What’s your most underrated piece of hunting gear/equipment that has made a world of difference? Mine would have to be heated hand grips on my dirtbike, makes those early morning rides that much more pleasant and bearable.

Anyone use it/know if it’s any good?
Discussion about the importance of quality gear for hunting
you don’t need that new Sitka jacket, or the best .338 lapua to get the job done.

Discussion about service dogs and public access issues
I just thought maybe it would be some months in the distance, or something.
Great job. 99.9% are NOT service dogs.
It didn't look genuine and as I looked at it the man gave me a worried look as if he knew I figured out it was fake.
Most dogs in public places nowadays are ESA fakes that are there to make a narcissist feel better.
Discussion about the nutritional value of dog food brands
honestly it's no of her business but I could stop thinking about it so I checked the website and was shocked at what they clame
so much rumor and fear mongering has gone out about those brands of pet food, probably so other unregulated foods like Farmer's Only had more room
Hills Royal Canin, and Purina are formulated by veterinary nutritionist that work full time on their staff. That means they are fully balanced specifically for the life stage or condition they are labeled for and also tested on pets before being put into production
trust vets! PS my dogs eat Hills because I used to work in consumer research and in the surveys I did on dog food, the highest satisfaction scores were for Hill’s
Discussion about starting hunting as a new experience
Hunting is definitely a male dominated field - and I am also finding aside from wanting to support another woman/femme I definitely don’t want to be out in the woods alone for long periods of time with a man I don’t know well.
Feel free to shoot me messages any time you might have questions. Best of luck, you rock, I hope you can get some good harvests and enjoy some time in nature.
I’m excited to take my butchering skills into the field from the farm, so very glad I have broken down animals before but definitely intimidated by something the size of a deer & hoping to do my first few deer hunts with my new guide buddy!
Good for you for being willing to do something I won’t- but I’ll trade fresh homegrown fruit for meat.
Discussion about costs associated with starting hunting
Well I'm learning that I'll easily be over $500, even close to $1000 if I want above average items.
Waterfowling to me, doesn’t seem the same. I’ve spent probably $1500 total and I’m CHEAP.
Advice for beginners on hunting gear
I've got a buddy who said he'd take me, but I'm trying to learn as well beforehand.
Don’t spend too much out the gate. Figure out what you like and what your style is or what type of areas you’ll be hunting.
No calling is better than bad calling. Your buddy can help you position your decoy spread and hopefully you can mix in some swimmers or spinners as ducks tend to be drawn to more lifelike spreads with motion.
Discussion about the challenges of beginner hunting
I want to kill fewer animals by not purchasing so much tofu and using a single projectile like an arrow or bullet to kill one animal and eat that animal for a prolonged period of time.
You’ve got a long road ahead, western deer and elk are some very challenging hunts physically and mentally.
No point in getting everything together and spending any money if you're incapable of spending an intense amount of patience either stalking or sitting and waiting for these animals.
If you can save enough money, or make friends with the right people. Going with a guide will be the best way to do this.
General chatter about hunting experience and tips
I’ve researched and did some target shooting, but at the end of the day you just have to get out there and gain experience!
I use them for EVERYTHING! taking care of my chickens in winter, fishing, hunting, picking up dog poop in winter.
They’re a freaking work horse. I’ve worn them in shallows while fishing and duck hunting before.
I looked up Meindl boots and I don’t see a rubber boot option, but I’ll definitely keep them on my list for an upland boot!
General discussion about hunting gear preparation
I’m trying to get all my gear ready.
Plain baking soda will fade the clothes.
My biggest suggestion is to put your hunting clothes on once you are out of the vehicle getting ready to walk into your stand.
My routine is Scent killing detergent, air dry outside unless it’s charcoal activated which needs to get hot in a dryer, handle with rubber gloves until there in ziplock bags, store in a bin until you get dressed to go to the stand.

Discussion about underrated hunting gear
What’s your most underrated piece of hunting gear/equipment that has made a world of difference? Mine would have to be heated hand grips on my dirtbike, makes those early morning rides that much more pleasant and bearable.
Elk estrus urine vape flavor. 5mg. Hits hard.
A pair of ping pong paddles.
Crazy Creek chair. Fantastic glassing pad if you’re hunting out west. Overbuilt, made in USA and can go under your sleeping pad for a little extra cushion/insulation
Discussion about hunting dogs and their training
Gus isn’t a very good hunting dog He just stands there looking around.
Awww… Gus is a gentle soul who doesn’t want to get the bunnies! My dog is scared of rabbits.
Mine was once terrified by a box turtle 😭 He’s not exactly hunting material.
He got lucky! His brothers & sisters are working dogs. He lays on the couch like he pays the bills.
General discussion about waders and their performance
I’m leaning towards those. Any thoughts?
How do we feel about LaCrosse?
General conversation about hunting gear expenses
Add in fuel, camping equipment (I walk in and stay at parks), park fees, food…thousands.
Discussion about hunting gear and personal experiences
Has anyone had any luck with TideWe waders? I’ve read a lot of positive reviews online but they seem significantly cheaper compared to most of the others I’ve seen.
Thank you for the added detail! Think I may snag myself a pair once the Black Friday deals hit.
