Consumer feedback highlights its comfortable design and extensive button mapping capabilities. Users have praised its integration with flight simulation software, stating that "mapping started out to be a PITA but it's actually kinda fun trying new stuff out." Additionally, many have noted significant improvements in accuracy and handling over previous models, describing the joystick as a "night and day difference" from earlier devices. What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
High integration with flight simulation software
Feels better integrated
Brazil for the most part does not accept the Wright Brothers' claim of first powered flight due to the usage of external launch rails; instead, Alberto Santos-Dumont's 1906 flight is generally accepted as first controlled heavier-than-air powered flight.
Comfortable ergonomic design
It's very ergo. I still fly on it.
Made myself a DIY center stick “sim pit” so I can sit comfortably the way a pilot does in real life.
just upgraded to this from x52pro night and day difference i more accurate flying is more comfortable and im still trying to find things to bind to the stick hats so many keybind possibilities
Mapping started out to be a PITA but it's actually kinda fun trying new stuff out and dialing in to how I play.
Sufficient buttons for mapping controls
Being able to exit supercruise from the joystick is a must.
Good for unconventional space flight simulations
If a spaceflight sim style Gundam game ever got made, a setup with these would feel absolutely awesome.
The HOSAS seems like a good basis on how mobile suit controls should work.
High button availability for control mapping
I’m sold! Do you find the number of buttons On the hosas setup adequate for elite?
It looks to be best bang for your buck in terms of build quality and button layout, without being the most expensive set.
The SOL-R sticks have been great for the last 24 hours.
Improved accuracy in flight control
The immersion aspect cannot be disregarded.
My first thought on that first flight... “Like butter.”
Great for unconventional space flight simulations
The value proposition here can't be beat imo.
Good for beginners at a learner's level
It was my first stick and I loved it.
Significant upgrade from T16000
Compared to T16000's the stick mechanism itself is much much nicer and it is dead on precise.
Great handling and quality feel
Absolutely no regrets, I'll be using them as my main for some time, however, I'm going from HOTAS to HOSAS, which is likely thoroughly skewing how impressed I am.
Durable hall effect technology
Hall effect joysticks do last much much longer than potentiometer joysticks from Alps or Favor, and they do feel much smoother for lacking that layer of carbon film for the joystick to rub on.
It's so sad that Sega lost so hard in the console wars. They had hall effect joysticks in their console controllers back in the 90's.
Useful control mapping exercise for beginners
seeing how some of my controls are mapped out diagrammatically, as these have evolved over time - a process that doesn't always lead to the most logical setups.
mapping all the missing functions (autopilot, prop auto/manual and multi-engine keys).
Custom control scheme enhances gameplay experience
Can anybody tell me what the default button mappings/control scheme is? And do you stick to the default or did you change something?
The throttle controls forward and reverse thrust, and houses the DS4 face buttons, R2 and L2.
Yup, go 'Options', 'Controls' - at the top is 'Presets' open the drop-down menu and pick the Thrustmaster from the list!

