Snoop's Take

The TETON Sports -35 Degree and 0 Degree Sleeping Bag is designed for campers and outdoor enthusiasts seeking warmth and comfort in extreme cold conditions. With a tough canvas shell and innovative fiber fill, this sleeping bag promises durability and insulation that holds up in frigid temperatures. Consumer sentiment highlights that this sleeping bag offers impressive warmth and value for its price. Many users have praised its comfort, especially for side and stomach sleepers, with one stating, "it worked great for me" during cold nights. However, some users express concerns about its mummy design feeling claustrophobic and the temperature ratings being somewhat misleading, indicating that it may not be sufficient for extreme temperatures. Overall, the TETON Sports sleeping bag is recommended for budget-conscious campers who prioritize warmth and comfort in moderate to cold conditions, despite some mixed feedback regarding its extreme temperature performance.

I’m not a HUGE fan of my bag right now because it’s a mummy bag and it makes me feel claustrophobic.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Teton Sports offers good budget camping gear.
Teton Sports is the best budget camping gear IMO.
Comfortable for side and stomach sleepers
I picked up one of these during their black friday sale, its crazy comfortable! I'm a side/stomach sleeper and it worked great for me.
I have a $250 cabellas magnum XL 0 degree bag. Lowest temperature we slept in was 14f degrees. You stay warm and cozy as long as your inside it.
I totally get your issue with the sleeping bag. My sleeping bags are in size long because I'm 6'2'', but I wasn't sure of your height, so I just picked the cheapest reasonable option.
Keeps warm in extreme cold
The cold is far easier than the heat imo.
-9 last night with a -30 windchill .. 2 sleeping bags in a van with my dog.. windows cracked.. it was fine.. a good cold weather sleeping bag an wool base layers.
I have the Teton bag. I used it last January in Northern MN. It was -20F and I was perfectly warm.
I've repeatedly read about or seen videos that say the Teton bags are actually surprisingly good for their price, and a 25 degree difference is a Lot.
Good for cold weather camping
A good sleeping bag helps.
Good value for price
My last bag didn't compress down well at all so I think that's pretty important to me, weight not as much since I've minimized the rest of my gear.
Very comfortable and nothing better for the price
The specs seem too good for the price.
Keeps warm in cold temperatures
Warm and comfortable.
Good warranty for a budget brand
They replaced my cheap backpacking backpack after like 6 years because a strap came undone.
Comfortable in moderate cold
Both nights I was comfortable. But the colder night wasn't the most enjoyable.
Thick sleeping bag suitable for extreme cold
Teton Sports makes a -35°F bag for around $150. It's super thick and would work at 0 degrees.
Good performance for the price
Wondering if they are decent quality for the price.
While they won't be as light, or as durable as the bigger name brands, for the price they perform well.
Keeps comfortable in 20F conditions
Does it keep me fairly comfortable in my normal camp clothes, or with an extra layer of clothing in 20F conditions? Sure does.
Well insulated for cold weather
I didn't realize how cold it was in my tent until one night I got really thirsty and grabbed my water bottle which was almost cold enough to freeze.
I've used the 20 degree bag comfortably down to the mid 20s with a Sea to Summit Reactor liner, and the 0 degree bag comfortably down to 6 degrees with thermal base layer and wool socks.
Can compress to fit in a backpack
It can be somewhat compressed but I wont lie it's still a bit on the big side.
Are you able to compress it down pretty small still?
This is only gonna be used for week long hikes at the most.
Good budget camping gear
I own the 4000 and I love it, it works perfectly for me for a 3-4 day hikes when I go

