Having bottles in the front seems more natural at first glance, but I worry how easy it'll be to take out and rearrange the bottles in their holders.

Positive Feedback

It was only a tiny bit smaller. I then bought another one [2L hydropack] and I did a comparison.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Easy access to hydration during activities
Having bottles in the front seems more natural at first glance, but I worry how easy it'll be to take out and rearrange the bottles in their holders.
I like that I can easily take up to 1.5L for long runs, because I’m slow and out there for a while.
Would want some feedback on which one of these two to get, or if there are some other better packs in the price range.
Will hydration backpacks like these be allowed?
Easy to use and refill
I felt pretty dehydrated and weak at the end of the run (with some dry heaves just for fun), and it made me realize that I'm now pushing distances where I really need to be bringing water and some easy carbs out with me.
Made of safe, high-quality materials
Which hydration backpacks have the safest/healthiest water reservoir/bite valve material? I remember camelbak used to use food grade silicone, I think.
I’d trust any of the major brands; Osprey, Camelbak, Hydrapak, Gregory, CNOC.
Saw somebody ask "how do you stay hydrated in high temps" so figured I would share what I use. Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS). This stuff works like gangbusters.
Appears not to be in weird flavors either which is nice.
Easy to fill and clean
Nuun for a while but they're expensive for the amount of electrolytes you get.
Interchangeable bite valves for convenience
the bite valves are interchangeable so if you prefer one brand just get that one.
Comfortable and well-built
It feels lighter than the backpack.
I might just have to give a vest a shot!

Difficult to track water intake
It was only a tiny bit smaller. I then bought another one [2L hydropack] and I did a comparison.
Cleaning the bladder and tube can be cumbersome
Soft flasks all the way, for all the reasons you mentioned.
We use squenchers because they make popsicles and 16.9 oz water bottle packs.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion about hydration packs in general
It's cool looking, but it doesn't even have anything to secure the hydration hose? just wildly flopping about? In the video the guy tucks it under the chest strap. Thats a fail!
Have you ever tried running in this pack? I'm looking for something that is good for both
Would like to go for some longer hikes. Some of the 6+ mile hikes show around 3+ hours.
I’d recommend a Talon 11 or 22. But that’s just me. Every pack company has a basic day packs, the difference is mostly bells and whistles.

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion on hydration strategies for long runs
Osprey Duro.... 1.5L hydration pack plus pockets for additional bottles.
It’s great, doesn’t bounce around at all.

Discussion about cleaning hydration bladders
Best way to clean hydration bladders? I saw notes on using vinegar and water but wouldn’t the acidic nature of vinegar make it more likely to leech the plastics etc from the you material?
I never put anything but water in mine and I never clean it. I empty it and the hose, take the mouthpiece off the hose and leave it by the sink, roll the hose in half and stick it in the bladder to kinda prop it open and hang it in the laundry room to dry out.
Been doing this for years and I have no issues. A little extra effort blowing through the tube to try to drain it as much as I can then just hang dry.
Discussion about hydration strategies in cold weather
Was curious to know what you do to stay hydrated in similar conditions.
Honestly if the long run is less than 2 hours, I just hydrate well beforehand in the winter, and then afterwards of course.
Same, in cold weather, a 20 mile run is cool w/o water
I feel I actually lose more hydration at these low temps, but still not enough to be a problem on an hour run as long as you're properly hydrated beforehand.
Chatter about personal hydration needs and preferences
I would have to pee 30 mins in.
Yes, water bottle + Fanny pack. I camp so my Fanny pack is never too full. I go back to camp and switch out for cold weather, though last year I didn’t really need to, nighttime was perfect temperature
Hi there! I'm launching my own hydration backpack product, so if you're interested, I can PM you more details and pics (I can't figure out how to attach pics to comments and our website isn't live yet.)
Discussion about hydration pack size policies at events
I'm a bigger person and had to go with the pack that would fit... But I don't want to be stuck throwing it away at the gate.
it looks like this pack clearly follows the rules, but if it helps bring it up to the gate, totally unzipped and show the bladder clearly empty, you probably won't get hassled.
I’ve never had an issue with a similarly sized pack at festivals over the years.
Did you have any issues with this hydration pack? I was considering buying it for WWWY 2024.
Discussion on permitted hydration packs for events
hydration packs? I was seeing on the website under permitted items it says empty hydration packs that are less then 5” deep are permitted and no “cargo carrying” hydration packs
Look at the sojourner hydration backpacks on Amazon. I specifically reached out to customer support and they gave the go ahead on it.
This one is on Amazon and it is the one I have taken in the past with no problems
If you aren't hiding some bulky dumb shit, you'll be fine. Security at fests these days aren't as cool with the full size backpack that has a shitload of pockets and pouches and just a little pouch for a water bladder.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Concerns about comfort and weight distribution
I loved the thing and can’t wait to go for long runs outside and never have to think….”my mouth is dry..im thirsty..can’t wait to finish so i can have water”.