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Compatibility issues with newer software
I haven’t been able to figure out how to get it to work yet with 24
It works with 24? Damn the only button that works for me on my deck in 24 is the wind speed
Inverted controls issue
the throttle is working backwards and when I try to use the elevators to pitch down for example it will pitch down but then right after it will switch up and start pitching up
I looked at my hotas 1 settings from msfs 2020 and put them in this empty profile! And it works I was able to do a next flight for Rotterdam to Barcelona!!
Difficulty in changing control binds
If you find the bind in settings > controls, hit the gear icon on the right and invert it.
Is this issue fixed yet? I managed to delete my axis controls while trying to set them is it worth retrying yet?
Accuracy issues with deadzone
I feel it has quite a big deadzone sometimes
there is some lack of accuracy, but without comparison to another stick I cannot say for certain
Need for additional hardware (keyboard) for extra bindings
I use the keyboard for quite a few things, like cargo scoop, landing gear, frameshift, since I don't have a modifier button in place.
Lack of left-handed options
I'd get a HOTAS if it weren't for two problems: I don't play enough flight sims/aerial combat games and I'm left handed and left handed HOTAS controllers are exceedingly rare.
Oh, don't get me wrong. I have no concerns that I couldn't use a standard, right handed HOTAS. It's just that I'd prefer a left handed option.
Initial setup and mapping can be complex
A lot can be resolved with how you configure.
Inadequate left-handed options
Left-hand/analog strafe is the one thing that's making me think I might eventually upgrade to another setup - and I want to strafe vertically as well as left/right.
Significant dead-zone affecting precision
It's got a significant dead-zone, however, which makes fine adjustments hard - I found it difficult to keep my lasers on target in Squadrons.
Inconsistent stick re-centering
the left one didn’t re-centre very well.
Low-quality components in some models
The real reason is that the recentering design is bad and flawed.
Joystick was too imprecise for effective use
mine was too imprecise to ever be able to hit something with it.
Difficulty in initial setup and button mapping
the throttle did nothing, and the button mapping was weird, trigger was speed up
Potential discomfort without a mounting option
Would love to use the stick but if it's too awkward without somewhere to mount it then I'll have to stick to standard DS4.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
User discussions on control binding for flight simulation
Now when in-game, you will Roll with your Right Joystick X Axis, Pitch with the Y Axis, Yaw with the Twist Axis, Accelerate with Throttle UP (from Center) and Brake with Throttle Down (From Center).
Discussion about TMR joystick technology
It seems like a great alternative option for hall-effect joystick ones.
The calibration is a hit and miss.
Would love to see them in the market and having more people do the measurement and see if it really works that great.
Gulikits are much better.
Modularity and hotswappability discussion
If only they made everything modular and hotswappable.

Having a helicopter on mars is very impressive thing.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
User workaround suggestions for control issues
On the Left hand omni stick, For the throttle I use the Grey hat on the thumb side with press being 0%, up=75%, down=25%, forward=increase, back=decrease.
Potential use of joystick in unconventional games
You think I could play beamng with my thrustmaster flight controls It would be funny to fly a pigeon plane with these
if you remap some keys, yes
I mean... I've played dirt rally with the same joystick... And flew a plane with my Logitech g29... So you can do whatever you want
Yes I fly bush planes on beam with my thrustmaster TCA just bind the keys in specific controls for the vehicule and you’re good to go
User experiences with different setups
Yeah I've got the left hand Omni throttle and a regular right hand stick, I really enjoy them for stuff like star citizen and war thunder.
General discussion on joystick setups and mappings
Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X Joystick Mapping
This is eerily similar to how I set mine up. I end up using the twist for my rudder and use the big axis on the throttle for zoom in/out

Manufacturer's official response link shared
Here is the answer from the manufacturer
Comparison to better sticks for future upgrades
Other sticks are better, but this will do until you can scrape together the cash for better.
Comparisons to other controllers
Price puts them closer to basic thrustmaster, quality is closer to the much more expensive Virpil than TM.
General chatter about joystick alternatives
It's glorious.
Thrustmaster T.16000 HOTAS had it since launch and it's worked solidly.
User experiences with setting up HOTAS in VR
Basically the (almost) pinnacle of playing this game in VR.
There IS a point to having both throttle and joystick.
Concerns about affordability for VR setups
Dude this is so amazing but I don't think I'll be able to afford the vr set up for like .... ever hahaha
Compatibility issues with controller detection
Steam doesn't even see my T16000m as a controller, "no controllers detected".
Comparison to other joystick brands
these might make TM a solid budget entry though, where the 1600s were a very clear and large step down…
it seems that Sol-R is about on par with VKB Next EVO in terms of sensors and gimbals, but has better more premium feeling plastics and buttons/switches than their grip
Comparison of controller types and their use cases
I think you definitely have to pick a controller to fit what you play.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
User experiences with different flight setups
I really wish I had just picked this up instead lol.
I got the fenix profiles from here and they are incredible
Do you guys use joysticks to play?
so the front (nose of the stick) point upward and my ship goes up
User frustrations with initial setup
I’m still messing with my sensitivity, but this is what I’m using now:
Saved my experience thank you! Is there a way to assign rudders to the thruster buttons?
Holy crap next up is resetting up helicopter controls
Discussion on hall effect joysticks in general
still amazes me how that console was so ahead of its time.
Nor Playstation or Xbox, all 3 big companies keep using the same ALPS joysticks with like 200 days lifetime
I think a lot of people buy them and aren’t avid users.
and I find controllers to be expensive enough as is.
