Snoop's Take

The Surfboard Soft Rack Lockdown Premium Surfboard Car Racks by Curve is designed to securely transport surfboards atop your vehicle with ease. Featuring a unique patented lockdown system, it cocoons surfboards to prevent lift and damage during transit, making it ideal for surfers. Consumer feedback highlights the effectiveness of the racks in holding multiple surfboards securely, with users noting, "Held up to 3 surfboards before with no issue." However, concerns arise regarding safety at higher speeds, with one user stating, "Freeway speeds would be suicidal." Overall, while the product excels in security and protection, caution is advised for those traveling at speed. Based on the feedback, the Surfboard Soft Rack Lockdown is recommended for casual use, particularly for short trips and lower speeds, ensuring your surfboards are well-protected and securely fastened during transportation.

Held up to 3 surfboards before with no issue
Why isn't Windsurfing more popular (at least here in the US)?

Unsafe for freeway speeds

I wouldn’t do it. The board is gonna mess with the inertia and make it hard to balance, especially at higher speeds.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion on alternative rack options
I would go that route if you surf with any consistency.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion on creative ways to transport surfboards
No problem, right? Well my car shit the bed this afternoon.
I've seen people take boards with no rack on scooters.
That’s actually not a terrible idea.
Bruh, put the nose of your board between your ass and your seat and let the tail hang off the back, far less likely to feel wind effects.
Discussion on motorcycle surfboard racks
Anyone with some experience on this topic, I’d appreciate your insight.
He'd ride the freeway with it.

Discussion on best practices for securing surfboards on racks
But when this guy asked me, I couldn’t really give a good reason as to why.
the part that is actually relevant is whether you have good straps and tie it down well.
it looks like the air is going to force the board down if the tail is forward.
Never make a wing of your surfboard unless you intend to fly... Because it will act exactly like a foil and lift.
Discussion on beginner board recommendations
I'm a beginner, just got a few questions about fish boards, sorry for the annoyance
Don’t buy a fish. Buy a soft top or used longboard like everybody else.
Definitely buy a fish. Actually a high performance short board.
Yeah, the 8' would be optimal since you would be getting soft racks anyway.
Discussion on tips for storing wetsuits in an apartment
Any tips for storing boards and drying wetsuits in the apartment? I would do the shower but it’s going to be shared with a friend so I can’t leave it hanging for hours.
Hang your wetsuit in the shower
This method can mostly dry the inside of a wetsuit overnight.
If you have a patio hang your suit there. If you don't, hang it in the shower with a fan blowing in it.
Discussion on protection methods for surfboards in bags
the more pricey one is worth it or if it’s best to just go cheap
nothing beats swim noodles. Slice into them with a box cutter, then clamp them around the rails.
Heating insulation is even better and already sliced.
the pool noodle method is a great option if you're on a budget.
Discussion on budget-friendly surfboard bag options
I don't know if they still sell them, but Sideways Surf on the Goldy used to sell epic 3-4 board bags pretty cheap.
I've got two Veia bags. They are super nice, lifetime warranty on the materials.
get something with wheels. Especially if you’re packing extra gear in your board bag.
Discussion on accessibility of windsurfing locations
a surfboard isnt really useful for that.
Comments on cost of equipment and lessons
Boards have barely improved over the last decade (unlike kites) so if you find a 10 year old twin tip in good condition for less than 200 bucks, go for it.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Anecdotes about windsurfing's rise during COVID
Anecdotally WS is on the rise in NJ because it’s an ideal COVID sport.
Discussion on learning kiteboarding
I'm just looking for something easy to use because I'm a complete beginner.
Search for a used kiteboard if you can.
A windsurf board is too big and floaty to be used with kiting.
It will certainly not be fun! Chances are you will struggle so hard to do anything but faceplant time after time!
