Snoop's Take

The Logitech G X52 Flight Control System is a sophisticated joystick and throttle quadrant designed for flight simulation enthusiasts. It offers advanced features such as a multi-function display and customizable controls to enhance the flying experience. Users have expressed a mixture of sentiments regarding the X52, with many praising its precise control and immersive gameplay capabilities. One user noted, "the immersion aspect cannot be disregarded," while others appreciated its effective thrust control and build quality. However, some feedback highlighted concerns about the stickiness and plastic feel of certain components, which could detract from the overall experience. Overall, despite some criticisms, the Logitech G X52 is generally recommended as a solid entry-level option for flight simulation. With its array of features and positive user experiences, it stands as a competitive choice in its category.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Joystick provides precise control
Where in the re mapping menu is that feature located?
just upgraded to this from x52pro night and day difference i more accurate flying is more comfortable and im still trying to find things to bind to the stick hats so many keybind possibilities
Plasticky movement on Logitech Flight yoke, is it excessive?
I mean I know the Logitech Yoke is already extremely plasticky 🤣 but I'm just wondering if perhaps the little stutters in the movement from side to side are sign of a faulty unit.
Thrust control is effective
love that. got my Omni recentering throttle only when thrusting backwards, works great
On the Left hand omni stick, For the throttle I use the Grey hat on the thumb side with press being 0%, up=75%, down=25%, forward=increase, back=decrease.
Good build quality and button layout
I think you convinced me to buy that setup. It looks to be best bang for your buck in terms of build quality and button layout, without being the most expensive set.
My first thought on that first flight...
Is it just me or did Logitech used to be a paramount of quality in the PC peripheral world, and now they just use their brand and good image to shovel future e-waste down the throats of consumers?
Great for immersive gameplay
The immersion aspect cannot be disregarded.
The value proposition here can't be beat imo.
Throttle is well-designed
the yoke is meh but the throttles are pretty nice
I do, it started to drift a month into having it.
Looks like a shitty spring holding section like every logitech ever built.
Lmfao this is perfect
Joystick provides good range of motion
Might not be a bad idea to start with a Logitech 3d Extreme Pro.
The twist will go sloppy after a few years.
Durable for long-term use
They're also super durable, it's not uncommon to hear about people hanging on to them for 15+ years.
Good entry-level option for flight simming
It significantly cheaper and similar build quality.
Interested in buying a flight simulator controller for fiancé starting flight school soon.
It’s nice to see other people who enjoy flight sim who are also getting licenses!!
Affordable compared to premium options
I'm using it for 5 years and still can't find anything bad in this HOTAS.
Excellent plug and play compatibility
The detents on it may not translate well to other planes.
I have the Airbus pack and it’s great, as someone else stated the throttle detents can be a bit weird when used on other aircraft but it works.
Modifying tension improves performance
I modified the tension in mine (replaced springs with rubber bands) and its much better.
the difference when I switched (just over the past few weeks too) was enormous.
I no longer have sensitivity or dead zone issues.
Joystick has a lot of hats for functionality
I've had mine for about 4 years. It's been great.
Capable and works well for its intended purpose
The X52 is a bit long in the tooth, though it has enough buttons and hats to simulate most of the modern aircraft in DCS.
Users have positive experiences with Logitech products
i have lots of good experiences with them
The X52 is great. I have one, and I love it.
X52 is a clean and realistic setup
The X52 is a much more clean and "realistic" looking setup but I went with a T1600m because it offered a ton of controls.
X52 is considered a great choice and worth the price
X52 Pro is a great choice and worth it's additional money for sure.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Logitech yoke has stickiness and jerkiness issues.
the "stickiness" and jerkiness of the Logitech yoke was borderline unplayable to me
The panels are connected via USB. You can use them with any flight controls you like.
Some users find it feels 'plastic'
its a bit "plastic" feeling in places but does the job.
Durability concerns with switches
I had one, and the switches started failing after about a year.
Not comparable to higher-end options
The Honeycomb is FAR superior and most close to the feel of real aircraft - it’s not perfect, but it’s “positive” training, whereas I would consider the Logitech gear to be “negative” training.
Tight spring can make adjustments exhausting
the push/pull axis was on such a tight spring, it was exhausting to adjust pitch.
Considered inferior to Honeycomb yoke
Honestly, I would not waste my money on the Logitech yoke. It’s $100 more but it works really damn well.
So the general consensus is honeycomb? I nearly got the Logitech for €100 on amazon but saw the hineycomb and thought nah.... 😂
X52's quality is questioned compared to other Logitech products
The x52, unlike most logitech products doesn't yet have that level of quality to it.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Joystick configuration varies based on personal preference
A lot can be resolved with how you configure.
No worries.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Different setups can enhance gameplay experience
I've had mine HotasX for over 3500 h of Elite, no problems whatsoever.
Discussion on different setups for flight simulation
Honeycomb alpha and bravo are top line and super versatile if you want a yoke + throttle vs a joystick/HOTAS, which I recommend the yoke route for versatility.
Besides, OP positioned his budget around TCA Airbus pack, which is nowhere near close to Honeycomb setup.
Discussion about modifying the product for better performance
The only way you'll get anything slightly better from this yolk is to modify it as someone else mentioned.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Entry-level joystick for casual flight simming
Lacks bells and whistles but more than gets the job done for casual/entry level simming.
Comparison with other entry-level sticks
Id say get logitech 3d pro if this was the case, wont hurt the wallet and is onpar with entry level stick like the ch stick and t16000m
VR setups can be more cost-effective than buying multiple instruments.
All kinds of instruments quickly adds up and even thoug a VR headset is not cheap it can still be cheaper than buying a lot of instruments, button boxes and what not.
Logitech flight instruments are not compatible with Mac
Their websites says "SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Windows® 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 7, but I've seen some showing Logitech is just fine for MacOS.
It works on Mac, along with the throttle quadrant. However, if you get the switch panel as an add on, you’ll need a third party plugin.
They all say they don't work with Mac... I started with the Logitech and ended up going to a Thrustmaster joystick.
Logitech is seen as a budget option
I really like the new Honeycomb yoke too, but being almost $100 more it is a bit more than I am willing to spend right now.
If logitech is your budget then I’d go for it.
Does the Honeycomb yoke have throttle controls?
Comparison of X52 to Saitek and other brands
It also has a slightly better throttle hat and a concave pov2 hat.
Discussion about the price difference between X52 and Pro version
I want to buy a real Joystick.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Flight sim community can be elitist about equipment
The flight sim community can be very elitist so don't worry about it.
Users transition from casual to serious flight simming
if you dont have a HOTAS and wanna see if you like flight simming/dcs, its a great start.
Users have varying opinions on Logitech products
So much wasted money.
it will die on you after 12 months give or take a few
