Equipped with a 3L water bladder, this backpack ensures that users have easy access to water while keeping it cool for hours, making it ideal for extended trips. Consumer feedback highlights the backpack's strengths, particularly its easy-to-clean water bladder and insulated design that keeps water cool. Users appreciate that "I find that I drink more water and more consistently throughout the hike with the hydration pack since it’s right there," showcasing the backpack's role in encouraging hydration during activities. However, some users reported that cleaning the mouth valve can be a bit fidgety, which is a minor drawback compared to its overall functionality. Its combination of comfort, capacity, and convenience makes it a strong contender in its category.

Having the sliding lock on the top makes the bladder easier to clean, fill up, & virtually leak proof.

Positive Feedback

I find the cleaning of the mouth valve a bid fidgety, but other than that it's a fantastic product.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Easy to clean and fill water bladder
Having the sliding lock on the top makes the bladder easier to clean, fill up, & virtually leak proof.
I have sleep and hydration, I just didn’t feel like crowding the floor more than it already was.
I’ve used it for ski touring with heavy sacks having it coiled on the top portion of the sack however it was so sensitive to pressure I gave up using it.
It's easy to find backpacks that have hydration systems and it is easy to find packs that will fit as a "personal item" on a flight.
Insulation keeps water cool
No idea about the insulated part, I drink water at room temp and I've never had my water get warm even on long days except the small amount in the hose.
I use a Sawyer Squeeze for planned camping but it’s too big for just-in-case in my 12L.
Ultimately your pack choice is going to be a personal thing based on in-person fit, comfort here is key.
I like, in particular, that the flow is not really impeded by the filter (ie the filter flows faster than the hydration bladder's bite valve thing can).
Lightweight design for comfort
Sawyer Squeeze with tablets as a backup.
Most small packs don't have one.
Easy access to hydration encourages regular water intake
I find that I drink more water and more consistently throughout the hike with the hydration pack since it’s right there.

Fidgety cleaning of mouth valve
I find the cleaning of the mouth valve a bid fidgety, but other than that it's a fantastic product.
Even then I preferred it to pumping haha.

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion about unique features of hydration packs
Are there any that have truly unique features (whether you like them or not)?
Discussion on water storage solutions
Thanks for the input!
Ditch the life straw get a sawyer mini it can filter a thousand times more water and has a way better filter and weighs almost nothing I went hiking with a guy who had a life straw and we drank from the same creek he got sick I didn’t
To add on, get a sawyer Squeeze, not the mini or micro. Much faster flow.
They do not have better filtration
Discussion about preferred brands for hydration packs
I'm wondering if there are any known brands that are better than others?
Discussion on various hydration pack brands and features
I've been thinking about getting a pack for some trips I have coming up so that I can day hike, but I don't know which route to take.
Get a pack you like and put the hydration system in yourself.
Any recommendations for a pack with a place for an internal bladder?
I have the Gregory Zulu 30 and I absolutely love it. Internal hydration option and works as a very comfortable day pack of needed.

Debate over hydration pack usage vs. other methods
Not dying>extra weight. Get a ruck.
Thanks! I’ll look into it
There’s few arguments for not carrying a camelbak imo. I can’t think of anything you really need on your back, and anything you do need back there can be thrown in/on a backpack.
I tried wearing a camelbak, but it *always* interferes with the hatches on our IFV.
Versatility for running
I should’ve just told him to shut up and bought what I wanted.
Discussion about DIY hydration systems
No such thing as a Camelbak or hydration bladder then. It was interesting when they came market.
One of the good things with a bladder is that you don't have the pressure issue, because the bladder just contracts and you don't have to let air back in.
They now sell this on garage grown gear under the product name one bottle hydration.

Question about versatility for running
It's cool looking, but it doesn't even have anything to secure the hydration hose? just wildly flopping about? In the video the guy tucks it under the chest strap. Thats a fail!
Have you ever tried running in this pack? I'm looking for something that is good for both
CamelBak used to, but it looks like they discontinued it a few years ago
Here's my Hydration Pack Dryer System.
Interest in hydration packs for ultra marathons
I've been running ultra marathons since 2016 and between road marathons, hiking, training, and just generally being super picky, I've had to kiss a lot of frogs.
Pack two different systems, because one will break. Lifestraw sucks, if you catch my drift.
Running as a new challenge after a long break
Running will look totally different for me from now on and it has been my goal since I got sick a year ago that I will return, no matter how that looks for me.
Hydration importance during activities
Do you guys run a hydration pack on your carrier? I’ve thought Bout it but don’t think I want the added weight.
It’s unbelievable how quick you can suck down an entire camelbak on a hot day of running and gunning, and becoming a heat case is a no go
Yes. Hydration is vital.
Water is heavy and large, so it’s hard to store on a belt. The PC is the first line of storage that makes sense as it can handle the weight and size.
Question about hydration pack suitability for long hikes
Old liner 1.5L is dead (lining is flaking off inside, old af Camelbak), and the pack itself is ratty and needs to be put down.
It's durable, comfortable, and holds enough water for long hikes.
You can't go wrong with Osprey or Camelback brands.
I have a platypus 3L that has never let me down.
Hydration system usage in summer alpine environments
A hydration system with a hose is fine for a summer alpine environment, it won’t freeze.
Hydration system preferences among users
Personally I side with the if it ain’t broke don’t fix it mentality, however always looking to gain some knowledge that I didn’t have.
Just use your issue one til it breaks, then just replace the bladder inside of it.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion about hydration importance during activities
Osprey Duro.... 1.5L hydration pack plus pockets for additional bottles.
Recently bought a women’s Salomon active skin hydration vest. It’s great, doesn’t bounce around at all.
Discussion about hydration systems freezing in cold weather
I don't have any recommendations, since using such a hydration system in an alpine (frozen) environment causes the tube to freeze, which renders the system useless.
I haven't found a camelback (or similar) that doesn't freeze when it's cold.
