Snoop's Take

The Osprey Duro LT Men's Running Hydration Vest is designed for runners seeking a lightweight and efficient hydration solution. It features a close-to-body fit, reducing bounce during runs and providing essential storage for hydration, nutrition, and personal items. Consumer feedback highlights the vest's minimal design, perfect for short runs, with one user stating, "It's very minimal which is perfect for me since my longest runs so far are 12-13 km." Additionally, the vest is praised for its breathable materials and high build quality, ensuring durability over time, with comments like, "Always great construction, durability, and practicality." However, some users have noted issues with the bladder breaking quickly and annoying tube connections, indicating a need for careful handling. It's very minimal which is perfect for me since my longest runs so far are 12-13 km and I don't need a lot of water or storage.

Positive Feedback

My CamelBak bladder doesn’t fit great in my Osprey pack BUT the Osprey bladder I bought to fix that issue ended up breaking after literally two days of hiking.

It's very minimal which is perfect for me since my longest runs so far are 12-13 km and I don't need a lot of water or storage.
Close to body fit minimizes bounce
Doesn't bounce much, and there's a lot of ways to tighten it.
Breathable in hot weather
The back is super breathable and the back pocket is great for carrying an item or two.
Adjustable back tightening for stability
Discovered this by accident today and it totally fixed that issue.
Osprey vests are easier to fill and clean
I’ve heard that the newer Gregory and Hydrapaks taste the least like plastic at the onset.
Hydration packs are essential for long events
My only tip is make sure you have SOMETHING to drink WATER out of.
Hydration packs are life! I own an Osprey Viper, I can't recommend it highly enough.
High build quality and durability
The high build quality, lifetime warranty, and magnetic bite valve are exceptional features.
Always great construction, durability, and practicality.
The bladder is pretty cool - I like the fact that it has structure, so it's easier to fill.
High build quality and lifetime guarantee
What I like about the ospreys are pockets, build quality (lifetime guarantee for as long as you own it) and padding.
I have confidence in Osprey that they would only make it better.
Positive user experience with the new model
I use the new one and its been great for me.

Osprey bladder broke quickly
My CamelBak bladder doesn’t fit great in my Osprey pack BUT the Osprey bladder I bought to fix that issue ended up breaking after literally two days of hiking.
Annoying tube connections
I have an Osprey and find the tube connections annoying - they detach way too easily and I end up on the trail with the business end of the tube back in my car.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Different preferences for hydration vest comfort
Haven’t loaded the main compartment yet, only ran with two flasks full, and love it so far.
The Norvan also comes with 2x500ml flasks.
Different brands have varying water reservoir materials
Which hydration backpacks have the safest/healthiest water reservoir/bite valve material?
the bite valves are interchangeable so if you prefer one brand just get that one.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Experiences with carrying ice and water in events
My main concern is staying hydrated. Secondary but pretty darn close is enjoying said hydration.
Haven’t tried ice/ice pack coming in - since the bag is on your back with direct sun it may melt pretty quickly.
No ice packs, no ice, no frozen factory-sealed water bottles, no factory-sealed water bottles are allowed in.
Experimenting with hydration capacity
Not for this issue but because I want to increase capacity for longer routes without water sources.
Variety of uses for hydration packs
I wanted /r/Bicycling's thoughts if they have a preferred pack or experience, if my money would be better spend elsewhere, and that kind of jazz.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Personal experiences with hydration needs while running
OH MY GOD! IT'S *WONDERFUL!* I can stay hydrated AND keep my phone, pepper spray, and keys in the shoulder straps!!!!
I’ve learned it’s best never to compare and contrast with other runners. Everyone should do what works for them.
I should’ve just told him to shut up and bought what I wanted.
Hydration is vital for running.
Yes. Hydration is vital.
Yeah but, if the life straw is packed into a plate carrier, and plate carriers are intended for direct action/ force/combat.
Go hike in kit for 2 hours and report back how much water you drank.
Experiences with hydration needs vary.
There’s few arguments for not carrying a camelbak imo.
Discussion about fitting hydration bladders in Osprey packs
While I’d like to get the osprey bladder, I’ve heard that some bladders are not universal.
I love the hose connection, as well as how easy it is to dry out.
Fits okay in an osprey pack
Platypus is sturdier than the other options, and includes less fittings, openings, and potential failure points.
Searching for user reviews on size and fit
Just curious, hard to find any decent reviews of people adding their measurements and the sized product they bought online.
Discussion about bag policies for hydration packs
Talk bags to me
Hydration packs are allowed and do not need to be clear, but must be emptied of all liquid and have no more than two pockets in addition to the one holding the water reservoir.
Sounds like I shouldn’t expect too many issues.
I really don’t think they’re too strict on the amount of pockets as long as the bladder is empty.
Discussion about finding the right hydration pack for hiking
Hi everyone! I am trying to find a solid hydration pack for day hiking.
I love the REI Co-op flash 22 pack. We use it for all of our hikes and have had it for five years with no real signs of wear and tear.
thank you this was super helpful! i like how versatile the flash 22 seems - i could take out the padding and bladder and just use it as a quick backpack/sack for quick trips.
And it's super easy to get the bladder in and out of the back, no issues there! I can't say enough positive things about the platypus lol.
Discussion about cleaning hydration bags
Wondering what most frequent hikers do.
Seeking recommendations for breathable and lightweight running vests
Hydration Vests Can anyone recommend me a highly breathable, lightweight running vest please?
I have had decent luck with Nathan vests.
Confusion around the different versions of Osprey Duro packs
the new pack definitely looks slightly bulkier and I'm concerned it may be less breathable than its predecessor.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Hydration packs can be cumbersome in certain situations.
I much prefer to not have anything on my back when going through the hatch.
Discussion about weird taste in hydration packs
I tried rinsing it through again with water and lemon juice from a suggestion I saw online, but with no luck.
Ooo I need to try this for my cycling water bottles.
Importance of hydration at music festivals
Hope this helps!
