Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Preference for traction cleats in winter conditions
Overall this boot is just nicer. It's built better and uses a higher quality leather.
Love my traction tread lites. If I woulda known how much floor work I would be doing, I woulda got the tough toe.
General chatter on comfort and usage of different boot models
I don’t think I can share the sentiment of throwaway boots
Red Wing has sooo many options so there’s something for everyone.
I found that my current cheap spikes, could not even get into the ice.
They are more convenient than carrying and putting on microspikes.
Discussion on shoe traction preferences for different conditions
Lebron 20s and they've been great, looking to buy a pair of something else.
Two wxy v3 has goat level traction
I'm one of the only ones on my court not sliding around everywhere and I use the Two Way v3.
Dame certified line is top tier for traction
Discussion on shoe traction preferences for winter conditions
Turf shoes vs cleats? Just curious if anyone has tried using turf shoes to play before? They seem like they'd be more comfortable, but I'm worried about having enough grip compared to my cleats
Yes, I always take both to tournaments. If the ground is very dry and hard, turf shoes are for me the better option.
Big "Yes" to turf shoes for artificial turf & dry/hard/solid ground.
If your play in soccer shoes, you can get them for any field condition. Personally, I have turf shoes for turf and a pair each of hard ground and soft ground cleats for grass.
Preference for ice cleats over traditional boots
Only traction aids.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Crampons are preferred for grip on packed trails
Once it becomes more work to lift our feet up and out of the now than it is to walk in a snowshoe, we just switch over.
Traction is your friend when it's slippery.
Snowshoes are less effective on traverses
Snowshoes are shit on traverses and you can end up falling, whereas microspikes will give you traction, but you'll sink in.
Snowshoes also suck at traverses, so you point your feet straight down and hope your range of motion is enough to cover slope inclination.
Preference for spikes over snowshoes in certain conditions
No annoying clacking. Gait closer to normal.
I don’t like spiked shoes. I like the ability to take my traction off, depending on how the trail changes.
Spike cross have been the go to here in the Rockies.
Discussion on various DIY methods for improving shoe traction.
I'm looking for tips to create better traction and with things I can find at home.
Make sure to dry out first or you will slip.
I have a friend that would spray hairspray on the outsole to get better traction.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Discussion on product comparison in terms of performance
Went to the work line and ordered them the Lites (soft toe) and they love them.
Thanks for taking the time to share and document your experiences.
In looser or variable snow, a pair of removable, small crampons like Black Diamond, Kahtoola, or Chainsen are best.
I have a pair of Gore-tex shoes (built-in gaiter) with LaSportiva hobnails I installed myself.
Recommendations for various brands of ice cleats
Yes I salt everything but there are times it's not enough.
Both are good.
I like that spikeless design of YakTrax.
I tried some others and STRONGLY prefer these, 10/10.
Discussion on availability of ice cleats at Costco
Does Costco sell those ice pick/cleat attachments you strap on your shoes to help walk on the slippery sidewalks?
They’re usually called microspikes. I’ve seen them before at Costco but not sure if they’re always available in store.
I bought mine from Costco years ago but I dono how much winter stuff they have left, spring stuff is out now.
Discussion on various styles of ice cleats
While full foot style are better for traction, the mid sole style are easy to remove and rotate to the side so that when inside you can walk without fully removing them to avoid floor damage.
Discussion on various brands of ice cleats
I still have a couple days to return them, they are comfortable and fit well but I don’t want to deal with them falling apart in a year.
There are so many brands out there these days and so many different opinions on hiking gear it would make anyone's head spin.
General chatter about comfort and fit of boots
I've never had a (premature) failure with them, and you can get them in wiiiiide which is a big plus for me.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Acknowledgment of ice cleats as necessary for winter conditions
Buy a pair of slip on ice cleats. That way any boot is a good boot.
