use.
Happy to hear it has some longevity!
Steamer is quick and easy to use compared to ironing
Wayyy better than ironing. Five minutes vs thirty to forty minute.
Steamer is effective for removing most wrinkles
I didn't like using a garment steamer at first because my dress shirts might have some wrinkling remaining or they wouldn't be as crisp.

Tiny water reservoir limits use
The reservoir is also tiny!
Handheld steamers are exhausting for multiple items
The hand held steamers are such a pain if you’re doing more than a couple items.
If you’re streaming more than a few things a week it’s absolutely worth it.
Wobbly horizontal board
In horizontal position, the board wobbles.
Requires hard-to-find anti-calc cartridge
DO NOT BUY THIS STEAMER. The ixeo model I have requires this anti-calc cartridge that is nowhere to be found.
Perceived fragility of the steamer
That thing looks like it's gonna break the second time you use it.
Leaking water issues in some models
I was really sad spending so much on an iron and by the end of the second year having it, it was unusable unless I wanted to iron with absolutely no steam.
What type of rowenta did u get that leaked? I also heard to make sure you get it made in Germany instead of China
Not effective for trousers or shirts
I use a steamer for posh and regular life. It’s just easier, and I kinda despise ironing.
Steamer may have leaking issues
You may want to look into demineralizing your steamer- it shouldn't drip.
Steamer does not produce crisp results like ironing
It was such an infuriating experience, I returned the steamer and went back to paying $250+ a month to have them professionally pressed.
The steamer only steams it to loosen the threads and get rid of the more apparent wrinkles.
I've just given in to having my shirts laundered and pressed and leaving my standard dry cleaning fare to the professionals.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion about requirements for a good steamer
Having a high price tag isn’t a concern, so long as it does the job.
Can you use this horizontally without it spilling
Why not just upgrade your iron? Mine has a vertical steaming function (and then you can still flat block squares).
I am quite fond of my Beautural steamer from Amazon. The one thing I'd say is be sure to get a steamer that can be held horizontally and won't dump steaming hot water all over you and/or your knits.
Preference for Jiffy steamer
Just buy a jiffy steamer
Discussion on the effectiveness of steamers versus irons
Steaming the chest part is good enough

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Preference for steamers over irons
I agree with you, steamer all the way.
Steamer for sure, I suck at ironing and it’s more time consuming.
I have never ironed again.

Preference for standing steamers for efficiency
I've switched to a standing steamer since a while, and I dont think I can ever go back to traditional ironing or steaming.
Realistically, it just didn’t perform as well as an iron with steam.
Nothing beats a good iron that’s used competently.
As someone who has done a lot of ironing now and for many years, this is the best advice.
Mention of different brands and recommendations
Which ones are decent? I saw a lot of recommendations for Jiffy, but that’s quite an investment for a hobbiest like me.
Experience with warranty service from another brand
I got a pure enrichment steamer on Amazon, it stopped working and they sent me a new one without having to return the old one.
Discussion about Rowenta's reputation for quality
Most of their irons are Made in Germany.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion about Rowenta's reputation compared to other brands
Rowenta irons are right up this alley.
Are irons in America really that bad that Rowenta is the pinnacle?
Rowenta is a mediocre product at best, not a buy-for-life product at all.
Preference for other brands over Rowenta.
Can anyone recommend a clothes steamer that could replace ironing?
Like another has said, Jiffy is the gold standard.
For residential, I’ve had good luck with Conair.
Discussion about the effectiveness of steamers compared to irons
Getting out that ironing board is not my favorite 🤣
For me yes, I’m terrible at ironing
it leaves things looking super crisp and gets the job done fast!
Discussion about the longevity of Rowenta irons
which one is the best? Which rowenta should i get him? I either hear that peoples rowenta lasts forever or leaks water in months.
Preference for Jiffy steamers over Rowenta
I tried out a random steamer in an electronics store and its actually much more comfortable for me
i grew up w/the jiffy, own the handheld version, but wirecutter recommends the reliable vivio 500GC
A standard Jiffy is a great option, the one with the plastic jug that you fill and seat upside down into the water tank.
Jiffy is the gold standard for steamers. I prefer the ones with the metal/wooden handle over the plastic handle ones.
