Snoop's Take

The Hamilton Beach Food Processor & Vegetable Chopper is designed to simplify meal preparation by efficiently slicing, shredding, mincing, and pureeing ingredients. With a generous 10-cup bowl and a powerful 450-watt motor, it caters to various cooking tasks while saving users time with its built-in bowl scraper feature. Consumer feedback reveals a mix of satisfaction and frustration with this product. Many users appreciate the built-in bowl scraper, stating, "LOVE mine and use it daily, sometimes more than once," highlighting its usefulness in daily cooking. However, some users have raised concerns about durability, noting issues such as food particles getting stuck in the handle and insufficient power for thick doughs, with one remarking, "I spend too much time trying to pick out little pieces of food that gets stuck in the handle!" Overall, while the Hamilton Beach Food Processor offers valuable features for amateur cooks and daily meal prep, potential durability issues and the need for pre-cutting may deter some users. Therefore, it is recommended for casual cooks looking for an affordable option, but those requiring heavy-duty performance might consider alternatives.

Exactly what are you looking to get out of a food processor?
Affordable and widely available
Food processors are a common item at thrift stores. Just make sure you plug it in and test it.
I found a bread maker that was like-new for $7 & it works perfectly (I've had it 4 yrs.). Like you said, just be sure to plug it in to make sure it works!
Useful for various small tasks in cooking
LOVE mine and use it daily, sometimes more than once.
Durable and reliable over years of use
I had that same processor for many years. It was a real workhorse.
I have this!It was my mom’s.It works great still!
Great for making salsa and hummus
Food processors are great at a lot of things, but chopping vegetables uniformly isn't one of them.

Cheese gets gunked up in the blade
I have not used this, but I have seen trained chefs recommend the Braun Multiquick 9 Hand Blender after multiple years of heavy use.
Potential durability issues
Its just broke this morning, I havent been to store yet but Im hoping to get a refund and find another brand / heavy duty ones.
Hamilton beach is like the opposite of BIFL.
Are Cuisinart or KitchenAid branded ones any better? Obviously, they cost more.
Hamilton Beach isn't particularly known for quality.
Food particles get stuck in the handle
Carrot piece stuck in Hamilton beach food processor Help! Top of food processor near handle I have 2 carrot pieces stuck above the spring.
I am tired of it! I spend too much time trying to pick out little pieces of food that gets stuck in the handle! If you don't get the food out then it rots and molds! 😤
food particles check in, but they don't check out. this is unsanitary and maddening!!
Insufficient power for thick dough
I was thinking about going that route next time and doing sourdough.
Do you want a big work bowl, or do you only make small quantities of food at a time?
You killed it... seems you totally burnt out the motor by it not having enough horse power.
Requires pre-cutting for even results
It's good to pre-chop items in order to get an even "chop" once it goes in the processor.
If you care about even results and controlling how fine the chop is, then you should heed the instructions.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
General interest in food processor usage
I’ve used mine a couple of times in the last year and feel like I’m missing out
Recommendations for food processors I'm looking to get into making more soups, and as part of that I'm looking to get a food processor.
Soup? That works best with an immersion blender not pouring hot soup into a food processor (they often leak too)
I have twin toddlers that I like to make healthy meals for. I want a food processor to help me save time.
Discussion about other brands
If you can afford to get the nice one and you use it frequently enough, it will be worth it.
Discussion about maximum fill amounts
You do not fill these to the brim, so 10 cup capacity may translate to 5 cups of food at a time.
Discussion about necessity of cutting vegetables before processing
Does putting large pieces of vegetables, for example one celery cut into 4 pieces and placed in the bowl before chopping, impact the functionality of a food processor?
General conversation about food processor capabilities
No, this is the best tool for the job.
I have no problem when I do.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Fixing the handle to clean food particles
Now the black top snaps into place and pops back off easily for cleaning.
If it got in then there surely is a way to get it out.
Variety of uses mentioned for mini food processors
I’ve been using it way more than I expected.
I’d say to hone in on why you want it and what you’d like to use it for and then searching based off of that.
Discussion on using food processors for dough versus mixers
I rejected it because its instructions specifically say it is not to be used for dough.
Eh? What's you're point? When we use a 30 quart hobart standing mixer to make dough, we don't expect the dough to be made in the food processor...
Anecdotally I prefer the pizza crust and pie doughs from my food processor over my mixer.

Discussion about warranty and replacement
Its probably still under warranty if its less than a full month old
Yah I wonder that too, I follow Asian Recipes, half frozen meat cubes with few Ice cubes.
Limited availability in thrift stores
I saw exactly zero food processors at any thrift stores I've been to in at least the last year.
Discussion about finding used food processors
It does everything it's supposed to beautifully, comes with a lot of blades, and, importantly, the bowl is freaking enormous (still mixes up small quantities with no problems) and the speed is adjustable, which is a "How did I exist without this?" sort of feature once you get it.
My mother bought that Braun in 1987 & she still uses it. :) It is definitely something to consider.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Found at a thrift store, indicating good durability
Hamilton beach food processor Scored this at the goodwill for 6.99! Working, never used I’m losing my mindddd.
Me too! I feel like it was simpler and better made in some cases!
I bet it works and will last considerably better and longer vs the modern version
Discussion about other brands' durability
I've had the same Cuisinart since my first wedding in 1996 and its still going strong.
the older style (Pro Classic), which is still made, is easier to clean and is a workhorse.
I have a Breville 16 quart it’s a beast
Mini food processors are popular for small kitchens
I was considering getting a mini food processor, but I don't know if it's worth it.
Discussion about safety of plastic used in the product
Anyone know the plastic safety on this?
Finding food processors at thrift stores indicates good durability
Found a Hamilton Beach Scovill food processor yesterday for $2! Runs like a dream.
General interest in durability of older brands
I have a big boy Cuisinart. It's all the power you'll ever need.
80s-era cuisinarts will last a lifetime, my mother has had hers for 30 years now.
