Snoop's Take

eTone’s Darkroom Developing Equipment Kit is a complete setup for processing 120, 135, and 35mm film in both color and black & white. It’s engineered to simplify the traditional film developing process with all the necessary accessories included in one package. Consumer sentiment is as mixed as one might expect in a niche market. Many users laud its intuitive design and reliable multi-channel timer – one even noted, “I can absolutely recommend it.” However, discussions also highlight issues such as Chinese-only instructions, temperature consistency during color processing, and limited tank capacity without extension arms. These points, while not deal-breakers for every user, have sparked a spirited debate among enthusiasts. In summary, while the kit packs a serious punch for home darkroom setups and educational purposes, the caveats mentioned by users mean it’s best suited for those willing to navigate a few rough edges. For its price and comprehensive inclusion, it still earns a cautious recommendation in its category.

Temperature consistency issues in color processing

Chinese instructions (language barrier)
Purchased one but instructions are in Chinese.
Do you have a link to the Chinese instructions?
Limited tank capacity without extension
How big of a tank does one of these support?
They sell an extension arm with rollers to accomodate a five spiral tank but as it comes it can only fit a two spiral 1520.
Noisy operation
sounds like an old drill making a hole in concrete.
Uncertain C41 compatibility
Hi! Does a roller like this work for C41? I heard it’s only good for B&W but I want it for C41?

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Alternative chem bottle options for darkroom chemicals
As a hobbyist I try to pinch pennies wherever I can and this will save me a lot of money.
Makes perfect small quantity developing batches. This is a great tip.
I hate having to use and rinse a funnel to pour the chemicals back into the bottles.
One of those looks like it's for motor oil.
Alternative film processor and agitation systems discussion
I dislike the constant attention and agitation required while processing film and was looking for something that I could set and come back to.
I've never had issues with a unidirectional motor - people claim you'll get uneven development if the motor doesn't change directions.
The main reason for me to buy it is consistency of agitation and decreased chemical usage.
Therefore, I see them on auction sites for 50-100 plus shipping.
