Snoop's Take

KitchenAid Gourmet Odor Absorbing Splatter Screen is a 13-inch stainless steel guard designed to keep stovetops and countertops free from messy oil splatters while controlling unwanted cooking odors. It works by using a patented activated carbon filter and a grated design that releases steam to prevent soggy foods. Consumers have been vocal about the product’s accessory design, particularly the pouring shield. As one exasperated user noted, "The pouring shield just got in my way and added one more thing for me to wash." Many reviews bemoan its insecure fit and overall inconvenience, with complaints like "That thing is a pain." Despite being dishwasher safe and built for durability, the shield remains the sticking point in user experiences. Overall, the product delivers on keeping your kitchen cleaner and safer from splatters, but its accessory design issues mean it’s recommended only for buyers who can overlook the pouring shield’s shortcomings.

I wouldn't trust it to lean heavy bowls against while adding ingredients, but otherwise it's OK!

Positive Feedback

I love the idea of the splash guard for my mixer but even after 8+ years I never use it because the design is so bad.

Poor design and fit issues with the pouring shield
I love the idea of the splash guard for my mixer but even after 8+ years I never use it because the design is so bad.
And—no surprise—it kept popping off.
That thing is a pain.
I secure it in the box it came and and leave it there
Out‐of‐stock and availability concerns
Does anybody know if these are ever gonna be back in stock? I’ve been making a lot of bread with my kitchen aid mixer and it just sends the flour flying everywhere.

Positive experience with KitchenAid tilt-head mixers
I love my Artisan 5qt tilt head. Works very well for all the things you’ve described.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
DIY alternatives for pouring guard for glass bowls
My mother uses a large towel when she adds flour to the bowl.
I recently got the scale/sifter attachment and it has an adjustable chute that the dry ingredients go down and at the perfect speed so nothing goes flying.
Alternative methods to prevent flour mess
if you're impatient throw a towel over the top of the whole thing and just move the switch through it.
Thanks! I followed your advice to add a small amount at a time and starting slow and it worked! 😄 No flour mess!
I had to do the towel thing last time. It worked great.
I’ve draped a towel over the top, but yeah, as others have said, just add flour in a bit at a time.
Repositioning workaround for pouring shield
We just rotate the shield around to where the pour chute is either in the front or to the left side.
I would be surprised if it could only be affixed in one position.

Usage experiences and tips for the KitchenAid pouring shield
So I decided to use it now lol.
Not sure what went flying faster, the flour or the expletives.
I wrap a tea towel around the bowl when starting to mix the flour and it helps keep it from flying around!
I usually take a fork and hand mix the dry ingredients until there isn’t a lot of loose flour before actually turning it on.
Preference for off-brand pouring shield alternatives
Off brand are fine - happy with mine that was around $10.

Positive feedback on Ray-Ban Meta glasses
I love them for wearing around the house and listening to music or podcasts, answering calls as I'm working at my PC and taking videos of the kids.
For me, these glasses are a game changer!!! The mic quality is 10x better than my airpods pro!
Wow! Funny story I was talking to my husband and subject came up on these and I had tons of questions…son, there’s not one thing u didn’t cover!
Definitely reading this. Thanks for the thorough feedback.
Negative feedback on Ray-Ban Meta glasses
It's a complete waste of money wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy.
