Snoop's Take

The Chefman Electric Deli Slicer is designed to effortlessly slice a variety of foods including meats, cheeses, and breads right in your kitchen. With an adjustable thickness dial and a powerful 180-watt motor, it makes food preparation easier and more efficient for both everyday meals and gourmet creations. Consumer feedback highlights the slicer's ability to provide perfectly even slices, with users noting, "it cuts through the crust like butter and gives perfectly even slices." Many appreciate its usefulness for homemade meat preparation and convenience, while others express concerns about cleanup time and the effectiveness of suction cups. A few users have mentioned potential safety risks with traditional knives, stating, "I don't even know what happened, knife fell sideways off the bread into my finger." Overall, despite some drawbacks such as cleanup and stability issues, the Chefman Electric Deli Slicer is well-regarded for its performance in its category, making it a recommended choice for those who frequently slice foods at home.

I don't even know what happened, knife fell sideways off the bread into my finger/knuckle in a different direction that I even understand.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Cuts through crusty bread easily
HOW DID I LIVE WITHOUT THIS? It cuts through the crust like butter and gives perfectly even slices.
What’s the best brand or model you’ve used for consistent, precise slicing?
An automatic meat/cheese slicer at the deli I work at
Electric bread slicer is my biggest game changer. No more squished, uneven slices!
Provides perfectly even slices
I like how fast it throws the slice down
Makes slicing easier
Thanks for the share, been wanting something like this to make my slicing easier.
I have one of these for slicing ham we buy at Costco. Never thought to use it to slice bread.
Its slowed down.
This is where the mechanical version works better.
Useful for homemade meat preparation
It’s great if that's what you really need!

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Risk of cutting oneself with traditional knives
I don't even know what happened, knife fell sideways off the bread into my finger/knuckle in a different direction that I even understand.
Cleanup is time-consuming
You'll spend more time cleaning it after your done than it's gonna take slicing by hand.
Suction cups do not hold well
the suction cups don't really work well to keep it planted, and if you push on the fence too hard the thickness will change because the plate flexes.
Takes up a lot of space
These are not cheap, they take up *a lot* of space, and they're a huge PITA to clean up.
Does not cut well and is flimsy
It gets hot, doesn’t cut well, and is somewhat flimsy so if I push too much it’ll deflect and the slices won’t be square.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
General interest in deli slicers
How much is it gonna set me back? Been considering…
Concerns about blade size for various ingredients
Anyone have advice on deli slicer brands/models? Hi chefs. I'm looking into buying a new slicer, 10" or larger. There are a surprising number of brands, with very little difference that I can see.
A couple of points that come to mind 1. Go larger than you think you will need-you'll be less limited by they products you can slice such as mortadella, provolone or even cabbage/lettuce heads. The blade is 25cm but not 25 cm usable
Discussion on blade effectiveness with various meat types
Sounds like it has a relatively thin blade that’s deflecting when it hits resistance.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Hand-crank slicers are less efficient but compact
it's not as efficient as I imagine an electric one would be but it does the trick, plus my folds up nice and compact
Alternative methods for slicing meat exist
I didn’t think I’d be able to get it that thin, but if I can I will definitely try that first.
Don't buy a whole slicer. Also that deli sucks, literally any grocery store deli will do it without a blink of an eye.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Looking for a reasonable deli slicer for occasional use
something reasonably priced but will get the job done.
Nice so you have a meat grinder rec?
Beswood slicer is top choice
Slicing technique impacts results
Only thing that may would is for me to my hand to put equal pressure on the meat directly as it slices but that would be unsafe.
I found that if I go slow and let it slide through the meat, it works better.
Turn the meat around after every cut to keep the surface as straight as you can.
SLOW DOWN - or spend WAY more money.
Discussion around cleaning methods for slicers
During the cleaning process am I supposed to: 1. Clean behind the blade?
'Easy-Clean' design—blade, food carriage, food pusher and food deflector all remove for easy cleaning
No not the 609a. Yes ive read the manual but they didnt mention grease and method to clean
Grease? is it on the cutting blade? is it close to getting on any food being sliced? If so, clean it off.
Discussion about finding affordable and durable meat slicers
Looking for one to cut super thin Capicola, Prosciutto, and Bresaola.
Cuisinart makes one for about $60 but if you want a good one and have the space look for a used commercial slicer.
Get one that will last.
User experiences with various slicer brands
I picked up a decent, generic one from Amazon and its been working great for me for slicing home cured bacon.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Electric slicers are common in German households
I also learned having a bread slicer is a pretty common household item in Germany, which I love.
After messing with settings all day in cura then creality print, I've decided that I am definitely not someone who wants to tinker with printers.
Electric knives were once popular for slicing
Still only $20 to $40 bucks and will slice through bread easily as well as meats or whatever.
I don't think I know anyone my age who owns one
Nostalgic memories associated with electric slicers
I miss the days of big roasts. My mom used to roast a large eye round and then cut it up into slices for sandwiches with the electric knife.
Concerns about bread going stale after slicing
Why do you slice the whole thing? Won't it go stale faster?
Discussion about manual slicers vs electric slicers
anyone heard of zassenhaus? It’s a German manual slicer I was checking awhile back, wondering if it lives up to the hype.
Manual slicers aren't just beautiful—they can be effective, even if Germans prefer electronic ones.
Discussion about durability of different brands
Buy a Hobart and never buy another one again.
Hobart and Bizerba are the grocery store brands.
