I really like the mk pockets! They seem to be the same quality as the Kinder brand at a much lower price

Positive Feedback

They are more prone to leaking I find, but I was only using them at home during the day so a bit of leaking wasn’t a huge issue for me.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Good quality at lower price
I really like the mk pockets! They seem to be the same quality as the Kinder brand at a much lower price
Mama Koala is a decent brand and thats a good price for pockets even without the insert.
Works well with cotton prefolds
They are much more absorbent than the microfiber inserts that usually come with or designed to go with pockets.
Decent selection available
totally looks like MK has a good selection with no microfiber that snaps in.
Good durability over time
they're holding up great after 2+ years.
Roomy design for comfort
they’re roomier than other pocket diapers but didn’t fit my baby till she was way older so
Good quality for the price
They have so many cute prints but is it good quality?
They are perfectly good. No issues. No relaxed elastics (unlike the bumgenius) despite our baby being the 2nd or 3rd baby to use them fulltime.
My favorite diapers are Mama Koala, I think. From a pure economical perspective though, prefolds, a few snappies and covers are very economical.
Cute prints available
They’re good quality just run kinda small.
They fit my daughter so well and the prints can’t be beaten !!!
They seem too cheap to be good 🤷🏽‍♀️
Mama Koala is very much a fast fashion-esque brand, unfortunately.
Durable over time
Absolutely love them! They've represented the majority of our stash for almost 2 years now.
Most of my stash is MK and I like them! 🤷🏻‍♀️ I replaced my inserts about six months in, but probably could’ve gotten away with just getting a booster to go along with the microfibre for awhile.
Works well during potty training
Only thing is they are cut a little smaller than some others.
Good fit for toddlers
Mama koala? I switched recently to cloth diapering my 22mo boy, going to try for a baby soon.
Affordable pricing
I did buy a bunch of new Mama Koalas from Little Bunny Tails for super cheap-they’re about $3 and change
No leaks during use
No leaks even when she's in the baby carrier for our morning walk (about an hour).
Cost-effective compared to disposables
I’m also hoping to save money by going the cloth diaper route.
Your cloth stash will cost less than $500, and for many people a lot less than that.
No skin irritation from elastics
My son has been wearing them since birth (now almost 6mo) and has never had the elastics digging into his skin.
Great fit for skinny babies
My son was/is a string bean and I love my CBs.
High quality compared to competitors
Definitely agree that the quality of these diapers is very high.
User-friendly for daycare and grandparents
YES they are by far my most husband/grandparent-friendly diapers, due to no rise snaps and the stretchy waist tabs.
Effective at preventing blowouts
the double gusset type is the best form of protection.
Encourages potty training
I think they help to potty train when the time comes because they don’t feel super dry when you pee in them like regular diapers.
Sustainable option for eco-conscious parents
I absolutely love them.
Breathable and comfortable material
The fleece is widely used as a way to keep baby butts feeling dry to avoid a rash from having wet skin.
If you decide to use them as covers with the fleece attached, you'll still end up with micro plastics in the water I guess, so you might as well use them the way they were intended?
Effective at preventing rashes
When my mother finally caved and we exclusively used Mama Koalas at her house my daughter didn't have a reaction.
Cute design and fluffiness
the fluff bum is so cute.
I really appreciate the smaller leg holes on the MKs because even though she had tiny bird legs, she could fit them starting around 10 pounds.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Prone to leaking with certain inserts
They are more prone to leaking I find, but I was only using them at home during the day so a bit of leaking wasn’t a huge issue for me.
Fit issues with newborns
Mama koala one size fitting a newborn? I have newborn diapers and the mama koalas one the smallest size are barellyyyy bigger!!
I haven’t, but in general I’ve heard of only moderate success using OS diapers on a newborn
My 7 pound 6oz boy was too small for MKs until about 8 weeks old.
Fit issues with smaller sizes
I think the quality is fine but personally I don't like the fit.
Fit issues with certain sizes
I have some mama koala and some noras and i like them both.
Fit issues for certain body types
The fit was never as good with them as I wanted, I feel like they run smaller than the other two brands on this list.
Annoying elastic adjusters
I don’t have a hand injury, and I wanted to literally throw them into a fire after it took me an hour to adjust 4 diapers.
Diapers trap moisture against baby's skin
I feel like they just trap all my baby’s moisture so that her skin never feels dry even when she hasn’t peed.
Initial transition can be overwhelming
Once I got the hang of my cloth routine (took me a couple of weeks to really perfect) I loved cloth diapers.
Check daycare policies on cloth diapers
Check to make sure your daycare or care provider will do cloth diapers before making the investment.
Concerns about polyester fabric against skin
I feel really dumb for not checking before buying, but the Mama Koalas are all plastic/polyester, and I was hoping to minimize plastic fiber contact with my kiddo's skin.
And also I'm just lamenting all the microplastics in general. I don't know what I was thinking not researching this more fully... blame it on pregnancy brain and being a rookie, I guess.
Potential for microplastics in washing
The plastic content in cloth diapers is way less than disposables.

They also are expensive. Other people share my sentiments. Others love them.
Esembly I think is the easiest cover to use bc of the way they designed their snaps.
It’s just a matter of what combo works best for you and baby

So my perception of it is that I can use the outer layer of the Kanga and Esembly diapers multiple times before doing a full machine wash but the Charlie Bananas need to be fully washed each time?
Covers, with an insert laid inside or prefold/preflat/flat/fitted fastened around baby, can be wiped and reused unless poop gets on them.
With pockets I could go 2+ hours between changes. Which meant naps, long car rides, and overnights were finally manageable.
