What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Offers safer handling by redistributing weight
A WDH put the weight back on the front axle, which offers benefits like safer handling.
Offers a great price-to-value ratio
I got a great deal on it.
Easy installation process
I had another hitch (husky) with my other trailer and hated it.
Husky hitch provides good anti-sway performance
I figure they all come from China, most from the same factory just different stickers on them.
Helps if you get into wind which is a daily occurrence in my region.
Weight distribution hitch improves towing stability
A weight distribution hitch with bars will be better than towing without.
Husky hitch allows safe backing while attached
The Equalizer and Husky hitches I've had state that you can safely backup while still attached.
Take what random people in campgrounds tell you with a large grain of salt.
Good price at Costco
It is currently on a good deal at my Costco for that model.
Minimal sway during towing
Minimal sway. Easy-ish to hook up and tear down.
I love them. Have never had problems with them, designed well, constructed well and super easy to install and adjust.
Effective integrated sway control
I would recommend a WDH though, especially with a 1/2 ton truck. It will help with handling, and will pay for itself in no time compared to having the trailer hauled multiple times.
I highly recommend this unit, and I have the electronic antisway too. My 34 foot TT is hardly noticeable.
Durable construction with good performance
I love it. Squeaks like crazy though, especially when I'm turning.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Can become noisy over time
The noise goes mostly away by year 2.
But it’s definitely not quiet 😂
But ultimately, the noise doesn’t bother me.
Sway control effectiveness can vary based on setup
Not always, the round bar with chains route requires secondary friction anti sway.
Weight distribution hitches can be confusing to set up
It's confusing as hell at first.
Removing sway bars can be difficult on-the-fly
If so how the F do you do that on a WDH on the fly?
I had to have it cut off and rewelded a new hitch into the frame of the camper.
Hitch can be noisy when turning
It sounded how I imagine the inside of a steel mill sounds lol.
Difficulty in setup with airbag suspension
There are some extra considerations when using a WDH and an airbag rear suspension.
Definitely don’t trust an RV dealer to get it right.
Creaking sounds are common during use
Creaking sound when using weight-distribution hitch... are the creaking sounds while making sharp turns during parking a normal thing?
Every time I see a tt coming into a campground, wild noises are coming from it.
Weight distribution hitches can make some awful sounds but it's normal.
the creaking, popping, snapping noises while towing are always fun.
Weight distribution setup can be confusing
Going from no WDH to one is night and day and, unless you're towing a 10' Scamp with an F350 dually, I don't think I'd be without one.
May be too stiff for lighter trailers
That particular setup seems to me like it would be too stiff for your application.
Higher capacity may not be necessary
if it is going to mess things up, make a terrible ride, or be unsafe I will get the 32217.
Heavy trailers may exceed safe limits for F-150
That's a massive trailer, even for my diesel F250 it's getting up there.
That’s a giant trailer for an F-150, even with the HDPP.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Weight distribution hitches (WDH) are essential for larger trailers
This is a "better safe than sorry," especially if you hit a bump in the road at speed.
Friction sway units suck for my application, best mid-price point brand if not one of the one that were included.
Discussion on tongue weight adjustment for optimal towing performance
I don't know much about how these function, but can I use this heavier duty system on a lighter trailer without any issues?
Your tongue weight seems low.
You can use the heavier bars, but they will likely be a very stiff ride and may put extra stress on the frame.
They likely sell different bars for the lower TW as well.
Personal experiences with different hitch brands
I'll never get anything but an Anderson.
it's pretty ideal for a smaller trailer like what you can comfortably tow with a GX.
Importance of weight distribution when towing
Very important to know the correct way to distribute weight when towing.
From now on, whenever I'm towing, I'll keep an eye on giant hands trynna push my trailer.
What do some many flatbed drivers and hot shot ride with the load directly over the axle then?
It's annoying how much maths and physics are involved in towing a trailer.
Weight distribution relies on proper loading in the trailer
the haul master products are great if the set up is correct, will last a long time.
Discussion on proper weight distribution for towing
All the max tongue weights quoted are with a WDH.

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Comments on different setups for varying trailers
I would have no issues going with that setup.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Manual recommendations for WDH usage vary by vehicle
even if you don't _need_ it, it won't hurt. Keeping the steer wheels properly weighted is a good thing.
Manual recommendations for weight distribution hitches vary
I like the Reese and Curt for the price to value point...Equal-i-zer also has my attention because it's one of the few American-made ones.
Comparisons to other brands and products
Hensley is far too overkill and absurdly expensive for this setup.
I think it seems to be the standard.
Definitely feel the difference.
Preference for specific hitch brands
The equalizer is kinda the bread and butter hitch. Not too cheap not too expensive.
Common confusion between sway bars and weight distribution hitches
is there any way to know roughly how much weight he shaved off by supporting it with his foot?
Discussion on proper lubrication for weight distribution hitches
It is not a lube. It is a penetrating oil so it's good for things like door hinges.
That might have been too thin of a lube.
Recommendations for towing speed with trailers
You need to hold your speed to 60 mph which is the speed rating for most trailer tires.
Discussion on varying recommendations for weight distribution hitches
I'm not trying to compromise safety, I just want to make sure the added benefit is worth the price.
Importance of using gross weight for trailer sizing
Never use “dry weight” or “unloaded weight”. Always use the gross weight to size your rig and vehicle.
Comparison with Equal-i-zer and Blue OX
It seems the Husky had issues earlier on but they have since corrected them and were quick to help out customers.
User experiences vary with setup
Okay good deal.
Advice on proper load balancing while towing
If you are doing this as a one time pull to place the trailer long term, I would say go a reasonable speed, balance your load properly and make sure you are not over loaded.
Discussion on the necessity of WDH for different towing scenarios
A wdh makes the camper pick up on the truck like a person would a wheelbarrow to shift the weight forward onto the front tires.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Preference for other brands based on specific needs
Weigh safe…primarily because it can adapt to multiple trailers:vehicles easily.
I would say from experience that a square bar system is much better than a chain round bar system.
The best wdh with sway control is probably the weighsafe true tow wdh.
Concerns about damaging hitches when backing
Husband has been a technician/mechanic for about 20 years. He says no, definitely not.
Discussion on the effectiveness of different weight distribution hitches.
despite being very pricey it looks intriguing.
A better WDH would be something like the Blue Ox Sway Pro. It's fully adjustable in seconds and has built in sway control.
I’ve heard a lot of good things with the blue ox, I’m leaning towards it.
Concerns about towing safety in high winds
I mean, in anything over 25 sustained I wouldn't be driving.
If the wind does God forbid roll your trailer over, which danger of starts at about 25mph, without WD bars it pops off the hitch and maybe throws you around a little.
