Taste-free water reservoir
Do you guys run a hydration pack on your carrier? I’ve thought Bout it but don’t think I want the added weight.
It’s unbelievable how quick you can suck down an entire camelbak on a hot day of running and gunning, and becoming a heat case is a no go
OH MY GOD! IT'S *WONDERFUL!* I can stay hydrated AND keep my phone, pepper spray, and keys in the shoulder straps!!!!
I've been considering trying it but I don't want to spend that much if it doesn't work.
Large opening for easy cleaning and filling
Water is heavy and large, so it’s hard to store on a belt. The PC is the first line of storage that makes sense as it can handle the weight and size.
That’s what I’m doing I bought the bladder and sling bag espérate and it fits together
100% leak-proof design
Not dying>extra weight. Get a ruck.
Convenient alternative to traditional water bottles
After returning home we washed and dried the bladders with water/bleach. The bladders themselves feel bone dry and I plan on tucking them away in a closet with some silica packets.
I keep mine in the freezer. Wash thoroughly 1x week. No mold or mildew.
I hang them from a cabinet knob in our kitchen for a day or two. That usually does the trick.
Effective drying solutions
We got the bone dry/bondry bladder inserts last year for Christmas and they are AMAZING - jus t rinse the bladder and throw it in there and you can put the bladder back in your pack.
Reservoir encourages hydration
a tube 6 inches from my face is the best reminder to keep drinking.
I keep myself better hydrated when I don't need to stop to take my water bottle out.
Durable for frequent use
how to dry out a water bladder?? how would i go about drying out my water bladder once i’ve drained it?
So far it’s been fine 🙂. I’ve had mine for years and I take it hiking 2-4 times a month.

Where it needs some work!

Bladders can be hard to refill
Bladders are harder to refill on the trail, you often need to empty half your pack to get the bladder back in.
Now I just use a Cnoc, sawyer, & 2 SW bottles. Widemouth of the Cnoc makes it so easy to collect water.
Bladders can be difficult to clean
I got a bladder and hydration pack last summer. I even got my trusty parents to help me try and clean it but we just couldn't get all the water to drain out properly.
There’s also specific kits made for cleaning out hydration bladders. A quick Google search and you'll find lots of options.
Lingering plastic taste
all we needed was a couple tablets of denture cleanser and some hot water!!!
Dreadful aftertaste over time
absolutely dreadful aftertaste after a while, the freezer trick is a game changer!

Weather conditions can change in very short time & routes aren’t always marked super clearly, so carrying layers, first aid, headlamp, snacks, mini water filter, etc. is pretty important to me.

I generally just keep a water bottle and a lifestraw on me somewhere so I figured a pack wasn’t worth it.