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Mummy bag design feels claustrophobic
I’m not a HUGE fan of my bag right now because it’s a mummy bag and it makes me feel claustrophobic.
Not warm enough for extreme temperatures
I sleep cold, and I have the Teton 0 degree bag you mention. I have had it out in 7 degree F weather, and I needed a wool blanket on top and a down quilt inside to be comfortable.
Temperature ratings can be misleading
You get what you pay for, and Teton is selling a cheap product with quite the steaming pile of bullshit claims here.
Quality concerns regarding warmth
the filling is just "pilled" and you can usually fluff it out by putting it in the dryer with no heat
Teton Sports gear is a middle-of-the-road gear company with cheap prices.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion about alternative sleeping bag options
I was also considering the TETON Sports -10 Degree 3 layer bag but it seems pretty large/heavy, but for the price of $115, it's pretty attractive.
I bought a Sea to Summit 35° quilt for less than $200 and it's been amazing.
Remember if you are serious about zero you do not want a bunch of space to heat up.
the Nemo spoon shaped bags are pretty great. Not sure how far down the temperature scale they go though.
Discussion on comfort of different sleeping setups for camping
Most comfortable sleep setup for car (tent) camping, either alone or with my SO? Hi all - I'm looking for your suggestions on the most comfortable 'feels like home' sleep setup I can buy for car camping, something that can work either alone or with my SO, and at temperatures down to 30 (maybe the 20s too).
This might be a bit over the top, but my bf really doesn't sleep well. Especially when camping, so this is our setup.
I would do padding, air mattress, and two separate sleeping bags to keep warm.
I've never had an issue with my megamat staying pumped and I do love mine if I'm not using my rooftop tent.
General discussion about camping experiences
We are more 3 season camping.
General discussion on sleeping bag brands and their features.
Do Nemo bags still leak lots of feathers? Mine from 2018 does.
Dunno, I have a synthetic-filled Tempo bag.
Discussion about bag compression and expansion
It may need time to expand. Especially if it's been compressed for a long time.

General chatter about camping and sleeping experiences
Who knew I’d get this deep of life advice on a camping sub
Mention of alternatives to sleeping bags for extreme weather
Watch for Marmot having their -40 bag on sale.
General discussion about cold weather sleeping gear
I bought a sleeping bag rated for zero and didn't have issues with getting cold while my heater was broken, but the worst few nights did max it out (rated for zero)
Discussion about alternatives for better gear
Unless you are preparing for a trip that is happening sometime soon, there are ways to get better gear for the same price.

Discussion about washing techniques for sleeping bags.
How should I wash my sleeping bag? Hello!
Lift bags by carefully carrying them from the bottom when transporting from washer to dryer.
A lot of top load machines don’t have an agitator anymore (mine doesn’t). I would assume this would be fine?
Since you don't want to wash your sleeping bag more than absolutely necessary, might as well use the best machine available (front loader).
Discussion about sleeping bag ratings
It actually packs down better than many synthetic options but the compression sack that comes with it is of bad quality and design.
Well, if it is 20C, then that is absolutley a nice bag. However I feel you are referencing 20F, in which case that is -6C, and then I would agree, It appears a little thin.
Discussion about the differences in sleeping bag price ranges
What's the difference between a $50 sleeping bag and a $300 sleeping bag?
Weight/warmth/price
Packable volume too. Very important for backpacking, not so much for car camping
Making them lightweight and packable is the expensive trick.
Discussion about layering for extreme cold
A 30° rating difference will probably cause sweat and that will make the cold much worse even under the layers.
Wrap the blanket around the outside of your bag and maybe have a smaller down comforter wrapped around you inside the bag - I’ve camped in subzero weather and snow that way
The big issue with bags for that cold is going to be size.
Discussion about non-mummy sleeping bag alternatives.
Would also want it so I can lay it flat for summer camping so I can use it year round.
I love my Nemo.
the Montbell bag really works for me.
Recommendations for keeping warm while camping
Very cheap, one or two shoved in a bag just before bed ensures you're getting in warm, it's hard to warm up if you're freezing when you get in your bag so if you start off toasty you're ahead of the curve.
Sleeping bag or not. You still need a sleeping pad that's rated R5 and up.
Comparison between down and synthetic sleeping bags
For the same temperature rating the down bag is going to be lighter and more compressible, which has obvious advantages for backpacking.
Discussion about packing for overnight backpacking
It seems like a tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat will take up almost an entire backpack.
That sleeping pad is not designed for backpacking.
Thanks. Part of the problem is that I don't know what is Walmart quality or not yet.
You generally get what you pay for. That pack is $70 and the sleeping bag is $30. Those are very
General chatter about different sleeping bag brands
Anything that allows you to get into the woods is a great thing indeed.
Discussion about sleeping bag size for tall individuals
One thing about the Kelty sleeping bag is its only 78 inches long.
