I have that too. I find the cleaning of the mouth valve a bid fidgety, but other than that it's a fantastic product.

Positive Feedback

They're crap. Walmart sells them and they're the pack of choice for homeless people in my city.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Great product for hydration
I have that too. I find the cleaning of the mouth valve a bid fidgety, but other than that it's a fantastic product.
What is the best hydration pack? I was wondering the best hydration pack for walking trails usually 10-12km long.
Wtf? Does this mean no camelbacks or hydration packs allowed? This bag policy seems absurd.
Place your camelback in the clear bag. Dude abides.
Durable construction for long-term use
I’ve never had anything stolen out of it.
Great storage options with multiple pockets
I have done quite a few reviews on my tiktok about the different hydration backpack offerings between brands; I personally have 4 of the Sojourner Hydration backpacks— I actually really do love these hydration packs because of how much you can pack into the bags and the mesh pockets on the straps can comfortably fit an iPhone 15 Pro Max with a phone case.
Easy to refill hydration bladder
refilling the hydration bladder is a breeze compared to some other packs out there.
Provides structure and support for carrying items
It's the framing of your bag the plastic is so it can hold the shape of the bag and protect your back when you have awkward items from digging into your back.
It gives structure to your backpack.
It’s just padding and structure.
Lightweight design makes it easy to carry
Plus it keeps it lighter.
Hydration packs encourage consistent water intake while hiking
I find that I drink more water and more consistently throughout the hike with the hydration pack since it’s right there.
Affordable price for hydration pack
Best hydration pack for <~$60? (For longer races) I ran the Killington Beast ~3 weeks ago with an Outdoor Products 2L hydration pack.
Includes a hydration bladder
It looks decent for the price and also comes with the 2 liter water bladder.
Good size for travel
40 liters, though, is probably a good size for what you're willing to do.
Worked fine for travel in a bunch of countries (good size for carry on, held up well, lots of room/pockets).
Holds up well for travel
I bought mine on sale from Campmor thinking that I could replace it 2 or 3 times for what I paid for it before I reached the prices of other "better" packs.
Affordable price
They are pretty inexpensive.
Cheap can be functional too.

Perceived as low quality
They're crap. Walmart sells them and they're the pack of choice for homeless people in my city.
It's Walmart. They make tons of stuff for cheap, which means the craftsmanship is cheap, and then the price at the end is cheap, but you get what you pay for - cheap.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion about hydration pack features
What is the absolute best (including coolest looking) hydration pack? when i was on POC's site i peeped their hydration pack which I had never seen. It's cool looking, but it doesn't even have anything to secure the hydration hose? just wildly flopping about? In the video the guy tucks it under the chest strap. Thats a fail!
Have you ever tried running in this pack? I'm looking for something that is good for both
Hydration pack questions? I got you. These are the ones I have in rotation now. Not counting a few missing from our last move, the ones I passed to my hubby, and ones that I immediately returned or sold. You have hydration pack questions? I can help.
Are there any that have truly unique features (whether you like them or not)? And which ones have the most accessible front storage in your opinion? (prepping for a 100 miler, on which many snacks will be eaten)
Discussion about hydration pack brands and features
Old liner 1.5L is dead (lining is flaking off inside, old af Camelbak), and the pack itself is ratty and needs to be put down.
I recently got an Osprey hydration pack and it's fantastic. It's durable, comfortable, and holds enough water for long hikes.
You can't go wrong with Osprey or Camelback brands. I have this Osprey hydration pack and it's great for day hikes.
I have a platypus 3L that has never let me down.
Discussion about hydration bladders and their valve types
Most of them have reviews that are all over the place, from 5 stars to this is the leakiest worst tasting piece of garbage ever.
I highly recommend getting 3L instead of smaller. You'll probably want it, and it's barely any bigger.
Every other brand I've had has sprung a leak. The Hydrapak brand has been the most resilient of the brands I've used.
I'd recommend 3L as you'll don't need to always fill it to max.
Discussion about hydration pack brands and preferences
Having the sliding lock on the top makes the bladder easier to clean, fill up, & virtually leak proof.
No idea about the insulated part, I drink water at room temp and I've never had my water get warm even on long days except the small amount in the hose.
Discussion about hydration pack aesthetics and functionality
I was interested with the experiences of people with these type of backpacks not just the sojourners but other ones as well.
Discussion about the purpose of the plastic sheet in the backpack
What exactly is it for/ it’s purpose?
Discussion about finding backpacks with hydration pack clips
Only really need to be carrying my camera, some snacks, and a rainjacket.
You'll have a very difficult time finding a backpack to purchase that *doesn't* have some sort of attachment system for a hydration bladder.
I guess it's been awhile since I purchased a small one.
Every Osprey, Gregory, REI, etc, brand pack we carried had some sort of method for attachment even if they didn’t come with a bladder.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Suggestions for bladder installation and routing
I have no clue how to wire the hose in order to be still able to open the back access of the pack.
This will let you open the back but also keep any leaking water from your electronics.
Feed the hose through the bottom where the water drop symbol is.
Discussion about the versatility of hydration packs
Get a pack you like and put the hydration system in yourself.
I have the Talon 33L, it's very nice, very light.
Discussion about using hydration pack for alcohol
Hydration pack and alcohol I will be floating the Guadeloupe next weekend and want to fill my hydration pack with alcohol and have 2 questions:
You could go with a simple mix of Mio energy + water + vodka. Hydration, energy, and booze all in one.
I'm thinking the taste would leach into the pack and you'd be eternally tasting whatever you put in it even if you clean it really well.
My friends tried this a couple years back for cabrewing. They said it lasted the trip, but ate away at the seams and was leaking by the time they got home.
Discussion about alternative hydration packs
It's currently $26.95 on Amazon. It fits well and is pretty light but still was large enough to carry all the nutrition I took onto the course in Killington for 8 hours without any issues.
I have had this 2L hydration pack from Teton since last year and I love it.
It's designed specifically for running so not too sloshy and it has a couple quick access pockets for gels etc.
So my second choice would be a Nathan HPL 020 followed by a Camelbak Marathoner.

Discussion about hydration bladder sizes and preferences
Thanks I think I will go with 3
Mention of customization options for hydration packs
Buy the EL Wire elsewhere. Don’t worry about the accessories, the bag is the main thing.
Discussion about hydration packs for larger riders
I'm getting some things sorted to support that - mainly keeping some trailside support gear for my friends and I.
I love my Osprey Seral 7.
The waist straps are absolutely super long.
That pack took a beating for a decade between mountain biking and dirt biking.
Comparison of hydration pack brands and features
Mine stays in place and I have muscle memoried it so I dont have to think about grabbing or replacing it anymore.
The evoc hip pack water supply works well for me.
Comparative discussion of various hiking packs
Thanks again for the help!
I absolutely love it. Internal hydration option and works as a very comfortable day pack of needed.
There are definitely plenty of other great packs out there, but it works well for me.
The Flash series is quite popular.
Mention of personal experiences with different pack types
I think I’m a convert.
Discussion about beginner needs in backpacking
The pack will serve you fine.
Comparison of gear quality at Costco
Would it get me by while I lust for better bags?

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Concerns about water supply access in hip packs
How's the water supply? Seems super awkward to me and tough to acess but never tried a hydration hip pack
I’ve encountered the same magnet issue on my Osprey pack so I swapped it out with Camelbak’s tube magnet. Works like a charm and no more issues with the tube coming off
Mention of sweating issues with hydration packs
Thanks for the info! I have a hydration pack but don't like the ridiculously sweaty back I get every time 😂.
I sweat like a pig enough that my shirt will be soaked with or without a backpack.
